Well if that's the way your coach motivates his players (by humiliating them) then good luck to them because they'll need it.
They'll need to get Bob Murphy out of retirement and keep him going till he's in his 60's if that's gonna be how they treat their players, no-one will want to go there.

Agreed on this.

We've got 3 trades to work in. It's not a matter of just working out a deal with the dogs, suns or gws indivually. As it stands, the first deal we do will likely affect the other 2 so we need to work with 3 clubs to make it all happen. As you said, this takes time.
I suspect the plan is once deal 1 is completed deals 2&3 could quickly follow. Getting ducks lined up.

If we miss out on Smith due to not being able to get deals done it will be a terrible result for us. At what stage do we forget about Salad to ensure the other deals are completed?

Feel a trade needs to be done before the weekend. Preferably the smith deal as he is most chased now.

Otherwise the noise all weekend will be how difficult we are and it gives other clubs all weekend to snoop around more.

Cannot go into the weekend with such a negative result

This is from the Doggies board.....
The AFLPA would not be happy if they were screwing with a players mental health like that.

Is also be pissed off as a fan if our club did that too someone. This guy is not only delusional, but dumb if he thinks this is true. What club what want to publicly sack a player if they actually didn't want too keep them.

Still can't understand all of this hand-wringing over there having not been any deals yet. The trade period runs for two weeks. There is zero reason to pay massive overs just to "get a deal done" when we have so much time still up our sleeve to negotiate down to a better value, compromise deal.

Because it's comparable to the value of their 1st pick points wise. So even though they lose their 2018 1st, they get back our 2018 2nd which, when combined with their own 2018 2nd, can be upgraded to a 1st rounder under the F/S points system. They also get our pick 30 this year to make up having to use their 2nd rounder next year for West.

Basically, it evens out to: we lose 11 + 30 (2nd rounder), Dogs lose Stringer + 2018 2nd rounder.

Yeah, it works for us but I don't see why the dogs would do it. They're still just down grading a first to use two picks on West. Why not just use the second pick in the super draft.

It's much more valuable for them to just get everything done this year.

Well that's the main sticking point - would they want to give up a 2nd in a strong draft for a 2nd in a weaker draft? Probably not. Although they could use our pick 30 to secure Crozier while keeping their own pick 27 for something else.

Anyway, I doubt this all happens. I'm just thinking that we probably need to somehow find another 1st rounder when we give up pick 11 in order to get all 3 deals done.

I agree.

But we can all agree that the media will twist anything for a headline.

And because all 3 players havent said "essendon or bust" gives them a starting point

Thats not true. These trades were always going to take time. IIRC saints did not budge on pick 5 until the 2nd week. Happens with most trades that include a big name. Danger being the only exception.

Im actually suprised the offer we made yesterday came so early as its pretty close to what the final trades will be imo
