I can see us not doing much this period which would be really disappointing.

Hope to get Melbourne's pick 21 for Shane savage. Then hopefully use it to pick up Garlett

Emma Quayle say theres still a decent chance Garlett won't get drafted. 21 would be a big call.

I'd be happy with that. Think that's a reasonable deal from the Dees as well. Savage could be a very good player for them.

Imagine we sign Chappy.

Then we play Geelong in the 2014 GF. He gets best on ground and we win the flag. I would die a happy man.

Geelong would go into meltdown- from the club down to the supporters. I heard on radio 10 000 cats supporters signed a petition to keep Chappy. I'm actually surprised Cats didn't sign him for one more year, he looked good in the finals.

I bet he is angry, hungry and angry... His mission: win another flag and prove them wrong.

Welcome Chappy. The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

COMPENSATION

A club that has a net loss of players transferring to/from other clubs as free agents in one transfer period is entitled to compensation via National Draft picks allocated by the AFL.

The compensation formula produces a points rating for players based on:

1. The new contract of the free agent;
2. The age of the free agent.

Draft picks are allocated to clubs based on the net total points for free agents lost and gained during the transfer period.

Draft picks will be allocated to one of five places:

• 1st round
• end of 1st round
• 2nd round
• end of 2nd round
• 3rd round

In applying the formula, an expert committee reviews the formula outcomes. The committee has the power to recommend alternative outcomes to GM – Football Operations where the formula produces a materially anomalous result.

Come you Bast,.**ds, IF a single later 1st round pick is not anomalous with a 9million$ contract I do not know what is.
Mark Evans, last year you whinged about our compo picks or lack of for Tom Murphy and Clinton YOung, dont be a hypocrite this year GIVE US THE EXTRA PICK!!!!!
Problem is that we are Hawthorn and reigning premiers.

Compensation just became another way for the AFL to give a leg up to clubs that they want to help. Case in point, Port Adelaide last year.

We will get royally shafted with the compensation, nothing surer. I mean if they can't offer two picks for the biggest contract in AFL history, when will they? (pppsssttt, when it's the swans losing a free agent)

Imagine if Clarko was serious ?!?!

Longer isn't bad -- I have seen Lowden play some outstanding games for Box Hill - he may be a surprise next year , my thoughts are Lowden is replacement for Bailey , Longer is a replacement for Hale , Grimley is a replacement for Buddy .
Fully agree!!!

I heard McLachlan interviewed by Barrett and he did not appear to be well briefed on the details of possible compensation. In fact he stated it was not his area of responsibility and that Mark Evans and Andrew Dillon determined that. Also, he did not appear to know who was on the panel that determined the level of compensation.
Having said that I am not hopeful of getting multiple picks or even a higher pick.
Nevertheless until Evans or Demetriou discount the possibility there is a very slim chance we may be adequately compensated.

Does anyone else feel like Collingwood always do really well out of the trade period every year ? Last year they got a great pick (Grundy), Lynch, and Young ,,,admittedly it didnt amount to anything..but this year again it looks like every available talent (adams, white) is headed to the pies..
Pies are killing it. Next year they could well have a forward line of Cloke, Lynch and White. Imagine if the pies were not killing it, their forward line may look like Anyone, Lynch and White.

McLachlan is a lightweight and inept.

And McLachlan is being groomed to take over from Demetriou.

It would be like going from Saddam Hussein to Captain Kangaroo!

Mark Evan's will be on that compensation Panel.
Let's hope sanity will prevail! wouldn't complain with 1 compensation pick as long as it's Pick 1..! :D
Make it happen Mark!
I honestly believe we deserve it.

9 year 10 million dollar deal.

Fair compensation. Even if they gave us a 17 year old that was going to go in next years draft (kind of like Jesse Hogan). That would be fair and wouldn't affect this years draft
