Just remember, we still have a policy that NOBODY will be drafted over the age of 24 years of age. That restricts who may come, however I agree with the policy.
I know its a bit early, but regardless of this years result its obvious that a backman would have to be on the agenda during trade week. We all know that getting Judd was a long thought out plan. So what backmans come out of contract this year that we could possibly poach to become a navy blue.

If we could poach a backman, would you offer our first draft pick pending on how good he his?

do any of you's remember robbie haddrill who got delisted form the dockers last season. very injury prone but i thought he was quite a decent backmen

He even sounds like a surgical procedure.

Just because he was slow and couldnt jump doesnt mean he still couldnt play at the highest level.[/quote]
--------
the problem was he couldnt train & couldnt get off the battered mars bars so his weight caused further knee soreness meaning he could train less & less which meant his weight kept fluctuating upwards.

if we had had a ruckman available cloke wouldve played CHF - not the most gifted but at least he'd have some fitness & give it a red hot go. for all whitnalls talent he will be remembered as someone who couldnt/wouldnt look after his diet & eventually it helped end his career.
so whits maybe gets a game round 1 this year, once hampson & (dare i say it) ackland (maybe last seasons non efforts were due to an unknown to us shoulder problem?) cloke should at least be played as that earl spalding type chf clearing the decks for fev to lead into.

curlier than a catoggio pube

Nah,unfortunately collingwood offered him 1 million a year, for 4 years and he said NO ! besides he has re signed with the lions for 4 years.

Brown will never leave Brisbane. Not sure of his contract status, but i'd have a look at Ashley Hansen from West Coast. Just turned 25, and from Melbourne. Might be worth sniffing around.

Lance could only manage to play every week, if he trained, the pain on his knee was too much, that's why his weight went up, not because he was eating junk food, if he trained, he could keep his weight in check, but then couldn't play, so it was pointless him training, and in the end, not being able to do both led to the decision to delist him/him retire.

Ashley Hansen would be great, a lead up CHF, takes marks, would clear the space for Fev, excellent choice HBF.

Speaking of Hansen, did Kennedy play for the Eagles on the weekend?

Watched most of the game on Saturday night, and I didn't see Josh. No doubt you'd be pleased with that?

Surprised you guys didn't pick up Jason Cloke last year.He was solid player ,with plenty of AFL experience,he played well for the bendigo bombers, the bulldogs didn't pick him up,carlton could have got him for nothing.Maybe not the best around but certainly would have helped your backline.

we already have enough backmen without a defensive bone in their body....houlihan, scotland , grigg. jason cloke played well as the loose man in defence, but couldnt play on an opponant, when clubs figured that out his career was over.

For once I'm agreeing with DC! And I thought Bannister was good on Thursday too! I'm worried.

Well, I don't think he'll fit in the side if Hansen plays, he'd be sweating on a Hansen injury, but I think the development team at WCE might handle him better than Carlton did, and if he gets a chance, he might be a decent AFL footballer, but with our development team, he was never going to achieve that here.

Looks like he didn't play. He's not listed on the Herald Sun stats page (no smart comments please).

No fear!!

You're on Bigfooty Carlton forum.

A smart comment is a rare thing indeed.;)

Kennedy had a calf strain which prevented him from playing.

Ah okay, well someone mentioned to me that he was named on the bench, and I was just wondering if he played, hope he gets out on the park for the Eagles soon enough, see if the Carlton development team is just way behind everyone else.

Fitting J.Brown and Judd in the salary cap without any detriment to the rest of the team would be nearly impossible. Those two would take up nearly 1/3 of the salary cap.

Not really, we're tanking, so we'll only have PP's, so they'll be on base wages, and the young kids will take pay cuts to help pay for Judd and Brown, we'll be able to do it, because we'll have so many first year players due to our tanking.

Didn't we try to have a crack at boyle from the hawks during trade week last year? Any chance of trying again this year? What are your thoughts on him?

Always a bit apprehensive when Boyle and Lance play together.
