Suns have to be bluffing. We got 28 for Hibberd who at that stage had done more than Saad. Pick 64 makes 28 closer to 25
Its not academy bidding as the Suns have no prospects to use the points for 64 on, so the points are irrelevant.

If they arent bidding on anyone then it is only about selecting players with available list spots. With at least 6 draft picks currently before 64 (with Ablett trade to come) there is absolutely no utility to 64 for the Gold coast.

Pick 11 for saad & 20.
Pick 20 for stringer - take it or leave it dogs.
Pick 28 for smith.

These deal are reasonable.

If we want to get back into the draft then see if the right deal presents for Francis.

Next years draft is much better so I'd rather keep our future picks.
So we miss out on smith and stringer. Sounds great.
Honestly I really don't feel qualified to judge exact value, but I would be a little bit staggered if we walked away from two potentially elite players.
Your trades won't get the deal done, let's face it. This is our jake Carlisle moment and we will actually have to pay a fair price.

I don't see either saad or smith being worth anymore than a pick in the mid 20s. If GWS don't like pick 28 for smith then we move on and just focus on the stringer/saad deals. Smith is not elite - he's a handy best 18 player but he wouldn't be in the best 10 in our team so I don't think we give up more than that.

If Bulldogs offer stringer and their 2nd rounder for pick 11 we should just do it and offer only 2nd rounders for Saad and smith.

I mean we have convinced players to nominate us and they in turn put faith in us to get the deal done. If we don't get a deal done, it could impact future deals because we would have shown we can't get players to the club that nominate us.

Just think it's a bad look. Not saying we are in a bad position to land them.
The port-gorringe precedent. Doesn't seem to have affected them in the slightest besides a couple weeks bad press?

It is frustrating because there is a job to get done (ie get 3 quality players) within a finite amount of time. Days are flashing past and nothing appears to be happening in the hope that everything will sort itself out on the last day.

What if it doesn't sort itself out and we don't get any of the 3?

What exactly is Dodoro doing?

I can guarantee the other clubs have moves underway to get their hands on these 3.

Day 3 of 10. Realistically how many trades on average have happened in the first 3 days of the trade period in the past? I wouldn't think there'd be all that many.

I think we can easily manage more than a fair price if one of the "we want a first round" players is willing to accept 2 seconds instead. But it probably requires the bulldogs to cease posturing for an instant trophy and do what would be a long term wise decision.

There's meetings happening all the time. Far from nothing happening.

At least on BF, I think picks are perennially over rated compared to players.

I think if you have a player in hand who you are confident will play more than 120 games for you, he’s worth a top 10 Pick. If you can get him for anything less, that’s a bonus.

Look at the average no of games played by top 10 draft draft picks. Picks 1-3 average between 120 and 150 games and then it falls away to about an average of about 90 games between picks 4 and 18.

Draft picks beyond the first 18 are even more a crap shoot.

TLDR: while I don’t think Stringer is exactly what we need, all things considered (his sex life, gambling etc. etc.) If we think he’s going to give us 100 games or more, 11 is not an unfair ask. Everything else about the situation - I.e. contracted, dogs pushed him etc. is white noise.
I agree, that's why I'm happy to move on both this years and next years first rounders. Just think Richmond could have extracted a lot more from that trade.

Dodoro is busy blazin' it 420 and there's nothing anyone can do about it.

I think Stringer (although risky) and Smith will really improve our list. Joey and Stewart as talls, Stringer and perhaps Langford as mediums, Tippa, Smith, Fantasia as smalls with Laverde and Green as back up smalls. (Last 2 grannies won with smaller forward lines).

Hooker, Hurley and Ambrose covering the bigs down back, and happy to back Bags, Gleeson and Conner taking the smalls with Redman as backup, and Goddard going there as required. McGrath to move to midfield.

Saad?...do we really need him. Sure he looks great running out of defence...but does he run himself into trouble or is he a great kick..and can he defend? Personally I think we are ok without him. Really want the other 2 trades to happen as priority.
