What do you think we should do in this period?

Trade off some players for draft picks or pick up some more experianced players??

We will obviously get something for Ronnie seeing he is leaving.

I personally hope we can pick up one or two experianced players to help out.

We don't really need any draft picks, we have a balanced amount of young guns in our team. If we can pick up some players, say around 25, then that's a good pick up. We don't want any players who are past their prime, and we probably need some young, but mature enough players.

But all in all, we have a pretty settled line up!!

Go Cats!!:)

How about Peter Street to Hawthorn, Daniel Chick to Fremantle and Trent Croad to Geelong?? I would be very happy if we were able to get Croad as he is a young key position player... something we are short on at the moment.

Seriously though, I don't think we need to do much trading... work with the young players we have at the club now I reckon!!

Ronnie Burns may be traded depending on what we can get for him.

I like your thinking with that 3-way deal. Work in a few minor draft picks and you might be onto something.

What do you think about Ronnie? I don't think we'll get anything for him during trade week. If that is the case, would you want to delist him and get nothing, or keep him on knowing he's a loose cannon, and him knowing you didn't want him at the club?

Yeah, I reckon that we try to see what we can get for him. We might only get a lower ranked player, or a draft pick, but still it may be better than having Ronnie.

If the situations comes down to either delist him for nothing, or keep him knowing we don't want him, I reckon we should just let him go. There's no point keeping him on the list, because if we get nothing for him now, we won't get anything for him next draft!

But we must explore all options to get the best deal possible for him, and as I said if we can't then there is no need to keep him on the list, give him the flick to the draft!

if it was a lower ranked player offered, i sure hope they consider it long and hard. I'd hate for another Grgic to arrive here. The Jury (ie. me) is still out on whether Grgic has been a good pickup.

ANd yeah, i can see your logic on not having Ronnie at the club next year.

We were faced with a similar situation with Brad Sholl a few years ago where we had the opportunity to trade him and get something of value for him but chose to keep him. However, this situation with Ronnie Burns is a little different where it's uncertain if Ronnie's heart will be in it after all that's gone on. Unfortunately, I think this could be one of those times where we have to cut our losses and move forward.

Croad at Geelong...and to only lose Peter Street....RAFLMAO...This is a classic...

While your at it, Graham for Riewoldt? ;)

Actually if the Cats gave 1st draft pick to
Freo, gained Siegert and Croad, and Street+2nd pick to Hawthorn then they'd consider it possibly. But Bomber will not be willing to part with either pick I'd suggest, esp if he wants to further his excellent young list.

The Cats need some tall 'beef' (NOTE: not 'beanpole') to assist King; Paul Johnson would be ideal. Besides, Cameron Mooney and Kent Kingsley upforward, Spitter Scarlett down back, you seem quite well stocked in these positions.

Croad won't want anything to do with sleepy hollow, although I'm sure he might reconsider if he was allowed to make regular visitations to Jan Juc ;)

If you can get Street to Hawthorn, don't expect much back. If you're lucky, Harford could be swindled down the highway in a straight swap. A pretty fair deal, because while King is around, I don't see Street doing a heck of a lot under Bomber.

Why have you called him Spitter ?

Apparently he incited Aaron Hamill to spit at him last season.

or

He's a spitting image of his father.

Whichever one you choose ;)

Was Scarlett the one who said wearing the "Hoops" made him "bulletproof"?

Peter Street has committed himself to play for the Geelong Football Club next season according to an article in The Age today.

Just checked out RealFooty and saw this - but does this equal a contract or what? Does he have another year to go or was this his last on his current contract.

A one-year commitment. Not really good enough. If I was Bomber, I'd say give me a 100% commitment to the GFC for the forseeable future and I'll give you every opportunity. Otherwise, get stuffed and we'll get another kid who actually wants to play for us.

In defence of Street, he hasn't had a great deal of oppotunities. I Still think the Cats should do everything to try and get their hands on Paul Johnson - if they can.

That's good. In my mind, we need a back up ruckman. Sure Chambers can ruck, but I don't want to have to rely on him to ruck week in, week out if King is out. Steet has valuable AFL match experience, and has been on our list since 2000.

Go Cats!!:)
