It's a delisted free agent/late pick/rookie position
This is my opinion too. We don't have a huge need for small defenders but perhaps could do with one more decent backup option from a late pick of some kind in case of injuries to Saad and McKenna. More and more sides are running with very quick forward lines filled with smalls and mediums.

I guess it depends whether you think any of these guys could play the role effectively in a pinch and will be on our list next year: Baguley, McNiece, Jerrett, Long.

North splashing the cash for Polec lols gee they are desprate at Arden street.
I genuinely believe the link to North Melbourne is garbage. It is more than likely the players manager suggesting said trade to drive up his clients price.

Money, returning home, playing with a young list. May not be ideal but surely the Blues have money to throw around.
No chance he goes from a club who is building to a club who are further back. If he comes back it will be to Richmond , Collingwood or the Hawks.

Saad and McKenna best 22

Redman and Ridley are not sure things (yet) and Ridley is closer to Gleeson being 190cm+, you could almost include Francis in this bracket.

Gleeson whilst capable of playing small to a degree is not a small defender.

McNiece's future is up in the air with him being on the rookie list and not contracted for next year.

Guelfi is a mid.

I am not saying take one early, but if there is a suitable player available late in the draft ala Zerk-Thatcher we should take a close look.
Played half back on Saturday.

If we are trading for players then the only uncontracted player i would be going for is Angus Brayshaw.

I would throw 700-750k a year at him in a heartbeat. Maybe more if its close to get him over the line. Exactly the sort of mid we need.

Wallis is a bit 1 dimensional atm but is building some semblance of a forward craft. If he is under 380-410k a year and the doggies dont match (unlikey they dont at that price) then i would kick the tyres.

Otherwise the trade market is getting bare and bar a contracted player requesting a trade (ala Stringer or Saad) i really am not interested in anyone else on the trade table.
Would rather take pick 7 and GWS's second to the draft.

Honestly hope we're relatively inactive this period, unless we want to swap next year's first for one this year so we can double down on midfield talent, or in case a King slips to us we can still take a midfielder like Hately or Collier-Dawkins with the second pick. This hour's LP has us finishing 12th, North 9th and GWS 7th (though we can get as high as 8th, NM can get as high as 6th, GWS as high as 3rd. Crazy). Assuming Lynch leaves, that leaves us with pick 8 and 31, North with 11 and 29. The following trade would benefit both teams IMO:

2019 1st + 31
For
11 + 40

They get an extra 177 points towards Thomas this year, and a first round next year that will be unlikely to be used on their NGA (D_P_S?) and if we fail to finish top 4 next year they "win" in terms of points. 29 and 31 will be enough points to match a bid from 8 onwards.

Picks before North's 1st (in order for me): Lukosious (Car), Ben King (GC), Walsh (GC), Max King (StK), Blakey (Syd (WB bid)), Rankine (WB), Bailey Smith (Bri), Ian Hill (Fre), Jackson Hately (Ess), Connor Rozee (Ade), Tarryn Thomas (NM (Haw bid)), Taylor (Haw), Collier-Dawkins (Ess)

We also pretty much get an extra pick in the 3rd round, would be hoping someone with speed around that mark, a Sydney Stack type. Or perhaps we go for a quicker type with one of our first two and hope a Bytel slips to us. Although I wouldn't be fussed if they negotiated their future 3rd. Though it is 11:45 and my brain needs to rest so this could be delusional pearler worthy.

Um excuse my french, but where the **** is Rankine?

Top 5 lock, and if he somehow lasts to 8 i would be throwing people out of the way on my way to the podium to read his name out.

Oh god. I had him going to somewhere early but then thought they wouldn't take him and forgot to put him back in. Would have gone to the Dogs with Taylor probably slipping to Hawthorne
