Suckling is beautiful off the boot, you'd be silly to chuck him out after an unlucky injury just to get a few youngsters. I'd think we need to get rid of Osborne and Ellis first, both of whom havent been getting game time anyway. Ellis could still get some attention if offered. Sav has been brilliant in a few games this year, when he has played.

To be honest, i'm kinda happy Buddy goes, it is unfortunate that its to Sydney, as thats pretty unfair for the whole AFL, but it clears up a spot in our team for someone like Anderson to be playing more often, which i wouldnt mind very much at all.

Then again, it is getting cluttered with Shoey and Suckers coming back in so, yeah, its a tough one.

If we did end up trading to Sydney, would be sweet to pick up Mumford, unfortunate to see Bailey be replaced but with his constant issues, its becoming a growing concern

1st post btw, forgive me if im not the brightest guy but i've been around a little while and becoming more active in the hawks community.

Decent first post. But don't think oz or ellis have any currency, and I'm sure Ellis is going to be delisted/not offered a contract

Watch the Jed Lamb and Dylan Shiel space ladies and gents.

We have the $$$ just not the picks to make whatever we want happen.
Have faith in Wrighty and the recruiting staff.....something is telling me we might have had Shiel in the works for quite some time.

Where's my mate Halfback Dasher....he'll be able to tell us :)

Dylan shiel is very well liked at gws, and under contract isn't he?

Can't see him getting to us at all.

So Mumford looks set to come to the hawks. What about going after Chappy? Lots of money to throw around now and we know how handy this bloke would be in September. Would love to see the bald man at the hawks!

Not sure about chappy - but it looks like we will have some cash to splash on a one year prospect. Maybe Chappy is a good option?

Geelong delisted him for a reason and are spot on offereing him a contract which would only see him play 10 or so games next season.

Too old, too broken

This was my thinking, proven finals performer who we can nurse through the season. We don't need him to play every week, just to add some class to our forward line when it counts. Yeah, he will only play a year but I'd rather see us go all out to win next year than give that spot to a kid who isn't quite up to it.

I'm in desperation mode....so that pretty much means i'm irrational.

Perhaps we could orchestrate a veal deal type scenario that includes Dylan Shiel.

That includes matching the term of contract from Sydney.
Force Franklin into the draft where GWS can use pick 9 or Pick 1 in the PSD. Hawthorn paying part of Franklins Salary to GWS for 4 years. 200-300 k = 800k
GWS Front ends Franklins contract for 4 years at 1.6 -1.8. = 6.4 million over 4 years
Total: 7.2 mill.....leaves GWS with 5 years to pay off 3.8
Hawthorn offloading Savage for Shiel

Hawthorn gets Shiel Loses: Ellis and Franklin and some salary cap.
Gws: gain Franklin and Ellis Lose: Pick 9 and Shiel

Was a bit down yesterday about the Buddy crap, but im over it now. I know the hawks are in goods hand and even without buddy we will be right in it next year.

With buddy leaving, we have 1.2 million to play with so we can go for our life.

How close are we to securing Longer ? The reason I ask is that a lot on here are talking as if the deal has already been done ,then if that's the case ,what do we give up for him?

what about sewell ? i know his currency right now is not much more then a 2nd rounder but for a young club like gws he would provide great experience in the midfield along with savage who has a mature a body and would be playing 22 games in most other teams plus a 2nd rounder would that be enough for shiel ???

How can everyone chuck Suckers name around because he's been out for the year. When playing he's one of our most important players by far, the rebound and setting up off half back is vital. His pre-season was great until the knee injury and he looked to be having a even bigger season than he did in 11-12.

Savage is fair enough because he is getting limited opportunities but yeah.

Shiel is a rolled gold champion in waiting IMO. If Hawthorn have any reasonable means of acquiring him then they should be on the phone immediately.

Him and Anderson as a starting point to a future centre square midfield, learning the ropes under Hodge, Lewis, Burger, Sewell and Mitch.

How do we get him? No idea whatsoever.
