Well surely he wont get the figures that are speculated. Think 500k sounds there abouts. What band is that?
I think he might get them - he's had a couple of leaner years since his AA appearance but he's had a bit of a rough deal for much of that. GWS, GC, Hawthorn and Fremantle, to name a few, are sides with cash that would be keen to bring him across. I don't think he's quite worth the $700k-$800k, but I have little doubt he'll get somewhere around there. Perhaps not at Hawthorn, but somewhere.

$500k would probably be either band 2 or 3, I'd say.

Well hopefully he stays at deeland.

Chip won't go to the GWS, he wants success.

Well then you'd be wrong.

Yep, if you can't tell Essendon's backline is one of the best in the league, you don't know football. Our forward line is shocking at ball retention, and midfield is just ok in regards to defensive pressure, yet we defend damn well.

Individually our defenders stack up very well, Hooker top 5 key defenders this year, Baguley top 5 lockdown smalls, Hibberd top 3 running defenders. Considering our 6th-7th best defender is Dustin Fletcher, you'd think were going alright in that regard.

Bombers no doubt have a good defence, but Pears isn't much chop.

In saying that he is the type of guy that we would look at.

Problem for mine was we bulked him up too much, tried to make him genuine KP when he's too short, essentially he should be playing the Stratton role with a bit more run. Still think he'd be worth a crack for another club, but I'd be happy to release him for nothing to give him a chance. If he can stay fit for a year and slim down/build his endurance, I can still see him making it.

How about this.

Jed Anderson + 3rd rounder for Griffiths?

Probably a bit in our favour.

I'd probably value Griffiths around pick 30-35 and Anderson around pick 18-23. Though I doubt Hawks will want to trade him with some ageing midfielders combined with him showing good early promise.

Each to their own, but I think a guy that has shown glimpses of brilliance and was taken in the top 20 is worth a bit more.

I would love Anderson at the tigers!

He was taken five years ago and has only managed 29 games, though. Also can't hold down a spot in a Richmond side struggling for attacking power. He's one of those cases where the club would value him higher than the market would - he'd get suitors, but they wouldn't offer as much as the Tiges would like for him.

It's all relative though, heaps of KP talent in the upcoming draft that a side might want to punt on. I'd take him, as I'm a fan of Griffiths potential (though I have been underwhelmed by his performances this year), but not at the expense of a talent like Anderson.

Yeah probably a fair assessment, word was the saints were offering late 20s for him last year.

Hopefully they do this year.

He's a tough one to be honest. Hard to gauge. I've been a big fan for a few years now and think he'll develop well, but there's just so much that's awkward about him: height that's somewhere between ideal KPP and ideal ruckman, athleticism that's somewhere between ideal CHF and ideal FF, probably not good enough one-on-one to become that genuine monster...it's tough to see where he ends up playing his best footy and I can see why you trialled him in the back line for a little while. I think CHF is his spot, roaming up towards the wings and offering a marking presence, but I'm still not set on where his ceiling is.

That said, he'd likely slot right in at the Dogs and I would be reasonably happy to have him for the right price.

One of Griffiths or Vickery will be traded, both would have a few suitors.

Would probably rather keep Griff, but your right about nearly everything you said.

I would trial him on the wing for a bit.

I think he's a similar prospect to some of your boys already, very Cordy or Roughead (before the back line move) like. I think he should be developed as that second ruck/third tall forward in the Hale vein. If you could get 30-35 goals and 20% ruck time a game out of him, he could be a steal.

Yeah, I can see that in him. To be honest though at this point I'd just be looking to get quality height through the door (for the right price, of course), whether they're similar to what we have or not. Cordy has taken some fantastic steps forward with the Footscray VFL side this year but is still far from a guarantee to make it, while Roughead moving back to the forward/ruck role seems unlikely - at least in the short term. Griffiths would be far from my first target, but should it look unlikely that our first pick goes to one of the "big three" in the draft, he's the type of player I'd be looking at bringing in. We don't exactly have a lot of expendable assets so getting somebody like Griffiths that can develop for a relatively cheap price makes sense - so long as we don't overdo it.

Doubt any club will be looking to trade for Vickery. Honestly the guy isn't work a top 20 pick. Id rather gamble in the draft then trade for him.

I want him to go to a good club, so that gives him the best chance to play well.

We don't develop anyone.

Why would melbourne have 3 and 4?

Frawley worth a late first round at best. Lol at dees thinking there ending up with two top 5 picks

Go eat a dick;

Melbourne will have at least one of picks 3 or 4.. ..you'd think.

Im pretty sure the Dees can match 500k. He may be after success, but I dont think he'll sell himself too short. Free agency ups the value of a player massively - especially a 25 year old KPP who is one of the only decent players left.

If he goes anywhere it will be Suns, Hawks, Cats.

Surely the Dees can offer Frawley big money. Whether or not they want to and whether or not he wants to stay separate matters, but it's not like his club should have salary cap pressure.

I'd say GWS is his best bet of getting even more money than Melbourne can offer, and if he wants success then it's a toss up between Geelong, Hawthorn, Sydney and Freo in terms of who can offer what. He's not going to get a Franklin type deal where a top club makes him their marquee guy - he's just not worth it.
