Unfortunately I'm not sure there'll be the same good will with the WB list manager
Free agent
Would be our best inside midfielder
What does Tyson add that Zaha doesn't already? Pretty sure the knock on him is he doesn't do enough with the footy
Win clearances, run defensively.
Wallis would be an excellent role player in the middle, need a guy like him to counterbalance Merrett, Heppell, Zaharakis etc.

Tyson on the other hand butchers the ball too much for my liking
Tyson is a better player than Wallis and also a bigger body. And is a better user.
eth-dog ; What are Tyson's numbers at VFL level? any idea?
His only official game this year he had 35 disposals and 2 goals against Port, who have one of the stronger midfields in the comp. Had two praccy's at the start of the year when coming back from injury, no idea about the numbers.

Smith has been superb, Saad has been good and Striner is building. I’d argue that they have/will do us great.
It's more to the point of the big picture. Trading in guys won't win us a flag. Or even a final. We need a fresh face with new idea. People argue how great he is but our on field record speaks for its self.

Well history so far has proven that trading in players won't win you a flag by the half way point of the following season... I'll give you that much.

Is this fair dinkum? They could not be more different if they tried
not really my point. He's isn't the midfield bull that we need. He gets high disposals counts without hurting the opposition by foot. IMO we either need to recruit inside bulls or super skilled players by foot. Tyson is B grade at best. He's isn't transforming our midfield.

I think the point Snake Charmer is trying to make is that Tyson realy doesn't have a genuine point of difference to upsurt any of our current midfield crop. Obviously Wallis would overtake a significant number of guys who do/could play inside midfield hence the attraction to him. Tyson is like trying to roll all of Stanton, Zaharakis and even Buddha Hocking into one player. All great at there best but no point selling the world for when we already have guys on our list who could fill that role.

I would poach Melbournes recruiter.
I seriously don't understand how Josh Mahoney still has a job after how ever many years he has been at Melbourne. Like he must be a seriously nice guy, or has something stashed away but some of the decisions he has been apart of for the best part of a decade have given Melbourne nothing but failure in his time there. He has been let off scott free in his tenure, with countless coaches, drafts, compromised drafts and trades coming and going by, he has remained a common denominator of failure at that football club.

Anyways, end rant/

Here's the point of difference: He's a very strong clearance winner. At Melbourne he plays more of an inside/outside role because they have Jones, Viney, Oliver etc, here he would be playing as the #1 extractor and as such wouldn't play as you described.

Hahahaha yeah because last year wonder moves have done us great. Time to move the old man on.
To be fair, it's not just the three guys he had brought in in the off season, it was also the guys we lost. 3 best 22 guys (Jobe, Stants, Kelly) and then obviously the guys we brought in had to upseat guys currently in our best 22.

In effect, we were changing over close to 25% of our best 22. That is significant when you consider all the sorts of players we did bring in. On top of that, the issues created internally (Hooker returning to defence, Joe's OP, McGrath transitioning into a midfielder) was never going to bode too well early doors.

The end result is going to be fun to watch but right now, we are in a bit of a holding pattern.

Do you have to be Dustin Martin to be an 'inside bull'? Are we not allowed to target genuine inside mids that can kick?

I think he's another Devon Smith, he's been marginalised and forced out of his comfort zone by more high profile players and if given the chance can play a serious role

He strikes me as not overly quick and as such, we already have a plethora of that type of inside midfielder already at the club. May as well spend what you were going to on your car and get a better version of it for the same price.

Would pay unders for a guy who would be a role player at our club. Think Jarryd Lyons (Adel > GCS, Koby Stevens (WB > St.K). Not a world beater but a guy who does enough for the team

No thanks to Tyson, he inside but not different to what we have in the likes of Heppell, Langford and would only hurt the latters game time.
Yes he is. He's stronger, a better ball winner and would be our #1 extractor. How he plays at Melbourne doesn't equal how he'd play here.

Don't care. He'd be the strongest inside midfielder on the list by a country mile.
