Trade hypotheticals

GWS are giving Patton an extra 2 years to go along with his existing deal that runs till the end of next year.

Fair to say he's not going anywhere

He be on a Cheap Contract now with him having 2 Knee Reco's

Yep that was me wanting to gauge the value of Kerridge from a trade perspective.

I noted you said it would take a direct player'(s) trade. What type of player from Melbourne do you consider of equal value to Kerridge to make it possible?

I certainly think if our 2nd rnd pick (currently about #21/22) is fair but as I said in a previous post, we may require that for Billy Stretch as a F/S selection, although we would know this before trade wk.

I guess that is the issue, I'd find it hard to put my "be objective" hat on and straight up say Toumpas. I think the issue is, who I personally would like from Melbourne, you'd probably think "fair crack dude" and that's fair enough. In saying that, I'd be happy with Kegs and our second for Toumpas ( although the years have shown me when I am happy a trade is kinda equal, the other side is getting rodgered)

In my thinking, that gives you a guy who starts round 1, has a mans body, good endurance and can play a variety of roles, plus a second round pick to compensate for the f/s use and we get something we need, outside run in the middle.

I don't see that trade going through.

Like I said, I think #21-22 as it stands is fair but dependent upon the Stretch F/S situation.

Your thoughts on that?

Would the pies or sydney be keen on a trade of S.Reid for Witts?? (Juggle draft picks if required??) Witts has a great future but S.Reid fixes both our forward line and also gives us the chance to move Ben Reid back

Would require a lot more than juggling of picks for pies to pull off that trade!

I think you would be laughed out of the room suggesting that trade in all honesty

collingwood would have to give up thier first which will be used on darcy moore

Sure for Beams. Witts is purely your pocket change after the main thing. First rounder bare minimum or a 1st round worth.

Based on my expectations on each, id feel like a straight swap would be a serious win for Sydney.

A move i hope we dont consider.

Why would Hawthorne trade a Coleman medal winning KPF or an upcoming gun+first rounder for Beams? They aren't exactly overflowing with KPFs are they? Midfielders are easier to develop than key forwards.

Plus, if Rough is a fair trade, Gunstan and a first rounder is well overs
It is necessary to overpay for Beams. Hypothetically, Hawks are trying to lure Beams from Collingwood and that would not happen unless Collingwood consider the deal clearly in their favour.

It's not the value of the players I'm disputing just the actual players in question. Roughead and Gunstan are worth a lot more to the Hawks than they would be to other teams

and my answer was in response to Hawks trying to trade for beams, not value based. I stated it would cost roughhead or gunstan plus pick to take Beams from Collingwood, I never suggested they have equal value

It'd be around his value at present but at that price I'd be happy for the Crows to take a leap of faith and play him as a full time HFF and not trade him. I have seen a little of Billy Stretch...he'll be a nice pick up in the 20s

Why would we trade our best youngish mid when we are short on mids?

Doesn't want much. They'll be lucky to get a bag of chips once he's a free agent. You'd think they'd settle for something sufficient not jump straight at overs.

Both gunston and Roughead are untouchable
I think you guys should give up Gunston before he becomes a free agent and you get a packet of chips for him. :drunk:

Beams is FA next year no?

Gunner is 4 away at least.

Wrench or spanner? Hammer maybe?

I put this up on our board, not sure what others think. Turbocat didn't mind it! -

If we offered Melbourne Jaksch plus pick 4 and our end of round 1 they might swap pick 2 . Then we might go to St Kilda with O'Rourke plus pick 2 knowing we will take Petracca leaving them with McCartin. Then Melbourne may swap pick 3 to Swans for Tom Mitchell. In this -

GWS get Petracca but lose pick 4, end of round 1 and Jaksch, O'Rourke

St Kilda get McCartin and O'Rourke but give up pick 1

Melbourne get Jaksch and Mitchell plus our end of round 1

Sydney get pick 3 but lose Tom Mitchell (is he worth pick 3?? In this draft maybe)

And now I have a headache!! Not sure if this works and is even rational but anyways I tried!!

My biggest concern is what you said - Mitchell is not worth pick 3. Melbourne are getting ripped off.

You guys are also giving up a lot for Petracca.

I think you would effing crazy to give up that much!

Jaksch and pick 4 for pick 2 is more than fair. No need to add end of 1st round pick.
Then gamble on Saints taking McCartin, leaving Petracca for you.
