Honestly hope we're relatively inactive this period, unless we want to swap next year's first for one this year so we can double down on midfield talent, or in case a King slips to us we can still take a midfielder like Hately or Collier-Dawkins with the second pick. This hour's LP has us finishing 12th, North 9th and GWS 7th (though we can get as high as 8th, NM can get as high as 6th, GWS as high as 3rd. Crazy). Assuming Lynch leaves, that leaves us with pick 8 and 31, North with 11 and 29. The following trade would benefit both teams IMO:

2019 1st + 31
For
11 + 40

They get an extra 177 points towards Thomas this year, and a first round next year that will be unlikely to be used on their NGA (D_P_S?) and if we fail to finish top 4 next year they "win" in terms of points. 29 and 31 will be enough points to match a bid from 8 onwards.

Picks before North's 1st (in order for me): Lukosious (Car), Ben King (GC), Walsh (GC), Max King (StK), Blakey (Syd (WB bid)), Rankine (WB), Bailey Smith (Bri), Ian Hill (Fre), Jackson Hately (Ess), Connor Rozee (Ade), Tarryn Thomas (NM (Haw bid)), Taylor (Haw), Collier-Dawkins (Ess)

We also pretty much get an extra pick in the 3rd round, would be hoping someone with speed around that mark, a Sydney Stack type. Or perhaps we go for a quicker type with one of our first two and hope a Bytel slips to us. Although I wouldn't be fussed if they negotiated their future 3rd. Though it is 11:45 and my brain needs to rest so this could be delusional pearler worthy.
Sounds pretty good and that will also give Norf 2 first rounders next year which will be handy for when they go after Kelly again.

With the landscape changing so much in the past 6 weeks, feel our list has dramatically altered moving forward.

List changes moving forward;

Out of contract;

Mark Baguley (1 year)
Mitch Brown (1 year)
Matt Dea (1 year)
Brendan Goddard (1 year)
Josh Green (delist)
Michael Hartley (downgrade to rookie list - 1 year)
Kyle Kangford (3 years)
Jayden Laverde (2 years)
Matthew Lleunberger (retire)
Jake Long (delist)
Jackson Merret (delist)
James Stewart (2 years)

Shaun McKernan (upgrade)
Ben McNeice (Cat B - retain)
Sam Draper (retain)
Trent Mynott (retain)
Luke Lavender (Cat B - retain)

We have a tendancy to downgrade players. Hartley is a perfect option to do so.

That leaves us with 4 picks to go into the draft/FA period.

Pick 8 Jackson Hately - 192cm inside leaning midfielder
Pick 31 Jack Bytel - 187cm inside leaning midfielder
Pick 62 medium sized utility
Pick 80 best available

Hm. Not a lot of point upgrading McKernan, all it means is that we limit our options in terms of DFA/drafting due to the rookie rules. If we don't want them to have a 2 year deal we can have up to 6 Cat A rookies anyway. Baguley another I'm not 100% sure on, but otherwise agree. If Leuey retires I'd be looking to get a primary ruck on the cheap as a DFA or for a future 4th or something like that.

If Leuy retires I’d upgrade Draper, wouldn’t be against upgrading Mynott aswell

The difference between pick 80 and a rookie pick is nothing, would rather just upgrade him and just keep him there especially if we think he has a big future.
Mynott is fine in the RL for another year. Pick 80 odd is another chance to take a stab at a Guelfi type.

Good list - feel like Hartley is good enough to be a starting 22 defender somewhere though. If we're offering a downgrade then I wouldn't be surprised if a team like Collingwood, Hawks, Blues offer him a list spot as starting/depth. Just turned 25, KPD only being kept out by AA quality backs.

Would be surprised if it's Carlton, actually the one area they don't need. He hates Collingwood with a passion. Would request a trade out at the end of his first year. Though I think Geelong would be interested, or Sydney.

Brayshaw signed up and off the market.

No one else on the uncontracted market (Lynch aside) interests me enough to give up trade assets. Wallis as a free agent maybe but if WB match and try trade i am out thanks.

Would be happy just to take our picks to the draft and take the best prospect available.

Wouldn't give up anything significant but would definitely put a deal in front of Tom Campbell. Baffling that he hasn't played this year (I know he's injured right now) when he's dominated the VFL and the Dogs have won the hit out count once this year. In round 1. By 3. Since then they've lost the hit out count by an average of 26.

Somehow you seem to be enamoured by a VFL ruck that cant beat out a 20 year old with the physique of a broomstick and a guy they recruited to play in the backline.

Hence, i wouldnt be trading anything.
OOC this year and could easily pick him up as a DFA if the reason he isnt playing is because Beveridge has an axe to grind against him. No chance they would give a new deal then amd his currency is not existent.
