Trade hypotheticals

That's a massive insult to Bonti, the dogs would hate for him to have a career like Westhoff.

Westhoffs had a crap career due to our poor list management - not himself or talent.

He is a 3rd tall/floating 3rd def/winger linkman

He's been made to play ruck, 1st/2nd key forward and key defender most of his career.

On the occasion butcher and trengrove play, Westy always plays very well.

Justin Westhoff has so much talent and is so athletic, I just feel that he doesn't impact as many games as he should. His good is amazing but his bad is horrible.

If we had decent structure and weren't one of the worst teams in history for a few years, we would probably be saying different things. Even now, he is made to play 2nd key forward and ruck because Butcher hasn't come on, Redden (2nd ruck, hasnt played a game this year) and Trengrove(backupbackup ruck) is also injured. And when were getting pantsed, Westy goes back in defence.

He plays best when he plays the roaming licence to go where needed role. Much like chad cornes had for a time here.

Westhoff is a champion player - full stop. he's not going anywhere but would be worth a fair bit to premiership contenders Freo and the Hawks
A unique talent that doesn't get the accolades he deserves.

The guys not a champion player, he's 28 and hasn't had a champion career. He's an elite footballer but struggles to put it together consistantly.

So Geelong supporters what would you say about this trade?
Fringe for fringe. How about our Dean Towers for your Mitch Brown at the Cats?

I have nothing against Mitch Brown but what do you want him for, doesn't really fit your needs. Probably take it, if we had a sweetener, change our fourth round for your third.

Sounds about right for value. Not sure if we need a Towers type, with Murdoch, Motlop and Varcoe already.

Yeah fair enough, perhaps taking advantage a little.
Im sure there is room for a Delideo / Suckling and some extra there tho (2nd rounder was a bit of an insult)

Do you have a trade in mind that would get it done.
Keep in mind Hill is off the table as that seems to be the first guy other teams are going for

Read that bit....

With Frawley likely leaving, I doubt the club would want to sign a free agent as it would lessen any potential compensation.
Yeah my bad, good call on that, so that leaves Melbourne and the Dogs out here unless they trade.

Probably a second for Lyons and a third, or something similar. Perhaps Pears.
We don't have a 2nd. Pears, as he's a KPP, might be worth a bit more. Maybe Pears + 3rd for Lyons + 2nd?

Duncan would be exactly what West Coast need, hard body, can play different roles, knows how to get inside and outside ball, kicks goals and takes marks. Much better player than Scelwood.

Yeah…. Id rather offer our Rd1 for scooter…. and keep Duncan.

Still fair value both sides for mine.

Go Catters

Not too sure about getting Towers but would add a 3rd to take your second.

The GWS constantly tell us that they want senior players to in injected into their side to help develop the kids.

Question. On a scale of 1-10 how far off the mark would a trade of

Jamison + Walker + #6 for Boyd + Jaksch

Jamison just turned 28, so he has a good 3-4 years left in him, and would hold down the KPD while others develop (and can help them develop too). Could be especially valuable if Davis heads back to Adelaide as rumoured.

Walker has also just turned 28 and can be a very dangerous HBF/HFF, offering dash out of the back line.

#6 could allow the GWS to target another kid, be it a midfielder or back.

Jaksch is one of their stock piled KPP who may find it hard to break into the GWS side.

Id say light years away....

You'd have to be willing to give up a genuine star.
Aside from Murphy I dont think there is a genuine star on your list with trade value.

Very Unlikely, Boyd will be in the untouchable category imo.

A straight trade for Jaksch would be more likely.

Jaksch is uncontracted (I think) so I guess he'll get a big say in where he wants to go to, market value would be some where from a late 1st rounder to an early 2nd rounder.

If St Kilda & Melbourne finish bottom Jaksch could get back to Victoria through the PSD and GWS would get nothing for him, GWS might be forced to accept a 2nd rounder.

Jamo, Walker and Jaksch all worth around pick 20 each, give or take a little. Boyd worth pick 1.

So: 2 x picks 20 and pick 6 for pick 1 and 20. Basically a downgrade from pick 1 to 6 with 20 thrown in. Not far off the mark but still unders. I reckon if you changed Jamo or Walker for Murphy or Gibbs (not gonna happen) it would be a fair trade. Both worth around pick 10.

That would be: Pick 6, 10 and 20 for pick 1 and 20. Effectively pick 1 for pick 6 and 10. Fair trade.

He "supports" Carlton, but "ardently" couldn't be further from the truth.

It's a possible destination, but it won't be because he picked them as a token side to support as a kid.

Fair enough. I don't know the bloke. I was of the opinion that he and his family are ardent Carlton supporters.

As a hypothetical, if GWS had the option of Lachie Henderson(24yo CHB) or StK's No1 Draft Pick, which would they prefer at their Club from next year and going forward?

Fair enough, I wasn't having a go, just passing on what I know about him. Very laid back character.

If I was in their position, Henderson. It's a hard decision, because they could pick a future gun in Petracca at #1 rather than the likes of McCartin and Wright, but Henderson's a gun tall that can help spread the age profile of their list.
