Unfortunatly, and this is a big UNFORTUNATLY, H is the best option we have for CHF. Nath is not fit enough, nor agyle.

Im not so sure that his agility might prelude him from playing up the ground.Maybe maybe not. At the moment he hasn't got the type of body that would withstand the pounding one recieves week in , week out at CHF so he could play there.We will see when he is 21/22 where can play untill then I will refrane definite judgement

I agree with Jack actually and i hope to god i am wrong but how can we win a flag with Big H at CHF and Kingsley at FF, seriously these twoi just arent up to it, Kingsley kicks his 50+ most years but he doesnt perform in the big games and his attack on the ball is pathetic, just get the Swans game out it really annoys me, Big H gives his all no question but he doesnt have the poise or correct decion making skills under pressure, he always handballs to a teamnate under pressure and he cant kick either, i hope i am proven wrong but my feelings are our tall and key forwards will be our downful again come finals, why will it change from the last 2 yrs

I agree, Kingsly and Playfair are not the best players by a far way but the best we have. Kingsly in a year will either kick 40.60 or 60.40, depending which boots he has on. If he wasnt in the team, where would we get these 60 goals from? Gardiner, Mackie, McCarthy???

Playfair played his FIRST near full year in the HARDEST pot on the ground, what do you expect?? ANd i will start to sound like a broken record soon, but you cant say he wasnt doing his job befoe he got injured. Look at his stats before he got injured. He was taking 6-10 marks per game. Next year after more game time, his confidence will grow and he will start kicking the goals (or atleast having shots) where he used to lok to pass off.

We know out talls are not the best, so stop bagging them and do something about it.

If H is such a shocking footballer, how do we trade him and lure talent?

As we have said time and time again, persist with what we have. If we were to trade H, we would only get a player even to his talents, more likely less talented or draft picks so either way we would be back at square one and you would either be having a cry that we don't have a CHF or we traded H for a hack.

Use your brain - You can't trade average footballers for superstars but going on your wondeful theary i am hoping that we can trade Playfair for J. Brown, Will Slade for Akermanis, Rahilly for Ben Cousins, A Tim Tam for Kirk & a pack of Salt & Vinegar smiths chips for Barry Hall.

Somebody please put Jack on the GFC Board. We need his ability to think outside the square.

I did read the post. You might want to re-read it yourself Einstein.

You suggested we had the oppurtunity to draft Bradshaw, however you said we drafted Andrew Mackie instead. You might want to elaborate. Was it a strait swap? Pick 7 for Bradshaw, or pick 7, a player and another draft pick,etc. I ask because i don't know. So before you shoot your mouth off, think.

I'm not going to bother wasting my time anymore. You've got to be on of the dumbest people i have ever spoken too.

For the record. Teams that are in trade talks have something to offer other clubs or have players wishing to leave their clubs. We dont! 90% of the current list are either contracted, will be delsited or have no trading value.

So Jack what do you suppose we trade in order to get a decent CHF? Perhaps we can trade a few of our top tier midfielders in exchange for a Brown or Hall type? Then we'd have a great CHF, but we couldn't get the ball to him. Or perhaps we could trade away a few of our top defenders? Then we'd have a great CHF, but he'd need to kick 10 goals every week because the opposition would be kicking 20 against us each week.

My point is that we currently have an awesome backline, an outstanding midfield and an average forward line. Our forward line is better than West Coast's, and they got to within a goal of a flag, so don't tell me that you need an outstanding forward line in order to win one. If we can keep Ottens and King on the park, then we have the option of one of those guys in the forward pocket which makes for a handy marking forward, we then have H at CHF who will have improved after a season at CHF and can hopefully get back to his before broken jaw average of about 6 marks, about 10-12 possessions and a goal or 2 each week, which makes for a handy pair of marking forwards. We also have Kingsley who chips in with 2-3 each week and a host of talented smalls. With a bit of luck, N.Ablett may step up and gain a permanent spot, but this is probably 50-50 at this stage. If we can manage 6 goals from our 3 marking forwards, then we're doing alright,we should be able to get another 4 or 5 from our smalls and a couple from the midfield, that will give us around 12-15 goals each week, which with our defence should be enough to get us over the line each week.

So it's not all doom and gloom if H is our CHF, all he needs to do is work with the other forwards and hopefully chip in a goal or 2 each week and he's done his job. If we had a better option, the coaching staff would play him, but we don't and in order to get a better option we have to give up another part of our team.

Jack, I hear your frustration but I'm not sure that it's easier to just trade to get "good" players than to develop kids ourselves.

Lets say, if there is a player out there, looking to move, that could be classified as "good" or even better then "good" key forward, that wants to come to us, I'm sure we will at least put our foot in the water. But the fact is they rarely come on the market without baggage and this baggage can affect ones opinion of whether they are "good".

The Blues men this year Fev and Whit both have issues that might effect our group, directly or indirectly. The people in the know, not you and I, but the ones who are in the industry and the ones who rep our club are paid to make these choices and judgements. Now if we were desperate, if we feel we are short on time with the current group we may gamble and try to grab them anyway but I don’t feel we are at that stage yet.

The other thing is the trade cost , the opportunity cost down the track. The player that we could have had
The current system punishes those who aren't patient. Take Ottens for eg. he cost us two players who may have played 150 games of football for us, if you do that enough you sell your future. Our current B&F cam from P8, we might just be selling our best player from tomorrow.

I feel you think we accept mediocrity by persisting with attempting to develop our own but I don’t see any real alternative. If it was so easy to trade for gun players why do Collingwood struggle to get them. In a different era they would have Pavlich there right now on a Million a year but that method is gone the way of the dodo.

Maybe our picks on occasion's haven’t been as focused as they should have been, Mackie is one I have question before but one can see he is quality player just not a KPP.

I suppose at a point we must make a call on the guys picked, I feel most of the development guys on our list have 12 months left to prove themselfs,so this time next year there will 3-4 talls on our list that will be given a push, so you may get your way in 06

What a breathe of fresh air you are.... These 2 bring a big smile to my face everytime i think of them, however we don't want to put too much pressure on young Tommy Hawkins, but like Big Kev, i'm EXCITED!

I get where kack is coming from and like all others just want us to win a flag, but i am not as confident as others on this site that our forward line will work come finals time, big H has to improve and i hope he does cause its the most important spot on the ground whilst Kinsgley for all his good work can't produce in finals which is a worry, he can't be the go to man in big games.

Ottens i will give him next year before i question him to hard, he is oh so vitla to our chances.

i guess i just have seen our team lose finals the last 2 yrs cause of our forwards, we just need to find a player who can take a contested mark, also i feel a small pacy type forward even an aborignal player like burns was could help us,

I agree with this point and think we can replace Burns with Byrnes. I'd like to see young Shannon become a permanent forward pocket in the mould of a Phil Matera. He should be practising his snaps and set shots at goal all summer in preparation for this role. I think with his sheer pace and evasiveness he could be very dangerous down there.

When have I said I wanted a superstar CHF. I have just said I want a good one. By a good one I mean somebody like Hentschell, Miller, Hansen, Petrie etc.
