trade seaby??

I wouldn't rush to trade him, but if the price were right, yep.

Asking what we'd do if Cox got a long term injury (the answer being bring Sullivan on and play Lynchy as first ruck) is all well and good, but the truth is that goes for several other positions- if Glass ever copped a LTI we'd be proper ____ed.

If Seaby could be traded for a 30-40 goal a year crumbing forward of similar age, or a speedster midfield capable of running and delivering at full pace, I'd accept the added risk and say yes to either of those.

Maybe we can throw Priddis in again as he's obviously inferior to other top line midfielders int he afl simultaneously we should through Rosa and Nicoski in there too so we can gut our midfield depth and half back line depth aswell. I mean clearly you don't need two ruckmen in an AFL squad. We only need Will Sullivan if Cox breaks down. Silly me thinking these players add to the squad there all clearly to blame for all our recent failure.

How do you think trading works, mate?

Do you reckon you just offer up ordinary players and get something good in return?

Seaby isn't untouchable.

Right so there's plenty of ruckman his quality to trade for? Or are you suggesting we trade him for what a midfielder. Do you think Will Sullivan is a ready replacement for Seaby? Or do you think we should just train JK and Lynch to do Coxy's job aswell?

Seaby's not a superstar.

I am suggesting that for a high enough draft pick we could afford to trade Seaby. I would want a good pick though - I'm not suggesting we offer him up for pick 30.

You're basically arguing that he's untouchable, which is ridiculous. There would be a price for which Seaby would be expendable.

If we did trade Seaby, we could then promote Sullivan to the main list. I don't know how good he is, but he's young enough to have an upside.

Remember when Gardiner was our first ruck? Who was our only back-up in those days? A skinny kid called Dean Cox who we promoted from the rookie list.

Guys that have rucked as various stages in the AFL.
Cox, Seaby, Staker, Lynch, Kennedy, Chad Jones.

So you have plenty of pinch hitters Trade Seaby, Elevate Sullivan and if Sullivan or Cox gets Injuried then one of these guys will have to step up as they do NOW!

Also If we traded Seaby then Whoosha would probably Rookie list or draft Another Ruckman Just incase anyway.

Maybe we get Mitch Clarke from Brissy a Ruck/Forward all these are solution to your very easy problem!

If the offer was right, I think its a possibility, and even more so in the next couple of years. He is barely in the best 22, ruckman have the best trade currency, and I am sure he would like some more game time in the seniors. If you wouldnt take pick 10-15 (which I probably would), would you take something in the top 10? He isnt a superstar, hes a good backup ruckman at this stage, one who isnt taking that next step in my mind.

Under 10 Hell yes:D

the only way we would trade Seaby is if he went to woosha and said I want to be traded.

Playing 2nd fiddle is definitely holding his development back with the lack of quality game time.If he wants to be a topliner he has to go to another club.

That's exactly right. The Eagles are very lucky to have a back-up ruckman of Seaby's quality running around in the WAFL, in case anything should happen to Cox. I can't imagine our luck will continue for much longer though, as I am sure Seaby will want to be shifted to a club where he can have a crack at #1 ruck position.

all premiership teams have two recognised ruckmen.

i cant even recall the last one to not have 2 in their best 22.

If we recieved Pick 4-8 I would consider trading Seaby. Im not against trading Seaby, the offer just has to be right. If someone like Wood can be traded for Pick 14, how about a premiership ruckman hitting his prime who has shown that when given the opportunity to be the no.1 ruck he plays very well. If we were to trade him we should wait untill next year and get a top 5 pick for him from the Gold Coast team.

This is spot on, if Wood went to the Pies for pick 14 Seaby is worth more, if not this year then next year when the Gold Coast would most definately be interested IMO, and they will have the first 5 picks. Seaby will be what 25 in 2009?

The Gold Coast move and their low draft picks changes the draft landscape in a big way.

Richmond need another ruck as do the Dees, I'd say Richmond would be the more likely club as their small midfield list is improving in leaps and bounds and will think their window will be in the next 4 years.

Dees may be looking longer term.

Sydney need someone for Spider but they won't get a low enough pick IMO.

No I didn't say he was untouchable, no one is untouchable. He is the best option at the moment as a back up ruckman if not the only option.
OK, so if he isn't untouchable, then you would be prepared to trade him for the right price.

That's all I've been saying. Others have been dropping their bundle over the mere suggestion that Seaby should be considered as trade bait.

Earlier, you said trading Seaby was a ridiculous suggestion. Now you're open to it.

too many ppl want gun players cheap (ie clark, wells) or a top 10 draft pick for seaby

seaby is not a star, he may well be the 2nd best backup ruckmen (behind mcintosh) but which moron belives hes worth as high as a top 10 pick?

anything between 10-16 is very appropriate.

since were bleeding our kids, we might as well give sullivan a go and draft another young prospect in this years strong draft.

sullivan will benefit greater by playing in the afl then wafl.

I would have thought McIntosh is the Kangas' first ruck.

I agree that top 10 would be a massive stretch.

Cam Wood went to Collingwood in exchange for pick 14 last year, so we'd be entitled to expect something along those lines in return for Seaby.

Pick 14 in 2007 = second round pick in 2008?

Is this a fair assessment due to the perceived depth in this years draft?
