Unfortunately Polec has never kicked 6 goals of footy in an AFL game, Kerridge for Polec would probably mean trading Polec and our second rd pick.
6 goals of footy?

I've had half a bottle of JWB tonight but even I can see there's something wrong with that post.

Agree though. Kerridge > Polec right now.

I've heard around that Bulldog players don't particular like Grant all that much - only hearsay but their may be personality traits there that wouldn't be a good fit. Put that on top a lack of performance and the dogs only offering a one year deal for a fairly young player is sending out the warning sound. In saying that, in a new town you can reinvent yourself.

If we get offered Matthew Wright for Polec I would take that in a second and run. Seemed to dip in and out of the Adelaide team this year but from the few games I saw he also played a more run with role then he did in 2012. I really rate Wright as a player though and he was a part of their midfield in 2012. If any Adelaide supporters could give us their perspective on him it would be appreciated.

Geez mate where were you the other day when I needed you. It was in your other trade hypotheticals thread that Wright was mentioned and I gave a pile of information only to be told to get back to my own board.

Edit - thread is Trade Hypotheticals 2013 - pages 46-47

Was it just information you were giving?

I recall you parrotting meaningless statistics.

It's not that you were wrong. It's just that your arguments were bad.

I first responded to ignorant comments about Wright being a fringe player - in the last 2 years he has played 39 of a possible 47 games - fringe player - really? Sorry but if your going to post rubbish about one of our players I'm going to call you out.

Then I was asked about him and responded that he dropped off a bit this year but was played differently to last year which we think affected his form. Even so, he still played 17 of 22. I then stated he has played some high quality games but struggled a bit for consistency which might be to do with the fact he's only played 60 odd games and may well be on the cusp of gaining consistency . I then highlight his good games to prove my theory. How else would I do that without the aid of stats?

It wasn't you that asked for the info and you clearly wish to remain ignorant on an opposition player - so fine , but don't bag me for responding to people who do want to know more.

I know you club is in a crappy trade period - we've had it too so I get it. But you should be grateful that Polec is not choosing a club and insisting you get a fair trade. That's why a player such as wright is being discussed - not because he's crap or we don't want him. The trouble is you think because he's not Sloane Dangerfield or Walker then he's no good. Do your own research - if he is traded, which I hope he isn't - he will play round 1 you can bookmark it.

I think it's a good idea to remember coming into the trade period proper that we like to treat all opposition posters with respect and assume that they come here in good will until they prove otherwise. Then we can release the hounds. The vast majority are coming here with good intentions, and those that are not are very easy to spot.

This will be a good approach to making the trade period bearable for all involved. Traditionally we are very welcoming of opposition posters on this board, so let's maintain that reputation.

I believe one of those comments was from me. I'll wear the ignorance tag, after all several judges I respect more than you have expressed the same opinion. But on this occasion I stand by it. Seems at least Mr Michelangelo Rucci agrees with me:
"Adelaide is hoping one of its "fringe" players - such as midfielder Matthew Wright - sees his prospects of more game time and a long-term contract is with Brisbane rather than at West Lakes".
Don't want to argue with you because that's not why I come here and to be honest I'd take Wright but I do object to the notion that he and Polec are of equivalent value, all things considered. Cheers.

We paid 12 for him 2 years ago. He's seemed to break into our 22 this year, and looks to have a lot of promise. It's been suggested that he wasn't quite worth 12, but realistically, if he's made our 22 in his second year, he can't have fallen too much. I would suggest that 15 would be fair, but with him wanting out, depending on options, it'd devalue him a bit more. I'd think it'd be a reasonable deal if the pick began with a '1'. If you start going into the 20s, that's an awful lot of devaluation for a player attracting attention all across Victoria.
Kerr said on TWR that basically they will accept a second rounder for Docherty.

If you believe what the papers are reporting, Carlton only started negotiation with Brisbane yesterday after Savage was traded to St Kilda.

I would think that when Carlton offers their first second rounder (Richmond's), then it will be done. I think Carlton might be offering players first and Brisbane will demand picks. Brisbane will get what they ask for, which sounds completely fair.

To be fair, Rucci is a terrible journo.

Yeah no. Would need to be something more than just a second rounder, perhaps an upgrade of picks or a player too. In fact just thinking it is a second rounder is silly. Docherty to Carlton isn't a given either. Just as likely to end up at the Bulldogs. And no Kerr did not basically say that.

I think a second rounder for Doc is probably what we're going to get. I agree - this will probably get the job done.

Screw Carlton. The last thing we want to give them is someone who'll be one of their better players in a few years like Henderson for peanuts. Their supporters are arrogant enough.

I'm not sure he said that personally. I think what he said was "we wouldn't look past a second round pick" which I took to mean we wouldn't accept a pick later that a second rounder, but I didn't take it to mean if we were offered a second rounder we'd jump at it.

Think you'll find Carlton and the Bulldogs upped the ante yesterday....Dogs are in a better position with Grant looking likely to be heading Brisbane with some sort of exchange of draft picks...

I'm not keen on trading in someone like Grant. Until this year in only a few games has he shown potential. Jono Marsh from Western Australia U18's (Harrison Marsh from the Swans is his brother) has the exact same attributes as Grant, with a few differences including a good footy brain and aggression.

Grant has spent long enough in the system to be a known quantity and unfortunately he just hasn't shown enough to suggest he will make it. Marsh is the unknown here. Although, unlike Grant, Marsh is both an athlete and a footballer. Not an athlete trying to be a footballer.

I think we need to try and secure another pick in the first round. Whether it be the Buddy compo for Longer if Longer still wants to go or packaging Docherty with something or someone for a first round pick.

Not saying it's a given. I'm purely going what I took from Kerr's words. I felt like Carlton were offering players whilst Brissie want pick/s and that was the sticking point.

You will find it, more often that not, players end up at the club they nominate.

I agree with this. Our first rounder will be out of the picture. Now between Carlton and Brissie, a deal needs to be reached with Second rounder involved.
