Playing list manager for a second, ignore this if you're not interested in a bunch of complicated hypotheticals that won't happen.
It seems that Essendon are not satisfied with pick 22 for Crameri, and given that Essendon are supposedly interested in Sewell, perhaps we could facilitate a three way trade between the clubs?
Something like
WBD gain: Crameri, pick 52 (Hawthorn)
WBD lose: pick 22, pick 38
ESS gain: pick 22, Sewell
ESS lose: Crameri, pick 44
HAW gain: pick 38 (Dogs), pick 44 (Essendon)
HAW lose: Sewell, pick 52
Then looking at the Savage trade, I don't think we will be able to gain Carlton's first round pick, even as an upgrade on our first, so inevitably, I think we will get 28 and some pick swaps. I don't think it's fair but it is what it is. Sav wants to go and I don't think we'll force his hand unless Carlton are unreasonable.
CARL gain: Savage, pick 38
HAW gain: pick 28, pick 29
Then finally there is the Longer trade. I don't think our first on it's own would be quite enough. And with Brisbane's list situation, I think we could also offer Grimley in a trade. Some will shout me down but remember when Lisle was the next big thing? I'm willing to gamble that Grimley won't be much special at AFL level.
BRIS gain: pick 19, Grimley
HAW gain: Longer
Now I'm aware that convoluted trade scenarios made up on BigFooty never actually eventuate but I just did this for a bit of fun. Ultimately this would leave us with an overall of:
IN: Longer, pick 28, pick 29, pick 44
OUT: Savage, Sewell, pick 19, pick 52
Ultimately with Franklin, Ellis, Guerra, Osborne and Bailey not being on our list next year, we would end up going into the draft with picks 18, 28, 29, 34 and 44. Possibly upgrading Langford/Ceglar if we think we're better off delisting a couple more players.
