Trade hypotheticals

We have to give up beams for pick 4, and we also have to give up pick 9 for Mitchell?....
Mitchell is worth around pick 8-12 from my point of view. You are giving up Beams for Mitchell and a pick upgrade into the top 4 of the draft. It's not a horrible trade for you IMO. Fair enough if you want a bit extra though (maybe a 2nd rd pick up grade as well?).

Leunberger to Sydney
Sam Reid and 4 to pies
Beams to lions
Would be my attempt for a deal to get done
Lions would want a little bit more from that I think (which is a sign we are giving up enough on our end at least). Still, not a bad suggestion at all - something to work with for sure.

Trading Leuenberger all depends on if we did get Ryder though, as then all of a sudden that deal looks a lot more realistic. Otherwise we are going to be left with one fit ruckman (Martin) and a 2nd year rookie ruckman. Trent West is unlikely to play until late in the second half of 2015.

Yeah obviously there would need to be sweeteners and so on. But beams is a quality mid you have to give up quality to get quality. Is he a free agent next year? But if Ryder breaks contract it would be Brisbane in Ryder and beams out 4 and leuy in that case I think you're mob would do it

No he is a FA at the end of 2016, but out of contract in 2015. So it will be a bit awkward for Beams to ask for just a one year extension. So the deal - if it's going to happen - really needs to be done via trade.

If the report about you're cap space is right he can easily say to the pies trade me there or I walk. And with the cap space could put a price high enough on his head to walk to you guys. But I doubt that happens he won't screw the pies like that and I don't think you blokes would either

What do people think of :-

Leuenberger & pick 9 >> Syd
Mitchell & pick 4 >> Collingwood
Beams & Sam Reid >> Brisbane

As a Brisbane supporter I am not overly happy with what we are giving up there, but at the same time, that is generally a good sign that it is an agreeable deal for the other team/s.

You're not happy to give up a draft pick and an injury prone ruckman for a gun midfielder and a flexible KPP both premiership players aswell.

Fair enough.

That's not even your side of the deal, so not sure what your so up in arms about there. If Sydney supporters say that then... fair enough.

Leuenberger is coming into his prime now at 26 for the start of the 2015 season he certainly will help them win games and with out a doubt be their starting ruckman.

Yea I hope we don't. Carlton and St Kilda really showed their lack of class on the negotiating table in not even trying to give us reasonable deals for Doc and Longer. We certainly won't be doing them any favors any time soon trade wise.

For Swans..
Suckers + 1st rdr for Mitchell + 2nd rdr
Takes pressure off retaining Mel.

I would rather loose Malceski then Mitchell to be honest. Plus coming off an AA season, if he is offered a three year contract @ ~500k a year will get a first rounder for Malceski. Not bad for a 30 year old in free agency.

Swanny might have something to say about that ;)

Swann is not our head of recruiting so he can say whatever he wants

Swann has more say in trade period than you'd like (speaking from experience). In fact, he (& McKay) were the ones who played hardball over Docherty.

Pelchan is paid by the saints not the lions, why the hell should he care if you guys get a deal you consider fair?

We wouldn't give up Reid or Mitchell for an injury prone player such as Leuenberger. We would be looking at High Draft Picks only if they were up for trade which they aren't seeing as Reid has 3 years left on his contract and Mitchell 2 years.

If clubs are still stuck in the dark ages of where they believe successful trading involves screwing over another club (Essendon, Collingwood, West Coast and Sydney) then good luck to them. Clubs that go in with a win/win mentality I believe will be the clubs that becomes winners when it comes to trading. It doesn't mean you can't go hard at the trade table, as long as you go hard and fair.

You say that with gunston as your avatar? That's rich. Hawthorn ripped off the crows with that trade.
