Might be reading too much into the one game but I don't see anything in Brodie to indicate he'd be worth the outlay.

Certainly not worth a first rounder and if it was a second rounder in a strong draft I'm not sure he'd be any better than what we would find if we just kept it and picked a kid, we've had solid success in the 20-40 range in recent times

Wallis and Dahlhaus would both be on my list via FA, both would at the very least add to our depth and put pressure on some others in the team, namely Myers, Baguley and Colyers. Dahlhaus' off-field antics are a worry but they don't seem to affect his footy too much.

Both would be cheap acquisitions that would improve the state of our list, dare I say Moneyball?

With a likely easier fixture (band 2 - resulting in more games against lower ranked sides this year) surely we can fix the shenanigans on field and have a real crack at finals in 2019!
Collingwood only won 9 games last year... we've already won 8 this season... if we get the right player who can contribute straight away combined with an easier draw... and the right attitude we should bounce back hard like they have this season.

And surely Richmond won't have 3 years straight of **** all injuries to key players....

And he's slow so it will end up being hard to fit him into a side.

As you said, we'd be better off taking a pick from 20 to 40 and looking for an ideal type of player we can develop. Collier-Dawkins, for example, would seem to have the tools even if he doesn't have the body of work put together by Brodie as a junior.

Wallis seems the most realistically obtainable target that wouldn't cost the earth but would still improve our side. If we had our best 22 out there, he could play the Baguley role up forward and as soon as we get some midfield injuries he could slot right in there.

We only really have an aging Myers and Langford that offers similar things to our side.

Stringer is developing into that role too.

What is P. Cripps contract status? Surely it wouldnt take too much convincing to get him to ditch the Navy blue for the red and black or any other color for that matter. Currently wasting his career as a one man band.

OOC end of 2019 but pretty sure they've got a big contract on the table already

Wallis yes.
A ruckman to put some pressure on and to be ready for life after TBC (Cameron, Preuss)
Anyone who can run both ways and can kick accurately and can lay a real tackle.

Alternatively clone Devon Smith 5 times and put some Lloyd DNA in Joe to make him kick straighter.

I don't think it's going to be hard to fit him in because he's slow it's going to be hard to fit him in because the alternatives are all better. In Brodie you would have a guy that we'd probably have to overpay to get him in the door initially and then sit him in the VFL and let him develop for 18 months to see if you've actually got something.

I'd prefer to have the flexibility of the additional draft pick too.

He was much better last week, there were a couple of center clearances where he showed some explosiveness. He does seem to be struggling to find outside possession however, and I do not believe he has a big tank naturally/ also has the tendency to throw it on the boot. Could be a slow burn like Caddy was... who ultimately turned into a different type of player then what he was drafted as

Would have to be a massive deal, I daresay he won't be signing anytime soon as that offer on the table would have to be getting larger by the week.

Unfortunately think he will stay a Blue but the Perth clubs will come hard and I'd be surprised if he isn't the highest paid player in the AFL in 2020

Smith I like, Nichollls not so much. Marshall looked great as a FF on Friday, although against Carlton
Honestly they're there as depth for Bellchambers who can be a stop gap if Draper isn't AFL ready by the time Tommy stops (which could be in 2 years time). I'm not looking for them to be world beaters.

Why would they change clubs to be depth behind Belly? Surely they'd be looking at an opportunity to be a Nankervis/Witts/Jacobs etc. who went to clubs needing a #1 and grabbed the opportunity?

How many clubs could offer them that? Geelong and the Dogs maybe, but most of the rest probably not. Smith would jump from being 3rd in line at Brisbane behind two relatively injury free rucks to #2 behind someone who does have a history of injuries, and if not that, a history of getting some rests through the season.

If we're looking at getting a stop-gap solution ruckman. I wouldn't be suprised if we had a look at a Dawson Simpson type. Not a world beater by any means but would come cheap on a 1 year deal and could be backup for another year before Draper is ready.

I think Draper is closer than the club anticipated at the start of the year, He's putting up very good numbers at VFL level and If Belly were to get injured I could see him having 1st crack over Leuey if it was only for a game or 2.

I'm starting to lean heavily to no trading this season unless for an established gun (None available from I can see) or a player who would cost a token pick at best (James Stewart).

FA, I'd still be looking around (Wallis) but no trade only contract.

We dont need anymore ruckman yet imo, more pressing needs to address.
We have Bellchambers (29), Leuenberger (30) and McKernan (28 in 2 months, who isn't great as a ruck) and Draper (19, and a while off yet IMO) with Leuey looking likely to retire at the end of the year. A stop gap for 2-3 years as a back up wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.
