Brisbane more keen to trade Luey than Clarke... but 4 and Luey for Beams and a 3rd round swap seem ok... GWS, what do you reckon?

GWS are not going to trade contracted gun young kids who have shown no signs of wanting to go home. Hoskin-Elliot is going nowhere.

GWS have no need for Luey/no want to trade WHE.

GWS want petracca, having picks 3 and 4 or 4 and pending on frawley compo puts them in a strong position to get him

They may want Petracca but not at the expense of WHE. They have pick 4 JOR Jaksch and Sumner to offer before they have to throw away potential superstars.

Some spine work is needed yes, but they have to be worth that pick. THE KPP's are nowhere near as good as Petracca. If you have pick 1, 18 clubs would pick Petracca. Whenever you overpay or 'reach' for players you run a very big risk. Saints have next year and the year after to get talls. It will be a longish rebuild. They will have a top 3 pick next year, maybe a priority pick as well. You take Petracca and work from there.
If you have pick 1 and take the guy who would have gone at 2 based on needs, that's not a reach at all. A reach would be having 5 elite mids but taking the 6th rated player before them because you need a tall. Also, Petracca wasn't even the consensus number 1 pick 6 months ago. To suggest he is miles better than the rest is just wrong.

For those that reckon there is no way we would get Shiel and pick 4 for pick 1, I asked Knightmare as a matter of interest what he would be asking from GWS if he was in our place and they wanted him really badly and Shiel and pick 4 is the exact trade that he put forward as the one that he believed was perfectly do-able.

Jaksch or O'Rourke and pick 4 isn't going to get it done.

I think Shiel would cost you pick 1 alone.
In this years draft I'd happily pay that for Shiel if my team had it.

I must have missed Knightmare's promotion to list manager at GWS.

Well thats 2 opinions. Im sure there are many others who say that is a big win for the Saints.

There's a fair difference between how a mock drafter values trades/players and how a club actually holding the players and picks does...

Based on last year's Tyson trade, Shiel + 4 for 1 would have us valuing Tyson (13gms) more than we do Shiel (50gms) which simply wouldn't be the case.

You must have also missed the part where I said "as a matter of interest". If you're not interested, you're free to not pay any attention to it, aren't you? :thumbsu:

I don't know why you think I'm not interested. I'm very interested in why GWS would do something crazy like throw one of their top four midfielders away to move up three spots.

Shiel + 20 for 1 maybe. Saints fans are getting greedy

Rumour going around is pick 4 + Shiel for 1 + 20.
Still not that great. I don't get why you would get rid of someone of the quality of Shiel for the chance of a midfielder that might be amazing.

According to AFL 360 (Gerard ) and SEN GWS are willing to do whatever it takes to get pick 1.

Always have to pay overs to get pick 1 anyway hence why it's rarely traded.

GWS apparently wanted pick 3 + Steven for pick 1 last year!
