Righto Hawks, get Longer. First round pick plus Lowden and Savage and we get their second rounder back as well. Get it done!
Really? Way over for a reserve ruckman. Hale cost us a 2nd round compensation pick.

That would be paying overs for an inexperienced ruckman. A first round pick and maybe Savage at most, but probably first round pick only. He wants to come to Hawthorn so Brisbane are at a disadvantage (bit like us with the Franklin situation).

I'd persist with Lowden as Hale is getting on and Grimley is probably more of a KPF/pinch hit ruckman.

Mumford set for GWS, apparently Chappy is possibly going to the Tigers.

I'd be looking for Longer still, could use a ruckman to replace Bailey.
Any early picks would be nice, im sure we could make good use of them.

Also unfortunate to see Goo go, but that leaves room in our team for the reintroduction of Shoey, Suckers, Duryea, Anderson.

Its a good feeling when you know you've got almost too many good players not getting a game, well, its a bittersweet feeling when they dont get a game but still.

Hopefully the ruck can be improved and possibly Anderson developed more, especially with Sewelly and Mitchell getting older. I'll be worried come the end of the next few years to see some of my favourite Hawks retiring. But there will be some good talent coming up that will possibly keep us in the premiership window for years to come.

I agree, would love to have him, but sounding like we'd have to give away too much (unecessarily) to get him.

Dont think it makes sense to depart with Savage/Lowden/Grimley when they are the exact type of players we need breaking into our 22 next year. If they weren't coming along too well then fair enough, but they have all shown signs or steady improvement this year.

Zaharakis and Shuey = good mates.
Zaharakis not happy with drug saga and wanted out (that was the rumour in August anyway).
Shuey wants to come back to Vic (that has been the rumour for a while now).
Could the Hawks engineer deals using 1st rounder and/or compo pick and/or fringe players to get the both of them?
Their salaries combined wouldn't add up to what we paid Buddy!
(This is not a rumour - this is just another crazy idea from a bored Hawk fan).

In all honesty I wouldn't want either of them. I like this draft coming up, it is filled with potentially good midfielders. Would rather us pick up one or two of them beacuse even at pick 20 there is some real talent.

Ok. All the talk had been that this draft was a bit shallow. If we can get quality kids at around 20 then that is a better result.

This is just my personally opinion. I think the draft does get a bit grey after around pick 25-30 but i genuinely think the top 20-25 are all quite good. Would be very happy if we picked up Tsitas and I think he could slide to our pick

Yep this draft is a good one until about pick 20-25. It's very even as well so pick 8 might gig you a better player than pick 18 in five years time. The more picks we can get under 20 the better we will be but no need to trade up to get into the top 10. Pick 1 is a different story.

Since Goo has retired ... Would Josh Hunt be a suitable replacement?? .... 1 Year contract, pay him SFA!!
Better options within the team I think. Duryea. Suckling and Shoenmakers all vying for a defensive spot.
Duryea is better defensively than Goo was, due to Goos mobility in the last couple of years, and he has a good left foot. We will miss Goo's mean streak. Duryea is plenty hard but he wont have forwards looking over their shoulder like Goo did.
Suckers has the kick on him but not great defensively, unless that has changed and who's to say it hasn't. He is very valuable to our setup and we had to change a few things this year to accommodate his loss.
Shoe is an extremely good kick and could play a role distributing off the back line. He could also free up Gibbo to play the distributor role off half back.
Hodge could play permanent back and give more mid time and opportunity to Anderson. Gives us a clever kick out of defence and hardness at the ball and man. Not mean like Goo but just as fearless and forces opposition clubs to account for him.

So I guess I am against us replacing him by bringing someone in like Hunt or even Shaw
