We've had a ruck go down with a season ending injury.
Replace like for like.
I don't want to go into a game with just smack or Joe.

The question is is he able to jump with 200cm beanpoles? I don’t believe he is, they’re awful match ups for anyone in our current backline

We put enough pressure on the ball coming in and Hooker destroys them in the contest. Ambrose is also getting better at the body spoil. I don't think a tall athletic defender isn't a big enough need to worry about recruiting atm.

Is there another Dyson Heppell out there that’s been kicking 60 metre tracer bullets for the last 10 years?

That’s right on his max journey on a set shot on a good day, always has been.

What? He marked the ball 35/40m out and poked at it.
Heppell shown the ability to kick goals with the man on the mark at the 50m line as recent as last year. It was definitely a bad miss for him.

There are usually 4 to 6 nineteen year olds who are selected in the ND - In effect smart clubs will target one of these cohort for the mid-season draft instead of waiting for the ND - The extra five months of development is a big advantage - We have enough players on our list who can ruck or share the ruck.
Which 19 year old is having such a standout year that would warrant taking the risk of continuing the season with just Tbell and Clarke as capable number 1's?

They don't need to have a standout year - They need to have AFL characteristics which the recruiters believe can be developed by the coaching team.

Id be looking at Sam Lowson from Coburg

23yo small forward with speed who has always had a knack for the goals. The nice thing is he has really developed a defensive side to his game over the last 18 months.

Behind Fanta and Walla we really only have Baguley and an extremely raw Mozzie as Small forward as depth. I imagine Lowson could replace Baguley almost immediately.

At 23 there is still 7-8 years of good football in him as well.

He's a near certainty to go to North or Melbourne before us

Whats Chris Johnsons son like for end of years draft? Will the AFL change the rules yet again to help the non victorian teams?

Is he like a top 10 draft prospect? Looks small and probably plays off half back flank which suits Essendon recruiting to a tea.

Still would be happy to have him if it only cost us a package of later draft picks.

Only played 2 games so far for 11 and 27 disposals respectively.

Huh?

You're asking what a player is like, and then asked if he is a top 10 draft prospect, and based off of nothing at all you're happy to get him for a package of later draft picks?

SEVEN RUCK CONTENDERS IN THE MID-SEASON ROOKIE DRAFT

Ajang Ajang – East Perth
22yo, 198cm, 96kg

Just eight games into his WAFL career, the Sudanese big man is already turning heads. Was called upon for last year's elimination final with instant success, collecting 28 hitouts, 13 disposals, two goals. Has now become one of the WAFL's most athletic ruckmen with hitouts to advantage numbers through the roof. One of only two ruckmen set to undergo a medical assessment ahead of the Mid-Season Rookie Draft.

Jack Blair – North Adelaide
24yo, 206cm, 108kg

Trained with Sydney ahead of last year's drafts before heading to North Adelaide to further his football resume. Started the season in the SANFL league side but was last week dropped to the reserves. A rugby convert, Blair only played his first season of football last year, winning a Premier Division flag for UNSW-Eastern Suburbs Bulldogs in the AFL Sydney competition. Pushed into football by premiership ruckman Mike Pyke.

Oliver Eastland – Claremont
21yo, 198cm, 87kg

What Eastland lacks in height, he makes up with his athleticism. Burst onto the scene late last year in the ruck for Claremont, ironically holding his own against Zac Clarke when he was at Subiaco. Received attention in November and was invited to the WA State Draft combine. One of only two ruckmen among the list of 22 players invited for a medical screening ahead of the Mid-Season Rookie Draft.

Michael Knoll – South Adelaide
26yo, 204cm, 103kg
Will be the SANFL's lone ruckman in Sunday's State clash against the WAFL at Optus Stadium. Playing just his third year of football after a College basketball stint, Knoll crossed from Box Hill last year where he was emergency for the VFL Grand Final behind Marc Pittonet. Landed at South Adelaide this year after the Panthers lost Hayden McLean and Keegan Brooksby via the SSP. Could he be the third in 12 months?

Edyn Sibbald – Essendon VFL
23yo, 200cm, 90kg

Could be one from left-field. Stuck behind Draper and Clarke in Essendon's VFL program, the St Bernard's prospect has now been presented an opening as No.1 ruck. Debuted last year and has athletic traits, however it would be a big ask for him to lead the AFL ruck division. With Clarke on a one-year deal and Draper's injury expected to keep him sidelined for parts of 2020, the Bombers could roll the dice.

Luke Strnadica – East Fremantle
21yo, 203cm, 100kg

Cut by Fremantle at the end of last season, the 21-year-old has returned home to his original WAFL club and been one of the shining lights in a disappointing start to the season. Averaging 32 hitouts from his opening five matches, the former WA Under 18 representative and AFL Academy member simply found himself caught in the Dockers' logjam of talls last season.

Adam Swierzbiolek – Coburg
24yo, 200cm, 107kg

Soccer convert who presents as the ultimate mid-season smokey. Only playing local football 12 months ago, the 24-year-old has now taken the mantle at Coburg as the No.1 ruck. Still plenty of upside in his development, Swierzbiolek's physicality has allowed him to go head-to-head with AFL-listed ruckmen. Averaging 19 hitouts and 10 disposals a game.

I remember watching Ajang Ajang's debut in tv last year. Looked like the type that will be rookied for sure in the next few years but 0 chance of having an impact in the afl right away.
