Why would we want to keep Longer if he is just going to shop himself around when he's new contract expires?
I sure as hell would. If we can go to him now and suggest we're happy to give him back on a 2 year contract on the proviso that if he isn't feeling better about his position after the first year, we will engineer a trade back to Melbourne. Worst case scenario he wants to go back after a year in which he has presumably improved and is contracted for another year and we package him with our first rounder to get into the top 5 for a crack at a McCartin type in what is supposedly a strong draft for KP players.

Doc for pick 28 is unders unless they throw in something else.

Not keen on Grant. A mate is a doggies fan and he doesn't rate him at all. You have to question why a side that needs a decent forward is happy to off load him. Alarm bells.

Why do we keep filling our forward line with players that may or may not work, we'd be better off throwing more money at someone like Crameri who we know can kick goals. Money got Clark over the line for Melbourne so why don't we pay overs for a decent forward and get it done. Tried with Tippett but Sydney trumped us, time for us to do the same with someone else.

Why are we all of a sudden a dumping ground for dud players?
he is uncontracted and so far not signing the 1 year contract put to him ;)

I wonder if the Lions will make a play for Vince? we have Polec to get him, and surely cap space to give him an attractive offer... He would be a great option to take Polks place in the team

Isn't that kinda what Adelaide said to Tippet?

Sick of flogs coming in talking about Yeo banging on about 3rd round draft picks and have no idea about how good Yeo is. He was taken at pick 30 and in two years has all but cemented himself in the best 22. Pick 24 should be the starting point, he is a quality player. Don't come in here tell us how we are lucky to get a 3rd round pick and at the same time saying you don't know anything about Yeo.

No Disrespect to you or your team. Your not the 1st team to get on the Bad end on the trade table and your team wont be the last either.

My team was in your position on the trade table many times and many years ago. As I said, If yeo was Victorian, there would of been a bidding war and the Lions were likely to get something decent.

Oh and one last thing... Freo were very generous with you guys the last time Freo traded with your mob.... Freo gave the Lions picks 3 and 19 for Des Headland in 2002.

I think the memory that is much stronger for many of us is the reluctance of Fremantle to offer up anything even resembling a fair deal for Mitch Clark a few years ago.

Most of us are well aware that we're likely to get screwed over on quite a few trades this year, but we reserve our right to kick and scream about it anyway (metaphorically, of course - I'm not endorsing kicking and/or screaming on this board).

Again, No disrespect for your mob, Im glad freo didnt give picks 16 and 20 to get Mitch Clark. Pick 16 should of been enough at the time.

I'm glad you're glad that you didn't have a fit Mitch Clark running around for you on Grand Final day this year and he may well have been if he hadn't gone to the Demons...would have made one helluva difference.

Pick 16 alone was daylight robbery for a player, that in my opinion, was robbed of All Australian selection as a ruckman in 2010 AND is a top notch KPF and/or KP defender and more...if Freo had moved to seal the deal earlier instead of being stubbornly dragged down to 16 for a player you were offering squillions to,Melbourne wouldn't have had a look in...great work.

And you are still looking for a lesser player than Mitch as we speak.

Des Headland was a No 1 draft pick and had just played in a premiership side when he wanted to be traded.

If WCs deal is 24 & 40 for 28 and Freo's is 33

What would you prefer?

24,40&41 or 28,33&41

I'd suggest with what Derek Hine and a number of other recruiters have said, that the former option is more attractive

They are both terrible for us and I wouldn't accept either, but anyway, I heard Derek Hine say that it was a really thin draft after the top 30 and his club were willing to give away picks beyond 40 very easily. In that case wouldn't the latter be better?

I find it interesting that the general consensus is that we will not use selections after the 30's. We still have some potential delistings up our sleeve, and we may still wish to add some additional Academy players once we know our hand through the National Draft - ie. Conway, Tickner & Smith. I have not read anywhere that this is not the case after only nominating Freeman.

If this is the case some of these 'throw away' selections in the 40s plus could be of use?

I can accept the fact that Doc is not a true pick 12 because he was in a weakened draft, but I can't accept that he is now valued the same as Hampson.
It's a contracted Hampson been sort after by a Club for a specific need v an uncontacted Docherty wanting to go to a specific club.

Whilst Hampson and Docherty are not the same value talent wise... They are even value in the circumstances they find themselves in

I think you're forgetting how good Headland was until he went to Freo. Polled 16 votes in the Brownlow as a 21yo playing in pretty good midfield that he was taking votes off, in a side that won the premiership.

WA radio saying its pretty much going to be done early next week

Pick 24 + 40 for Yeo + 28/29 *prob 29

Think its about right for us but your still not getting a great deal. Not that you were ever going too.

It's Eagles centric WA radio Cotter, I wouldn't pay any attention to those guys.

Somewhat true but it has gotten Freo-centric in the past 6 months. Even WA radio loves a good bandwagon.

I dont see Yeo joining Freo personally when with us we have offered him a 3 year deal + guaranteed games in the midfield

He has talent but he is zero chance of breaking into Freos midfield as it stands

WCE guaranteed games for him in the midfield?
