Its that time of year again where majority of the games I play mainly sports start to roll out. Today is the day I'll start purchasing/pre ordering.

Just wondering what type of trade in value I would get for the following games.

Nba jam
Madden 12
FIFA 12
Wwe 12
Motion sports
Call of duty black ops
Beijing 2008
NHL 10
Call of duty mw3
Nba 2k12
Kinect adventures

Closest to the value gets a pat on the back

Depends where you go, EB and JB are slightly different. But going by my experience with trading in games, here's what you might get for those games:

Nba jam - $4
Madden 12 - $10
FIFA 12 - $12
Wwe 12 - $9
Motion sports - $6
Call of duty black ops - $9
Beijing 2008 - $4
NHL 10 - $6
Call of duty mw3 - $15
Nba 2k12 - $12
Kinect adventures - $7

TOTAL: $94

I just really took wild guesses, but honestly you don't get much for trading in games.

Sadly, thats probably about right. Trade ins dont get you much at all these days. Worst part is, after having bent you over, the retailer will then sell your games for 3 to 4 times what they paid you for it.

Correct me if im wrong, but i actually think game wasnt terribly bad for trade in value, too bad they're not around anymore though.

GAME was the best for trade in value, especially if you traded in newish titles. one of the standout trade ins was with AFL Live, a week after release, EB offered $35, GAME gave me $65, suppose that was part of their downfall though, too generous. 50% extra trade in value towards all the big titles was another good incentive to trade with GAME, 10 month old Black ops got me $55 towards MW3.

JB isnt too bad, just traded a bunch of games in with them, they have the advantage of not relying solely on gaming to keep their business afloat so you'll find you'll get more with Trade ins. They dont resell at ridiculous amounts either which is cool when you look at what they give you. For example, yesterday i traded in Starhawk & Twisted Metal at JB, both games retail new for $49.95, i got $20 for each. most other games i traded were from GAMEs closing down and came out on top with quite a few.

Black Ops gets you around $20 currently

NBA Jam would be $10-$15.

MW3 is about $27

Kinect adventures can't be traded without the Kinect Sensor

They're just ones i know roughly off the top of my head. At the moment though, if you trade $40 worth of stuff, you get a bonus $10 credit

I cannot believe people are commending GAME for trade in value. Before they went belly up they had a promotion where they'd give you a bonus $5 on top of the regular trade in value for your games per game.

I wanted to get SWTOR and another two games (have bought so many games this year that I cannot recall which games they were, but they were for the 360). My two local shopping centres with GAME also have EB and JB HiFi. JB HiFi had the three games cheaper (worked out to about $15 cheaper in total) than either GAME or EB. I first checked out EB's price for my trade-ins and was offered $55 for my five games. I then went to JB and they offered me $65. I then went to GAME, who were running the $5 bonus per game deal, and they offered me $67.50 including the promotion. Effectively, minus the promotion they were offering me substantially less than EB and even worse compared to JB. I told them what JB offered me and they said they would not match it. I told them what I was going to buy, picked up my games and went next door.

Bad business model is bad.

I didnt trade anything in when they had that promotion going so my last trade experience with them was around the time of Portal 2, AFL Live and a month or 2 prior to MW3.....actually no the last trade in i did with them was only days prior to them announcing administration, $130 for a 3DS when they were selling them at the time for $190 which i thought was pretty good but i did hear they got pretty bad with trade ins promotions like the $5 extra, lowering the trade in value so the $5 wouldnt impact too much.

All old news now though, they die and now JB is undisputed trade in king of the world :D:thumbsu:

Game may have had the best trade in value out of the big 3 but they wouldn't price match games below the cost price so it ended up the same anyway.

If I trade in games I usually trade at Gametraders or JB Hifi.
Eb is the best to trade in at when they have the extra trade credit promotions, that's usually the only time I trade in with them.

Anybody know what the best value is for a PS3 320GB?

Was looking to upgrade to the 500GB that EB has but the best they'll do is 160. Makes the 160GB worth more when considering the offer that they have. Ridiculous.

I never trade in games. Even if I haven't played it much, I hate the idea of getting substantially less for something than I paid for it. If I keep it, at least it stores its original value (in my mind) as long as it's in my possession :)

There's a new deal for the 320GB's starting next week. It'll trade in for more than the 160GB

So you never sell your cars then?

Not much stuff in life accrues value. Most things depreciate

It's not if it appreciates or retains its value in market terms. It's that once I trade something in, the depreciation is a crystalised loss. If I hold onto the games in my collection then to me it's "worth" what I paid. Plus I just like having a broad library of games and fear regretting trading something in that I'll want back later (like I did with my PS2 - have had to rebuy everything I missed :()

But yeah, this is pretty much exclusive to games. Cars I don't give a crap about.

What i have found to be the best practice is to trade the games in as soon as possible. Get the most amount i could. Like last year after footy season finished, i trade in AFL live and got $46 for it. I re bought it for $20 earlier this year

Or Driver San Francisco. Trade it in for $37 after i finished it, re bought the collectors a month ago for $42. I only had the standard last time

My PS2 stuff i traded in years ago, i was getting an average of $10 a game when i traded my console and about 20 games. I can re buy a majority of those same games for between $4 and $10. I'm only re buying them due to me wanting my son to have some games i can't get on 360 (Monsters inc etc) and for me a few classics like THPS 3, Smuggler's Run etc

Eventually all the games you traded in at a better price, will drop below the price you traded it in for.

Of course, its each to their own. But for me, this is how i go about it. Especially running into the end of year period. So many collectors editions to be had

Games don't physically lose their quality over time as a car does.

And if I'm trading in a game from last year it's not as though there will have been so many improvements in the gaming world that most of its value at purchase should have disappeared.

You'd be surprised at what you see when SOME people trade them! ;)

Ha, well, my games don't. I put them back in the cases and everything. :thumbsu:

With the current gen and all this DLC, season passes etc, there will be a time when your game doesn't do as much as advertised, dropping its value even more.

Servers will be switched off, losing a lot of features for said game. Its not like the old days where even today, you could pull your SNES out and play the games exactly as they were when released

So what's dropping their value by so much right now?
Just got to look at how many games there are on the market, it's flavour of the month these days for the little whipper snappers.
When the game sales slow, the market for the said games becomes slow so value drops.

I usually don't trade my games because as soon as I trade them in I want to play them again.

I also am really padantic about my games and keep them in as close to mint condition as I can because I believe I'm slightly crazy lol.
