Trade hypotheticals

Ah I think I just died a little inside.
If Sloane leaves, I leave.

I like the ideas in this thread.

Carlton get rid of Gibbs and our pick 5-6, for a key forward. Right. But now we have a decidedly more shit midfield with Carrazzo/Robinson back to being a key player.

Adelaide get rid of Dangerfield and Sloane, to get Cameron + 2 good picks. They then use those picks to get midfielders. So they now have 18 y.o midfielders (Crouch x2, Grigg, + 2 more) and 4 young key forwards + JPod.

Why don't people just put up hypothetical trades that make sense and don't set clubs back 3-4 years???

Whoa talking about over rating a youngster - he barely gets over 15 touches averaging 13 touches per game. He could improve but you want a genuine young star at pick 4. IMO anyway... don't rate him as highly as Brad Crouch or Dion Prestia

So you get rid of him for Shane Edwards and pick 10?

Right.

Mainly because his last 4 weeks have been outstanding now that he's finally injury free and stringing some games together.

Dont get me wrong Crouch is a jet too. Glad we have him!

I dont rate Prestia. Has shown that without ablett he's nothing.

Agreed. Would offer our first rounder for him (which will be earlier than Richmonds) and then some change (if we had any of interest to GWS).
If WHE was on the table I'd offer pick five and pick 23(ish) for him and another player.

Pick 5 for Hoskin-Elliot.
Pick 23 for Liam Sumner is probably slight overs, or Tim Golds is defiantly overs.

So I'd being going to GWS with the Sumner offer first, then move it the Golds offer.

But in saying that, I expect him to stay at GWS.

Guys that teams should realistically look at (trade/free agency), if I was a list manager I'd be inquiring about all this guys at their respective clubs. So if you support the club of one of these players, what is a) likelihood of them accepting a move and b) what you would ask from Carlton. Obviously I'm pretending to be a list manager from Carltons perspective, but threw in a few more options (Garlett, Waite) for shits and gigs.

My view is that all these guys are talented and would add to Carltons list, or in the case of Waite/Garlett/Sewell, another teams list.

Matthew Leuenberger
Jeff Garlett
Jarrad Waite (FA)
Elliott Kavanagh
Billie Smedts
Seb Tape
Jono O'Rourke
Will Hoskin-Elliott
Kristin Jaksch
Cam McCarthy
Brad Sewell (in the Daniel Cross/Paul Chapman/Josh Hunt vein, extending a career with a late pick for either leadership/experience or the final bit of the puzzle)
James Frawley (FA)
Cam Delaney
Mason Wood
David Astbury
Alex Johnson
Tom Mitchell
Craig Bird
Shane Biggs
Zac Jones
Gary Rohan
Shaun Higgins (FA)

I'm sorry, you've not only come to the wrong board but you've also definitely come to the wrong thread. :D

SterlingArcher , you're welcome to Higgins at any price that gives us an additional first round draft pick, immediately following our first pick.

Go for it... You know you want to.... :p

He is a restricted free agent right? You know you want to match the offer and then give him up for a 3rd rounder ;)

True! :p But I mean seriously, Carlton giving up Gibbs in his first B&F season for a 19 y.o kf, as well as our pick 6? Like it's not even a hypothetical...

I know! Boyd for Gibbs and Murphy or GTFO. ;)

I find it staggering that you don't think any Hawks would add value to Carltons list. I think Brad Sewell could present great value to a young midfield like Melbourne. The true value being the transition he could make into a coaching role after a year or two. Brad is a tough uncompromising footballer, he is also quite articulate and has a great footy brain. He is also a free agent so we are unlikely to get anything meaningful for him.

Your list is also void of any proven key forwards something Carlton desperately need IMO.

Boyd ontraded for Aish + Taylor + Hanley
Sure you don't have a to-be-delisted player you can throw in there? Or maybe a FA who, for some bizarre reason, wants to be traded instead of just sign with another club?

I do actually. I don't think any are realistic. Would Hawthorn give up a young midfielder, when Hodge/Mitchell/Sewell/Burgoyne are in their twilight? Would they give up O'Brien, when Buddy has just left and are just a knee away to Roughy/Gunston from playing him for a season? My list is void of proven key forwards? Ok, who could we get? Roughead? Tex? Schulz? Lol nope. Others like Jones? Dawes? Tarrant? Na, would rather not waste my time and just put my bets on Henderson-Casboult development...

Sewell would add to a young midfield like Melbourne or GWS - which is pretty much exactly what I said. I don't think he'd add anything to our list (other than as a coach) considering Judd-Murphy-Gibbs-Thomas is a fairly experienced quartet and guys like Simpson, McLean aren't kids...

I think maybe Ben Griffiths might be tradeable from Richmond. Few clubs will be looking for a big KPF who has had all the development work done. Maybe Lions, Saints, Freo or Carlton.

What do you think we would get in return?

2nd rounder?

Guys what do u think Billie smedts is worth in terms of a trade. No doubt a talented player but hasn't reached any real heights so far in his career

No I think Leppa will put his faith in Freeman and Close and we will probably get Hammelmann no need for him

Leppa has seen the talent Griffiths has when he was at the tigers.

Trust me, it's out of you and the saints.

Very little. Was putrid last friday and has had a very average career to date. But if you guys can't develop him into a serviceable player. What hope does anyone else have?

Really?? You certainly could not have seen Prestia play recently. Apart frm the heavy Carazzo tag when he still had 18 or so touches, he has been in the top 2 possession winners for Gold Coast in thier last 4 games with a game high 31 touches and 6 tackles against St Kilda 3 back. Without Ablett its obviously harder as he gets the tag. Prestia is the jet. Crouch could be anything, but at this stage he is probably only a moderatley fast aeroplane
