Really? What are the chances of him getting a game in the seniors as a forward? Now would be his chance with Daniher out.
Current form unlikely. He might get a game there vs Sydney.

Not interested by that personally. Some people on our board would trade Dougie. He's been quite a bit down this year, but I still think he's worth more to us as an experienced player than a pick in the early twenties, especially considering you want a late sweetener back, and we have good picks again this year.

Have you heard of Jarryd Lyons? 22 tomorrow and he has absolutely dominated the SANFL each week since the start of last year (30+ disposals and a couple of goals fairly common), but for whatever reason does not get a fair run of games in the AFL to reward his excellent form, and he doesn't seem to be played as an inside midfielder to help take the pressure off Dangerfield. Much of the Crows board is worried that we will lose a good player in Jarryd for practically nothing. From my understanding, your mob chased Lyons last year, but for whatever reason he stayed here. Wonder if you'll try again. We won't get much for him, will probably end up using him to upgrade our third rounder and watch some other team reap the rewards. :(

Also, might be slightly off topic, but how's Aidan Riley going? As my name alludes to, he was my favourite player until you snapped him up (I like having weird favourites). Has he done enough to stay on your list for next year?

I like what I've seen from Lyons in the few chances he has had. Didn't know what the go with him was. If he came cheap enough I'd be happy with him, similar to how we brought in Riley and Michie last year. Our third rounder is likely to be used on Billy Stretch (based on a couple of Phantom Drafts), but if not, i'd be happy to swap third rounders for Lyons (obviously depends on where you guys finish on the ladder etc).

Riley had a slow start coming off the injury and had a very limited pre season and didn't play VFL until 4 or 5 I think off the top of my head. Played 2 AFL games earlier in the year and struggled a little, but his last couple of games have been getting better. He is absolutely ferocious at the ball which will certainly win him a lot of fans, as that is something we have lacked outside of Nathan Jones for quite some time.

Id be interested in Toumpas given he is ways behind everyone else it seems at D's and can't get out of the magoos right now at all. He was a high pick that has, in fairness, done SFA (for a number of reasons). I have a feeling however that you'd be wanting a Rd1 pick for him based purely on where he was drafted and that for mine would be be massive overs given what he has done since his draft day. Am I correct or would you accept less?

Go Catters

You would be right. I can't see us accepting much less than say pick 10, even though I agree, based on output he isn't worth close to that. No doubt Melbourne are probably a little disappointed with where he is at. A number of injuries and interruptions have hurt, but I would have thought we would be expecting him to be a regular senior player by now. Too much investment lost if we let him go for his market value now, which is probably a late second rounder. Better off keeping him and hoping for the best. I don't think his value would drop much further if he is still up and down in 2 years, but it could sky rocket given the kid has skills, has just struggled to adapt to the speed mostly.

Any nibbles for Suckling though?

Could see the Dogs interested in him, Maybe the Tigers

Our second rounder? We would love to have someone who can hit the side of a barn running out of our backline. Especially with the likes of Grimes, McDonald and Terlich currently being our attacking options from defence.

What would be his value?

We're likely to lose Higgins so may have a compo pick to play with - Suckling seems a direct replacement.

That would allow us to packacge our pick and your pick to get into the top 12 and hopefully snag Weller.
He's exactly what we're looking for.

I think if we trade this year it's going to be for an elite 23-26yr old mid (Cotchin, Danger, Sloan)
Or to improve our position in the draft.

I remember hearing about our interest in Lyons last year. I've seen a fair bit of the Crows, but he's not one that has stood out in my memory. I wouldn't be surprised if we are interested again this year given both his SANFL form and his lack of opportunities at senior level.

Riley, as eskimo pointed out had a slow start coming off the broken leg but has really started to show something over the last few weeks. His attack on the man and ball is wihout equal at our club. If we can get a full pre-season in to him, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him as a permanent fixture in our 21 next season.

I just googled him to check his age and was surprised to find he's only 25... had thought he was up around 28 for some reason. I would definitely offer our second rounder and if he is on the market, I would expect Roos to target him. He mentioned on AFL 360 last night when Malceski was mentioned that we really need a ball carrier/user coming off half back and Suckling is one of the best going around. His defensive shortcomings haven't been enough to keep him out of what has been a very well organised Hawthorn defense, so I doubt he'd find any troubles at Melbourne.

Eagles fans - Pick 4 or 5 (assuming Frawley leaves and gets us top compo) for Luke Shuey and Andrew Gaff?

The Eagles are trying to improve their midfield, not weaken it. One of them may be attainable, but both together for one pick in the first round is unders.

Pick 4 for both?

I'm not sure you'd find a single poster on here who would prefer pick 4 over both.

We desperately need more mids, not less.

Shuey is contracted and we wouldn't trade him.

If Gaff doesn't re-sign then we would definitely accept pick 5, although I realise that it wouldn't be offered. Be interested in your best theoretical offer for Gaff only.

I would like to trade for Shane Kersten.

I think he is worth something around pick 30 at the moment, although if he keeps playing well I could bump it up a fraction. I don't think he is quiet worth pick our first round draft pick (16-20), so maybe something like pick 16-20 for Kersten and pick 33-38.

I would reluctantly add our 3rd round pick if it was needed to clinch the deal, although as well need to take 3 players through the draft I would be reluctant to add this.

I thought both would be a stretch, but with some others on here looking at 10-15 for Shuey thought it might be workable. Gaff alone certainly fills a need for Melbourne, with pace and skill. Our second rounder is too low (at roughly pick 24/25). With West Coast looking likely to finish 10-12th you will have somewhere around pick 8/9. Would Gaff and 8 for 4 and 24 work?

We have very little to trade in the way of players that we can afford to lose. I don't think we have any WA players on our list with the go home factor (except Hogan and given he re-signed a matter of weeks ago I don't see an issue there). So realistically we are only really trading picks, unless there is someone on our list who you might be interested in (outside of Tyson, Jones, Hogan and a couple of others).

Unfortunatly Kersten said he would go anywhere but Freo :(

I would be ludicrous for the Dees to keep trading away their picks!

Unless you don't trust your development team?
Surely with 4,5 and 24 you can go along way to repairing the side

with players like Viney, Barry, Hogan, Toumpas, Tyson and the like. There is the making for a good side. And with Patraccas a possibility with pick 4?

You would be absolutely crazy!

Personally, the reason for looking for a couple of extra 20-24 year olds is that we drastically stuffed up drafting/development of players in that age group.

Watts is starting to play ok occassionally, Trengove who knows, Blease, strauss and tapscott all delisting/trade (we can dream) candidates to go along with Morton and Gysberts who have already left. Leaves us with a bit of a hole there. So targeting a couple of players around 21-24 (Shuey and Gaff) plus say Suckling (no reason he would want to come to us accept money) at 25, and still leaving us with a top 10 pick (this is all on the assumption that Frawley goes and we get top compensation) gives us 3 ready to go AFL quality players and still a high pick.

Adding Salem last year looks good, along with Hogan, Tyson, Viney, and a few others like JKH showing promise I agree there could be a decent side there. But if adding Suckling and Gaff for example means some of our crap players never have to play again can only be a good thing.

Agree. If we got say picks 4 and 5 I think trading one away for a decent young mid would be well worth it. Tyson is a great example of this. Them we still have a pick left for Petracca or Brayshaw.
