Trade hypotheticals

It's a good question and to be honest there aren't too many players on your list I'd be looking at as a realistic trade for Lucas. McInness is perhaps the only player I'd have any genuine interest in.

If we are to trade him to West Coast I'd probably rather a draft pick come the other way.

The obvious one is Smith but I believe he holds less currency than Lucas.
Doubt we'd offer up more than a third round pick for Lucas and that may be needed for Waterman.

Fraser McInnes for Kane Lucas. Done.

WCE fans one for you. You guys would certainly be keen to trade into the top 5 picks to potentially get brayshaw. In addition to your first rounder what/if are you willing to give up to get our first.

From an outside perspective their first, 2nd round plus McInness for your 1st and 2nd would be fair-ish

Pick 28 ish. Deal?

So what your saying is that Pick 5 + Pick 25 for Pick 10 + Pick 30 + McInness

He hasn't played one game at senior level in 3 seasons.
this is beyond ridiculous!

We want at least a similiar standard player in Elliot Yeo upgrade trade last who had shown something at AFL level and that was just the one pick downgrade.
Our KPP stocks are dire but we aren't going to sell the farm for that trade.

I really think west coast need another good midfielder for the now. if west coast were to put pick 10 and 28 on the table as a package, what would clubs offer.

If McInnes has anything to offer its potentially a small win win.

I think he does but he is stuck behind a plethora of talls at WCE. At the very least he will be a quality tall defender with a chance of developing into a forward.

As for Lucas, he was a better u18 prospect than Mitch Duncan but it hasn't turned out that way. I thought he looked good early for Carlton but copped that bad hamstring injury and hasn't looked the same since. I would back our medicos in to build him back up again.

I was keen on Smith a few years back but he seems to have gone backwards.

I just don't see what role he'd play at Carlton and I'd certainly rather keep Lucas if that was the offer on the table.

I had a feeling it may be looked at favourably which probably indicates it's not a particularly realistic trade.

Lucas has not cemented his place in our senior side and does have his detractors but he has shown he can play at AFL level and I genuinely do not believe he's a lost cause.

McInness hasn't done anything of note as yet - and yes I am aware of the competition he faces for a senior spot - but I'd imagine if that was on the table we'd want something extra to be coming our way.

Well from a purely draft perspective I wouldn't be offering anything before pick 50.
Which would mean at a stretch our third round pick, more likely our fourth.
We just have no need to get Lucas. He doesn't really provide us with anything we're lacking.

Sure but we are talking about a backup 21yo KP player vs a backup 24yo midfielder. It's really just trading KP depth for midfield depth. I feel confident in McInness contributing at AFL down the track while Lucas is softish and lacks skills. He has little upside left and will need to get his body right to even play games.

Call me insane but I'd at least consider that. Kerridge is solid and pick 9 isn't that far off Aish's pick 7.

I'd only do that if we knew Aish wanted out. Kerridge has potential and shown some good signs and as you mentioned, pick 9 is close to Aish's pick 7. It'd be nice if it was in a stronger draft though. But I'd back our boys into pick up a quality player regardless.

WC aren't the Dogs.

They have Darling, Kennedy, Cox, NN, Lycett all in the forwardline at stages taking games, then Glass, Brown, McKenzie, McGovern and Schofield down back.

So in 2012-2014, that was two AA ruckmen, one of the best forwards in the comp and one of the best young forwards in the comp, to compete with.

Down back it was a 4 time AA and a captain, a player who will likely be AA this year and two solid, athletic KPD's to contend with.

Now that Cox and Glass have retired, you can add Lycett and McGovern to that list, both appear to be potential stars.

Not getting games is hardly a mark against. Heck Sinclair can't get a game and he often has 20+ possessions, 30+ hitouts and kicks multiple goals in the seconds. Would be in most teams starting 18.

Mcinnes is a huge developing KP prospect, who has great hands, moves well and can play a variety of roles. Personally I think he has a future as a defender. There is plenty of raw talent there, he just has arguably the best spine and ruck depth in front of him.

I'm interested in a player for player trade for Kane Lucas, who seems to be on the move. Which fringe player from the Eagles would Blues fans be interested in?

Would the Eagles really be interested in a fringe mid?

Not saying he doesn't have talent and he has had a tough time breaking into what I think is arguably the best spine in the game, but its a huge risk on our part to be downgrading a top 5 pick for him as well as a swap of second rounders in your favour as someone suggested is a fair trade. I would consider a straight swap for say our second rounder but to trade into the top 5 we need an established player particularly due to our lack of 23 - 27 year old players.

Big pass.

For perspective (and I certainly do not want to debate the merits of him) Port rejected a 2nd for Jacobs a couple of years back. I imagine it'd be a similar deal with McKenzie (who in my opinion has showed more at AFL level than Jacobs had at that time).

Who knows.

They need quality though, not just bodies on the list. Unless he steps up, his role as a depth mid would likely be the same at WC. He would be behind guys like Gaff, Rosa, or even Sheppard and Masten.

Yep. I don't really see much benefit for you guys unless you a) got him on the cheap or b) were confident you could turn him around. I'd be paying more for someone of quality and so immediate impact if I were in the Eagles' camp.
