Trade hypotheticals

Just thinking to make that deal stick the Eagles need outside speed.

Colyer work better?
Did he get a show cause?

Trading someone like Colyer is a massive sticking point for me because we're so lacking in outside run and Colyer is a massive source of it for us.

Howlett I think might potentially be on the move as he hasn't re-signed yet, and he is a WA boy, but is more of an inside basher than a runner

Stienberg?

Suckling has played every game he's been available for since rd1 2012.

All 25 games in 2012 and every game so far 2014. He will not be put up for trade.
Want a bet furn .....wont be put up but there has been interest and we have listened .

Possibly. I'd be hesitant to trade a tall, even though we're getting one back. In terms of balance and replace-ability Howlett would be the one I think has the currency to bring in something decent but not hurt our depth too much, if at all

Inside mids the Eagles have an abundance of. Maybe this needs a rethink...

What do you think he is worth considering he is our of contract ?

It is a fact that we need midfielders but more the outside mids with pace . But if the price was right say our third rounder would consider ( show causes pending )
We probably don't have a Huge need for suckling . He is a great kick and I would love him at the eagles but surplus to our need . We already have hurn and McGovern who have cannons for legs , also schofield and bennell who are awesome kicks also + Ellis plays some HBF when fit .

Agreed especially considering how useless Daniher is in the ruck

Unfortunately there is really only one way I can see you getting a hand on Grimmers and that's a player trade.

The only thing we really need is 23-26 year old mids. Zaharakis is the player that jumps out.... Clearly that's a tough sell.

What kind of deal.... Hypothetically that is.... Would work there.

Clearly a first round pick (not ours) Grimley and another player...

1st go at this (hypothetical remember)

Hawks
Suckling, Grimley, Shoey and our first pick out

Zaha, ESS 3rd in

WB
2nd pick out

Shoey in

Essendon

Zaha 3rd out

WCE 1st pick, Grimley, WB 2nd in

WCE

Suckling, Hawks 1st

???

My head hurts. Not sure that this works... But.... Discuss.

3rd rounder would be my starting point but i'd want something a bit better. If you can get Waterman for a 3rd would you consider Howlett +3rd for WCE 2nd?

Oddhawk Zaka would be nye on untouchable. We're talking Jack Gunston or something pretty equivalent

Yeah I get that. Figuring you guys don't want to miss out on this draft!!

Grimley is the 2nd forward to compliment Carlise. You get a mid 1st an early second to pick up a Weller or the like...

I know in your place I'd want a gunston

Its a tough one normally it wouldn't be such a big deal but there are so many good players in that 25-35 range that it may be a sticking point due to howlett not being a massive requirement. Also isn't howletts kicking efficiancy a bit of an issue ?With Simpson being of the hawks mantra on kicking bringing in average kicks will probably not happen. He will have enough trouble with the bad kicks on our list already

Even worse. We need all the players we have that have genuine leg speed, you have just named the two players that are basically 'un tradeable'. Steinberg could be an option, Tayte Pears another although I feel that we will be largely not trading this year. More likely for a 2 for 1 deal with GWS again.

Don't want Howlett, will not improve our team, would prefer we go moneyball and pick up a state league player with good skills rather than get someone won't help us climb the ladder.

Steinberg is someone Hawthorn would bring in for SFA, and turn him into a regular consistent best 22 player.

I've seen them do it before.

Except it would go against what Hawthorn have built- he is a dreadful kick of the ball!

Yeah, his kicking looked a lot better at VFL level.

Could be a nerves thing, being on a list for 4 years and only just getting a game could do that to your first 15-20 games.

Maybe but he isn't a 18 year old kid, he is almost what you call mature age. His ball drop is horrendous, I have been closing my eyes when he has the ball saying 'give it to anyone else'. He can defend, but my goodness he can't kick.

You won't trade them. Kennedy would fetch the most though, mid to late first.

I doubt we would but there is still Talk on the Pies Board they are both not Re-Signed so they still might leave - Though I highly Doubt it

I won't comment on Broomhead as I haven't seen enough of him. However Kennedy has been royally shafted all year, if I were him I'd be holding off signing until he is given a guarantee of games.
