Still have Hale, and Longer is a very good replacement make no mistake about that. Very very good young Ruckman

Nick Holland on Grand Stand... Just said that he believes Hawthorn will match Swans deal.. then that trade will occur Pick 14 & Shane Mumford for Lance Franklin

We can have both...

Why though? I like the cut of Lowden's jib and really think we should've played him instead of Ceglar this year, Bailey can go around for another year and there are so many better/more important players we could get in place of the Mumford if we were to hypothetically acquire him.

I'm all for Longer... I believe Longer is a much better prospect than Lowden. Depends on Bailey cause he's looking at retiring, if he doesn't then don't worry about big Mumford. But it's hard because Free Agency Trade Period starts on Friday & that's when Swans put the offer on the table... then Hawthorn has all Friday, Saturday & Sunday to make a offer if we will go up against it... but that all depends on Max Bailey... Bailey needs to make a decision by then. If he's going to stay for another year then we don't need to match Sydney's offer, we can get Longer & even look at another player, upgrade another pick & eye someone of in the draft. If he's going Mumford quick fix.

*Ceglar is a rookie... so don't have to worry about him.

Yeah fair enough, if Bailey does retire then we will have to look at a short term fix, but we shouldn't be giving up much for Mumford (Pick 14 + Mummy is NOT worth Buddy) considering he wants out anyway.

Well it's better than Pick 18 & Pick 20

Is it really though? Two first round draft picks could easily buy us Longer and Adams if we added in a sweetener. I'd rather Longer + Adams than Mumford + Adams. Getting all 3 would only be ideal if Bailey retired, in which that case then yes, it is better than Pick 18 and Pick 20.

This draft is apparantley really strong up top but then thins out a bit, but hey, there have been heaps of great players outisde the top 10

We are not going to get Taylor Adams... Hawks haven't even spoken to him. Maverick Weller on the other case is a Delisted Free Agent & would be cheaper to get. I believe Hawks eyeing off someone in the draft..

I'm talking best case scenario re: Adams. Weller we could get for absolutely nothing so that isn't a problem.

With list management are we gonna keep Bose (not sure about his contract status, rules etc)? Cos I haven't really heard anything about how he's coming along. I know Frank is pretty much no chance of staying and potentially Ceglar may be delisted. Wanganeen is another who is touted as being delisted but I think he's found his niche late in the year so hopefully we give him another year?

Anyway my point is we've been really good with drafting as of late, despite all the media bullshit that we top off on other clubs blah blah blah, so keeping the picks may not be a bad idea either.

Adams has picked Collingwood & Richmond as his preferred, Boseley gets another year on Rookie list. Ceglar could be kept for another year... Wanganeen is the one that seems unlucky... Langford will be upgraded to the Senior list. Mitch Hallahan yet to re-sign... so is Jordan Kelly.

Alright...

I say we match Sydney's offer... then do a trade... Max Bailey might be retiring... so Mumford & Sydney's first round pick would do. We could offload our 1st round pick that we had in the first place with Savage to Brisbane for Billy Longer & their 3rd round pick. Forget Taylor Adams... he is not going to be a Hawk in 2014 simple... Re-sign Hallahan. Look at gaining Maverick Weller.

Hawthorn is linked with Daisy Thomas yet again! We should upgrade pick 14 from Sydney to a higher pick & chase a young prospect in the draft.
We're trying to go back to back, not slide down the ladder.

Why would Sydney trade for Buddy? He can just go into the preseason draft and and go strait to Sydney. No one is going to match the 9 year deal no matter how much they want Buddy. It is outrageous and the AFL integrity offices should throwout the contract because there is no way a 9 year deal to a player of Buddy's age is legitimate. It is a pure manipulation of the rules.

Take the first round pick, give buddy and the AFL the finger and bring in another player who wants to be part of a premiership at Hawthorn.

Way too logical mate but I suspect that is exactly how our club will handle it.
This will not derail their plans for next year.

This is pretty much it, take pick 19. As footy is over, we like to come up with all these fancifull ideas, like a trade with Sydney, even a 3 way deal with Brisbane, where we gain Docherty/Longer from brisbane and we gain parker from sydney, lose Buddy to them. Is parker better than adams? anyway I am sure we can dream of different things. I know the Burgoyne deal was complicated, before time of free agency.

Six decades of domination
More I think about this Parker plus Sydneys first round would be a dream. If we can snap up Longer, and potentially Adams while still keeping a load of cash for free agency next year we might come out the better.

Pipedream though.

To be honest there are only 2 options. 1. He goes to Sydney and we get the compensation (hopefully 2 first round selections). 2. We match it and Sydney have to trade for him. If they don't want him he stays with Hawthorn

There is no way at all that buddy will go to the Preseason draft now that he has been offered a contract via free agency.
