Trade hypotheticals

More likely a straight swap for Geelong's 2nd. Failing that it would be Geelongs 2nd and swap of firsts (but that the max I'd say) Couldn't see Geelong move out of the first round for Bastinac (as much as I like him) seems to be on the outer or just squeezed out with the arrival of NDS.

Its tough for Basti, hes really copped the downside of some of our improvers and the NDS addition. Gibbo stepped up massively this year as an outside player, we added NDS and then you have Wells coming back towards the end of the season.

His inside work is pretty handy too but Greenwoods season sort of shut that door for him as well :( great for North being able to play Cunners or JZ forward but again bad for Basti to find a spot.

All that said 1 injury and Basti slots in without us really losing anything and thats a pretty sweet thing to have at your disposal. Additionally Wells and NDS are no spring chickens so having a primed Basti in 2 years would be awesome.

Why doesn't Schroder get a game then?
My guess is he is too much LIKE GHS and there is probably only 1 spot atm. Geelongs midfield is young and I could only see a young (under 22) super tall or super quick mid getting a game over the others (Which unfortunately for Schroder he is neither). Put it this way they would have to be better than Caddy, Duncan, Motlop, GHS, Guthrie and obviously Stokes, SJ, Selwood.

A seasoned AFL mid would slot straight in though. Its why Schroder, Stringer and Hunt have all struggled to get in this year. Guys like Hartman, Lang and to a lesser extent Smedts and Thurlow have had looks this year and all seem to be ahead of those 3 atm.

Sinclair would not net more than Howlett. Howlett's overs for him.
Doubt it would get done for Howlett. Howlett wants to leave, Sinclair wants to stay, would take a better player or a pick/upgrade thrown in. How many guys with below average pace and disposal do you think West Coast can fit in the team? You need Sinclair more than we need to trade him.

Tom Mitchell to Carlton
Pick 6 to GWS
Lachie Plowman to Sydney
Don't think that's the worst trade ever, but GWS clearly winning out of it, IMO, as I doubt very, very much that Plowman would be worth pick 6.

Went pick 3 in his draft, but I think it's immensely safe to say that GWS reached for him there, because they were really keen on someone who played his sort of role and also loved all things Vic Metro and because they didn't think he would necessarily still be available at their next pick (pick 12), despite the fact that there was talk in the media just before the draft that there was a chance that he could still be available at 12 and that as such they may not need to take him at 3.

So we have someone who was almost certainly a "reach" at pick 3 in his draft and that was of course a very compromised draft, with Jaeger O'Meara and Brad Crouch having been taken out of the pool in the mini draft the year before, Joe Daniher being taken at pick 10, rather than 1 or 2, due to the father-son rule, Troy Menzel sliding considerably because of the massive question marks on his knees, etc.

So I doubt very much that many, if any, clubs would be willing to part with a top 10 pick for Plowman at this stage, especially since a pick in that range this year ought to get you a "proper KPP", like a Lever, Durdin, Moore, or Goddard.

I take it you now concede your assesment of Prestia is flawed. 13 votes (20th overall) Crouch donuts. What happened to the 40 possesion game? Jet Plane... not quite yet

Not yet, but i never said yet.
I said he will be the better player.

How many did Prestia have until Ablett got injured?

And i quote " Crouch is the better player now and always" Have fun with your assesments... Adelaide will win the next 10 flags in a row if you right.

Something a bit different:

Sydney Get: Pick 14
Lose: Mitchell
Gold Coast Get: Armitage
Lose: Pick 14
St Kilda Get: Mitchell
Lose: Armitage

Sydney get screwed! They are not losing Mitchell for pick 14, that is what they paid for him.

Easy for a Saint to get a great player in exchange for someone close to most don't rate
Armitage is a very good B grade player that is an experienced body Gold Coast need (Look when Ablett got injured). Mitchell was drafted at 21 (apologies if wrong) and isn't a regular in the Swans team so don't see how pick 14 is unreasonable

I'd pay 5th pick for him maximum 7th at minimum seems like a rip off too. Why would Suns need Armitage that just means another potential player from an expansion club loses his chance at a career
Look at Taylor Adams, Ant Miles and there are others who are good players but just could not fit into an expansion side because of so many exciting prospects and it looks like guys like Plowman and Jaksch could be joining them at different clubs.
