Trade hypotheticals

I would like to see the club do a trade for Shiel but I'm not sure we could.

Melbourne will trump us unless we offer Deledio.

I would rather Ellis tbh, younger and producing about the same output.

The club is probably the other way. You have to give quality to get Shiel and not just your first rounder

Nobody would want to be traded to Richmond. Poor culture the main reason. It's why Richmond can only get in guys like Chris Knights and Ricky Petterd, who nobody else really wanted. Richmond wouldn't be able to attract a Hall or Akermanis type, probably not even a Crameri type.

That's just my opinion of course.

Each to their own.

But I doubt players who wanted to come home to Melbourne wouldn't look at us.

Big club with lots of potential.

And btw Petterd was a rookie.

True but Richmond did trade for Grigg lol and he can't kick

Starting to turn into a Richmond hate session.

Like your club hasn't made mistakes, you'd appreciate Jenkins now hey?

Far, far too subtle.... And given you were using a chainsaw when applying it, that's unexpected.......

As I previously posted buying high & selling low isn't an option I'd imagine MFC would entertain for a 2nd yr player that is in contract.

Toumpas is predominantly an outside player that should be a 'finisher'. Melbourne certainly don't have many of these players & as such he is more valuable to us then I'd imagine anyone may be willing to give up.

In short, I think it would have to be a top 10 pick to entertain the trade or a young (u/23) quality player.

On exposed form, both options would be paying well over market value for Toumpas & why it will never occur.

So an overs deal only. Fair enough. You hold the cards so its your rules. And as you say, no chance of it happening. You want a Mitch Duncan type for him or a pick similar to his original selection. Agreed its massive overs.

Thanks.

Go Catters

Evidently by his reply you are correct. I was definitely being too subtle.

Trading Jenkins landed us Jackson Merrett. I'm happy with that.

It's not just about you guys offering up players you deem expendable it will also come down to what we need.

Assuming Shiel is even available (and from his last interview he seemed pretty happy) what GWS need is a key big bodied defender, crumbing small forward and a tall mid.

The tall mid I think we're hoping for is Petracca, crumbing small forward/utility could be Pickett (if available), key big bodied defender ?? (don't know). We have a heap of good young kids coming through but realistically a couple of those are 2/3 years away so if there was a kid available 22-25 then I think that is what we want.

The age profile is very important, we don't just want these 30+ blokes that can do a goodbye tour and collect some super money, we need blokes that can make a contribution for 5-7 years and make our squad better. The list cloggers can find somewhere else to dwell, we've got too many talented kids to accommodate first.

Were any other clubs interested in Hall and Aker at the time? It's not like they were in their prime

Hall still kicked 80 goals in his first season with us. An equal career-high. Not like he was in the grave.

The incorrect point made by the Richmond nuffy was that the Bulldogs are an unattractive trade destination. Which is false, as evidence shows.

Essendon were also trying to get Akermanis. So there goes the players want to be traded to big clubs only view

The dogs were an attractive destination when those two went there.

Crameri went for money.
