Getting Old and Grumpy
Hamling won a flag at the Dogs, but week-in, week-out he has been better for us than them. Until that bloody ankle.
They gave us colloseiums to play footy in.Anyway, apart from the aqueducts, what have the Romans ever done for us?
Technically the Romans named them “Arenas”They gave us colloseiums to play footy in.

It's the off-season. We've got months of idle speculation, off-topic stuff, and -- always a highlight-- about 3 days of epic melts immediately after the draftAre we discussing words?
What trades were you happy with?
1. Fremantle trade Adam Cerra to Carlton for #6 and F3
2. Gold Coast trade Will Brodie, #19, #61 & #69 to Fremantle for F2 and F4
3. Collingwood trade #22 to Fremantle for #27 and F3
4. Geelong trade Jordan Clark and F4 to Fremantle for #22 and F3 (Carl)
No way, there is a good chance we trade 19 for 20/21/23 and a future 2nd during the draft via live trade.4. Hoping Jordan clark plays well. I would of rather trade pick 19 and kept pick 22 and Carltons future 3rd instead....
Good assessment.Here is my view....
1. I knew we would get that type of trade for Adam Cerra. I did fear Carlton were going to trade pick 6 for Brisbanes picks 15 and 18 and give us 18 and their pick 61.
2. Freo wins that trade even if we finish bottom. Will Boradie is the steak knives in that deal. Pick 18, 61 and 69 is good. trading a future 2nd and 4th seems ok at the time. Just hope freo nails picks 19, 61 and 69.
3. a wasted trade. Why trade away a future 3rd rounder to improve 5 more spots?
4. Hoping Jordan clark plays well. I would of rather trade pick 19 and kept pick 22 and Carltons future 3rd instead....
regardless where freo finishes in 2022. Like in 2018, freo has no 2nd, 3rd or 4th rounder. They only got a 1st, 5th, 6th and 7th rounder
As it stands, the freo board saw where freo finished: We got 10 wins and traded a couple of late picks in 2022. We lose Cerra but got Will Broadie and Jordan Clark in the trade period.
Peter Bell has made his intentions clear: Make finals in 2022.
If we dont and freo fail miserably and finish bottom 6 again, Justin Longmuir is likely to be sacked and some older fringe players on decent coin will be gone too...
I await freos 2022 fixture.
Questions for others, who does Clark and\or Brodie push out of the best 22?
If they are not best 22 or even best 25, why did we bring them in.
B: Logue - Cox - Ryan
HB: Young - Pearce - Walker
C: Frederick - Brayshaw - Colyer
HF: Fyfe - Treacy - Sturt
FF: Walters - Tabs - Lobb
Ruc: Darcy - Mundy - Serong
Bench: Aish- Chapman - Pick 6 - Pick 8
Emergency: Hamling, Tucker, Wilson, Schultz,
Brodie and Clark will make or break the trade period. I personally don't think either are best 22, but time will tell.As much as I like frederick and to a lesser degree coyler, Jordan Clarke would take either players spot.
If sturt is injured again, clark can fit as a 3rd winger on a forward flank kicking 10-20 goals a season.
you dont even know who freo will get at pick 6 or 8 and you assumed they will be in the bench.
Will Broadie will take one of the 4 or 5 spot in the bench come round 1 of 2022
Good assessment.
I am not sure we will use pick 61 or 69, which makes them a bit of a waste.
Brodie and Clark will make or break the trade period. If I had a choice, I would have kept 22, and chase Clark next year.
I don't think we have list space to take 5 picks, unless we delist someone.I dont think pick 61 or 69 are wasted picks. More like a free shot or 2.

Can’t win with you, we outperformed your predictions in trade week, and now your pessimism emerges again. Out of interest, did you hate the Serong selection?

If they were both to be in our best 22 our recruiters would be the stuff of legends. And it is at least plausible. My expectation is that by mid year Clark is. Brodie is much more difficult to predict until he has shown something in the pre-season. I have higher expectations of O'Driscoll who I think will compete for the same spot (not necessarily same position). As it stands ( today ), they are not in our best 22, but the expectation is that they may be.
A darn long pre-season, and puttting their best foot forward, will show us who deserves the spots in the 22. Competition for spots is great.
I think a player like Colyer will hold his spot for the start of the season, and the youngster’s will have to work their butt off, before he is ousted. If you want a spot, earn it.
If Clark isn’t in our best 22 I question why we gave him a 4yr contract plus burned a 2nd & 3rd pick to get him. We better not be ponying up for depth.
Some people seem on here seem to be determined to not rate any player traded into the club.
Colyer, Conca, Kersten, Lobb, Acres suggest we are correct. Some people seem on here seem to be determined to not rate any player traded into the club.
Yet the same people will talk up our own players who’ve never played a game or AFL footy and they’ve probably never seen play.
BigFooty at its best.

What has Clark done to show he is AFL quality player? I know he wants to play back, and I am not sure he is a clear best 22 in that spot.
