If we were definitely after Reid I'd have no issue with it at all. I'd look at what he did in 2011-2012 when Goodes and himself were the main targets, then they had Mummy/Pyke/LRT who played 3rd fiddle roles, he played 45 games and kicked 53 goals in this period as a 19/20 YO.

Tippett/Buddy have taken away what he was previously groomed for and that was as a number 1 KPF, plus he had that recurring quad injury last season? Now he's been asked to be the new LRT, a player with his potential at nearly any other club would not be asked to do that type of role, this role is meant for the competitor types who are not as gifted/are limited. I'd be happy to do some sort of trade with Sydney like our 1st for Reid and either steaknives or upgrades like our 3rd for their 2nd, our 4th for their 3rd etc

Griffiths offers a bit more as a package, I mean he has the size. Now whether I'd pay a early 2nd rounder is another thing, but a team might, I mean Welligham got a first rounder!

Wellingham has gone backwards since jumping on that trampoline, Griffiths does seem to have more to his bow than Vickery but from what I've seen of him, he's competent as a 2nd ruck and has a monster of a right leg on him.

Which is why SOMEONE will pay an early to mid 2nd rounder. I mean Wellingham was daylight robbery from Collingwood, but Griffiths if traded would be somewhere in the 2nd round.

At the time Dawes was seen as daylight robbery from Collingwood and Wellingham was about fair value after a couple of solid seasons and helping them win a flag, perhaps now their value is been shown as the opposite as a fit injury-free Dawes at Melbourne is of way more importance to his club than Wellingham at WCE.

Yeah someone would probably stump it up if they really needed/wanted him. Brisbane? Freo? Port? I was about to say St Kilda but they've got a few already like him like Stanley, White and Lee, also Bruce is playing forward too so probably not required there.

Given we are in the trade hypothetical section and that there is a lot of talk about Boyd specifically being worth a top 3 pick plus a player, what is Hawkins worth. 2 x top 5 picks?..# x Top 5 and and top 20?

He is proven. He is still young. And he is clearly the best power FF in the game. He is most definitely NOT someone im looking at losing but given the value estimates for Boyd i thought it would be interesting to see….

Of course, he is a RFA in 2015 so it might bare some relevance sooner than I thought….

Don't think we would give our pick 5 or 6 whatever we end up with for Mckenzie however I'm more than happy to trade down that first pick into the 12 - 18 range and take a punt on McKenzie purely because we can afford to take a risk with our first rounder (because of our recent draft successes).

FWOW I think all of Collingwood, Fremantle and Richmond might heavily consider Jones. He had to carry our foward line from the age of 20 and struggled getting the number 1 forward when technically hes a number 2 option. A team such as collingwood could move Reid back into the defence to sure up their KPD issues and have Jones play at CHF. I don't want to get rid of Jones at this stage, but I think a couple of teams will be more interested in him than Griffiths.

Jetta I think still has plenty to offer, despite having his papers stamped, and would benefit from a change of environment if anyone's bold enough to take him. Howlett is probably 18-22 in the list but is well-built and a solid contributor.

Yeah, I understand the logic, I wouldn't have suggested it if I thought Jetta was worthless. I still think he's more likely to be delisted than traded. The hypothetical is something more like Lyon making him work in Freo's system, for example - he was never the most tactically-savvy player, but if that was fixed up, there's plenty of talent to work with.

Wellingham has gone so far backwards that he is averaging 2 less possessions then he was at his best.

Wellingham has been shit for west coast. Very poor trade. I was on the fence about it, thought it was slightly overs.

I guess we'd have Ben Kennedy instead. Definitely would have been better.

Personally I'm happy to persist with White for a season or two until Witts & Grundy (W&G) develop more. Most of his time to date has been as 2nd KPF instead of 3rd. He is competent as a backup ruck but not competing against teams with two genuine rucks. Without having seen Griffiths play I don't see someone his age and size (not experienced enough and probably not mobile enough) offering us anything more than depth behind W&G. As for Lynch - didn't live up to expectations but still helped us beat Carlton early 2013 when Jolly was injured.

Agree that there'd be more interest in Jones than Griffiths but would have thought there's more talk about latter because Dogs unlikely to be trading Jones? (or am I missing something?)
