Fantastic get by the Hawks in McEvoy, excellent ruckman, and I recall quite a few games this year when he was playing across the defensive line and clunking every ball that went his way: good hands, good mobility, good ruck ability. I think we did good there.

Still, didn't want to lose Savage, but I gues that's the price you pay for having a bit of depth.

Wouldn't mind us getting Longer either, mainly due to Hale's age and his coming retirement (can't see him playing for more than 1-2 years) so a duo of McEvoy/Longer in the ruck would be very beneficial as well as one of the best ruck combos going around. Just can't let Brisbane give it to us from behind though in terms of how much they want for him.

Would like us to land one more established midfielder or half forward, then I could safely say I'd be happy with this trade period. And on face value, the McEvoy trade is brilliant. Well done Hawks.

Seriously don't think we need Longer anymore. I really hope we don't try to get him.

Longer can't play forward so there is no point recruiting him to play for Hale. Longer is a full-time ruck, and with Big Ben, we don't need him anymore. If Big Ben gets injured, we still have Hale, Ceglar and Lowden. I think that we should really invest some time into Grimley as a replacement for Hale. No to Billy Longer. Keep compensation pick!

Honestly, we should be able to get longer in the PSD.

Get him to nominate a tough, front-loaded contract to scare teams off (we can pay with franky money). Develop him well at box hill and throw him into 10 senior games this year, allowing us to manage Hale.

Mac and longer in 2015 to tear teams apart.
Saints would pick him up and promise time as a second ruck and a real opportunity to make himself the first.

It's a big if, but if he still only wants to come to hawthorn (hos preferred club by miles this time yesterday) and he nominates a heavily front loaded contract that would be enough to scare st kilda off.

With the buddy money, we can offer longer a reasonable contract, but with 80% of it to be paid in the first year. I don't think clubs would take him with a contract like that, doubly so if he reiterates his desire to go to hawks.

This is all if hawks are even remotely interested in him. I'd strongly be against trading out compo pick for longer. This is more a dream scenario of mine, but one that is at least conceivable.

No more trades Hawthorn!

List is great. Lost 5 players and gained 1. Ellis too might go, but then again he might just stay as depth. Gut feeling is that he will stay on with a 1 year contract.

Use 4 picks in the draft, if Ellis goes, sign a free agent like Mav Weller.

Bring on 2014!!!

Pick 19 for Dayle Garlett!!!

That would mean we are putting faith in Lowden, Grimley, Langford, Hallahan, Anderson and Simpkin as the depth we will develop going forward.

Not sure about Garlett.

You don't think that would be enough depth? For next season anyway. That is not including O'Brien, and Suckling and Schoenmakers who have to come back.

Definitely... Really think that we have some quality kids. We need to show some faith in them, especially when they have our guns around them to guide them on the field. It's our future...

X factor galore with Garlett, I think we can turn him good.

Are we actually any chance of landing Garlett?

I would assume so. No club with a top 10 pick is going to use it on him, that I would say is 100% sure. He would be too much of a risk. Then, if he falls towards our pick were are of course a chance as much as anybody else. Whether the club has interviewed him or anything I don't know.
