Just wondering guys, but why would a club sitting 2nd on the ladder (the Hawks) be interested in the last teams best option FB? Nathan Carrol will be delisted... not traded. 28 years old and is not exactly that good at FB.

no-one will want either Meeson and Carroll, could not give away Carroll and wash your mouth out because Whelan aint going no-where

If Richmond is looking for a young ruckman replacing Simmonds, I think Richmond is the one.

How about this trade? (3 way deal)

John Meeson to Richmond. Richmond's 4th rounder (Pick 58) to Geelong. Geelong trade K Tenace to Melbourne?

This trade is benefit for 3 clubs:
1) Richmond gained a young ruckman at cheap expense.
2) Geelong gained a draft pick rather than delist Tenace (sooner or later).
3) Melbourne gained a young midfielder with pace (which the club is lacking) at cheap expense.

Where has anyone said that Hawthorn would trade for him? Try using a quote champ

You're a little behind on your knowledge of Melbourne, Carroll would be ranked 5th at best of melbourne key defenders, probably 6th.

Fail

You were the stupid ones trading for a crap ruckman. No we will not take him off your hands.

Fail

1/ Rivers
2/ Garland
3/ Martin
4/ Warnock
5/ Frawley
6/ Carroll

Nobody will trade for Carroll. He is lucky if he doesn't get delisted by the club. If you remember back to last years trade week, he was put up for grabs by Bailey before Bailey had even coached him. So after an ordinary year laced with several off-field incidents, I am sure that Bailey can't wait to piss him off.

As for Meesen, he hasn't come close to play senior football at the worst club in the league. Why would Richmond want him? If anything, that Tigers might look at someone like Jamar, who has actually got some experience up his sleeve and is a good tap ruckman.

Firstly, saw on The Heraldsun that Sydney is interested in Jeff White.

Can this trade be possible?

Trade A
Jeff White to Sydney for 3rd rounder (Pick 46)

Trade B
Jeff White, 4th rounder (Pick 51) + 3rd rounder (Pick 35) to Sydney for 3rd rounder (Pick 46) and 2nd rounder (Pick 30) as upgrade.

Trade C
Jeff White and 2nd rounder (Pick 19) to Sydney for 1st rounder (Pick 12) as upgrade.

Secondly, since Warnock selected Carlton as preferred club, how about Seaby from West Coast? If so, at what price?

I'll take C thanks Ed.

I don't know why Sydney would want to add another veteran to an already-aging list, but that isn't my concern.

Some good trade suggestions there KTLK. I would say B is the most realistic option, but C would be ideal. I think your valuation is pretty accurate, it will be difficult to get too much for White, but he certainly carries some currency.

C is good, but isn't really reality. Maybe a combination of B & C could get us somewhere.

White, Picks 19 & 35 for Pick 12.

Seems like were giving up a lot, but white's already gone so it's basically giving up pick 35 for a pick upgrade which could get us a classier midfielder or even maybe Lewis Johnstone, so we'd get the 2nd best KP forward to add to our No.1 pick.

Maybe it needs Sydney's 3rd round in there as well, so it would be White picks 19 & 35 for picks 12 & 47.

Not really worth it, we will probably have 4-5 picks so it might not be used.

Trade B
Jeff White, 4th rounder (Pick 51) + 3rd rounder (Pick 35) to Sydney for 3rd rounder (Pick 46) and 2nd rounder (Pick 30) as upgrade.

Sydney probably wouldn't do this, in a strong draft when they enter a period where they are probably going to rebuild they won't be wanting to push 2 of their picks back.

Trade C
Jeff White and 2nd rounder (Pick 19) to Sydney for 1st rounder (Pick 12) as upgrade.

Once again, Sydney probably wouldn't do that, but it's more likely than B imo, Maybe our PP + White, but when you think about that, White's value would be less than Green/Bruce's and most clubs would shirk at doing that for either of them...

Not interested in Seaby, He's an alright ruckman, but he isn't a whole lot better than Jamar, and that's the spot he would be competing for, he's also going to be 25-26 next year, so he's probably to old as well...

Maybe it needs Sydney's 3rd round in there as well, so it would be White picks 19 & 35 for picks 12 & 47.

This is what I'd think would be better, possibly our PP instead of our second rounder if it will get the deal done, that 5 place upgrade might be able to snare us Lewis Johnston, however we may also go for the same player at that pick as we would at our PP/2nd rounder...Sam Blease.
Anyway I think it's close to win/win a 5/7 place upgrade into the first round for us, Sydney get a still useful ruckman for two years and upgrade their 3rd rounder 12 spots.

Thanks Cannons and others for the vaulable comments.
I agree with you that Jeff White still have some currency. Let's hope the club can get something out of it. Something in small value is better than nothing. In addition, its good for Jeff White's footy career.

If Seaby isn't a whole lot better than Jamar. I'm assume the club should keep Jamar on the list. Please correct me here.
The question is which ruckman should MFC go for to replace White? None in the trade? or draft Roughead at Pick 35 or Naita at Pick 1? etc...

Seaby is better around the ground then Jamar, Jamar probably slightly ahead as a tap ruckman. Seaby is a slightly better overal player but not by a significant amount, if Seaby was really any good but being held back by a champion ahead of him he'd have moved on ala Simmonds and Jolly, but he's still at WC after 5 seasons & 97 games and played his least games in a season this year.

You've asked who we need to replace white and the answer is no one. White wasn't getting a game and was reduced to 3rd string by mid year and only played late in the year as a fairwell/injuries, so he won't be directly "replaced".

With Meesen being a spud and Spencer unlikely to be elevated we will need to add at least one ruckman to the list. Whether that's Naitanui at No.1 or Roughead or Redden at No.35 is anyone's guess.

Paul Roos has said tonight that they will not look at White.

Can we even trade White since we practically delisted him? Doesnt seem to make sense.

It does seem a bit funny, but we can still trade him, but like in any trade he has to agree.

Contracts run until 31st October every year so that they expire after trade week, so technically White (and anyone else delisted) is still on our list. We could probably still offer him a new contract right up until the first List lodgement on 31/10.

Not sure if Carlton would look at him either, especially if the Warnock trade goes through.
