One player out of contract we should entertain would be Kade Kolodjashnij. Looked like a real player his first couple years before suffering a few head knocks which resulted in a bit of up and down form. I can't see him re-signing given the Suns track record for treating injuries.

He would come relatively cheap and slotted into a more professional setting down here he could rediscover his form.
Looks very likely to join his brother at Geelong
Isn't his best position playing as a third tall defender? That wouldn't be high on the list of priorities.
He's basically a left footed Gleeson

This bloke will only be 23 next year, fits our recruiting demographic. Will be 26-27 when Hooker and Hurley retire.

Low risk-High reward

There's a pretty significant squeeze on for list spots. I don't see why we'd use a list spot on a player like that, not in circumstances where we're already trying to work out how to fit Ridley, Francis and Gleeson into a team. He wouldn't come cheap, either, because he is a pretty good player. I doubt that we'll dedicate another $400,000 (at the least) to the position, especially with the form now being shown by Zerk-Thatcher.

I also doubt that the potential reward as any greater than what we've already got waiting in the wings.

Is he not yet another undersized running midfielder, despite his height?

Guthrie is not 'undersized', at least as far as I'm concerned. That would be like claiming Mitch Wallis is undersized. The comment is obviously based on my views on Smith though I don't think you understand how small Smith is if you'd draw the comparison with Guthrie. Without wanting to seem contrarian for the sake of it, I actually quite like Guthrie, he shares a lot of Smith's strenghts. He has been a more effective inside midfielder when he has played there.

I hear what you're saying, I wouldn't want it unless he came cheap, would rather use a list space on a bloke like this than hold Jackson Merrett for another year put it that way.

I don't want to toot my own horn but it was around this time last year when I made my very first post stating we should have a crack at Saad at seasons end:cool::cool:

The responses I got was along the lines of why would we when we already have Mckenna??

A chance that he wont be at the Dogs next season if his from dosen't improve or forces his way back into to the sdie.
I'd say he is all but gone, the dogs have an abundance of his type of player on their list. My guess is the fact they are not playing him means they have decided he won't be part of their future.

Seems like it

Mark Stevens thinks Wallis needs a massive turn around to stay. I really hope the club is interested has a good inside game and can stick a tackle.

The more I think about it, the more keen on him I am. Had a look at some of his previous career numbers and his contested possession, clearance, and tackle numbers in years where he's played a bigger role for the dogs have been great. Fits a need for us down to an absolute tee.

Getting one of him or Wallis would be a huge get his offseason as far as team fit.

If the salary matches up i wouldnt mind going for both if we can get Wallis as a RFA and WB dont match.
GWS second rounder should be a fair trade for Tyson (somehow we would also keep our 1st rounder).
Mahoney and Dodo have shown they can play nice during trade week as well (see; Melksham and Hibberd).

Wallis would be an excellent role player in the middle, need a guy like him to counterbalance Merrett, Heppell, Zaharakis etc.

Tyson on the other hand butchers the ball too much for my liking
