Looks like Toy will now become the steak knives in a caddy deal 'IF' Caddy decides that he does want to leave.

I'd Still love the tigers to do a package deal of Nicholls,Caddy & Toy

Outside of Jack, Cotchin and maybe Martin, there isn't anyone else I would be too interested with on the Tigers list. :/ Obviously the players I have listed are untouchables, so it's extremely hard to see us dealing with the Tiges. Or such are my thoughts!

McGuane? You trollin'? :D
As i said i cant see you guys taking any of these players i mentioned & They are probably the only players that we would be looking to offload ATM.

What would your expectations be for the players mentioned, Caddy is the only player that has any real value with Nicholls & Toy very little it seems.

Not Trolling mate

Realistically, Caddy is a starting midfielder, even when Ablett, Rischitelli, Swallow, Prestia, Bennell, and O'Meara comes in 2013...Caddy is still one of our best onballers. So like for like I would imagine.

So whenever an opposition supporter looks at their midfield, you rate your top 6 or 7 midfielders and let us know which you would like to give up.

You see thats just the point, There is never a like for like - because what would be the point of trading if the player your getting is about the same as the player you need to give up.

The only player that would be in our starting midfield that GC would consider that would be similar to quality is Nathan Foley But to be hones I dont believe that Caddy is at Foley's level yet and would trade him.

I agree with you to an extent, but isn't that what a trade is? Or at least how to guage someones value.

I think Foley probably would be a handy addition in that trade to be honest.

I still don't think Caddy is going though to be honest. Multiple interviews where he's enjoying it now with the boys because he is playing every game (not injured like last year), and his girlfriend has moved up recently and got a job up here, father had successful surgery during the year also.

Nervous and excited for this years trade period for the possibilities...last year I was just nervous.

You see im i bit of a glass half empty type of guy, when i see caddy saying that he is happy atm ! i read it as - Essendon have got in my ear and they cant do the deal this year and told me to wait 1 more then i will end up there ....

You ask the question , isnt that what a trade is all about - 2 players of equal value trading places ?
Very rarely will that himo, the reason why i see clubs trading for players is to make their yeam better than what it is at the moment & usually contains a player that wants to move and the host club usually gets 'unders'in this case GC.

Whilst i personally wouldnt mind trading foley for caddy+steak knives (toy or Nicholls)
And yes i do believe Foley atm is worth more than caddy tbh

Just read in the Courier-Mail where the GC Suns have repeated what they have said all along, in that they will not trade away any of their top 10 picks or players. Whether it be for Tippett or anyone else. That's quite relieving!

Interestingly, Goddard still has yet to sign with the Saints. I think he's a longshot like Cloke, but I think he would suit our needs extremely well.

id love to have goddard running around in the red and yellow

Imagine the addition of BJ and Clokey. Along with Bock coming back and the natural progression of our kids with another preseason... We'd easily be pushing top 8.
Plus I would jizz in my pants.

Well guy's it was reported on a radio station in Melbourne called SEN by Dermott Brereton that a club has offered Goddard an offer too good to refuse. I would say it would be either GWS, Freo or us.

Would love him at the Suns next season. We have picked up our young guns and now it's time to trade for good eperienced players. Players would rather live on the GC then bloody Bankstown in Sydney, I have no doubt that if Goddard had to choose between GC and GWS, he would come to us.

You know, I've been thinking about that point. Similar to in the NBA with teams like Miami. Mid to small market teams obviously struggle as a general rule. However the ones that succeed are the ones that are geographically better places to live. I think the Gold Coast's sustainability will be aided by its ability to be successful by luring players based on its idealic living conditions (beach and sun let's be honest). So yeah I think that's a really good point you make. Let's hope it works in practice not just theory!

what sort of role would goddard play for us? i think we need kpps to be honest

Yeah not sure he is a necessity for us, fantastic player, great leader. But I think a Cloke or Tippett would be far more beneficial for us.

I would imagine Goddard playing a half forward/midfield rotation role if he was to land at our club. Haven't heard or read much on him coming this way though.

got enough of those type players anyway.. plus we cant have him and cloke/tippett

We just have to wait and see over the next 2-3 off seasons.

What really is pissing me off is that the media thinks GWS have recruited better then us. Sure they have more mature bodied players but so what! There is no way that I will agree with anyone who says GWS have had a better season then us or have a better future. We pushed Essendon when they were in their best form and almost knocked em off, we were down to Fremantle by 1 point with 5 seconds left. We beat Richmond when their season was on the line.

There has been way more positive signs from us then GWS. Sure they beat us but when you are a second year team in the AFL full of young blokes and you play against a team younger then you, then you will most likley get ahead of yourself which is what we did. The more we mature the more we will be prepared to win the games that we are expected to win.

If we get rid off Brennen and Krakouer, then we should go after Goddard and Cloke. We need to trade rather then make draft our number 1 priority. If we get those two players then we can aim for a top 10 finish maybe even 8th. The young players will have another season under their bealts and start to settle in the AFL after 2 seasons and we can expect to see more consistent performances.

Taking a gander at the Saints board, they appear to be content giving Goddard 500-550k a year and not much more. His form must have really taken a nose dive.

In the world of FA, I can see this as a big reason as to why he may not have signed yet? And I would personally not be too against giving him about 600k a year if we have room. Front load him like heck on a 2-3 year deal, and that would be his career over most likely. Then we can still afford the kid re-signings.

Apparently good friends with McQualter too. Added bonus? :D
