Agree TT. Geeze we're all a bit impatient these days eh?

The kids is still 21-22 and his talents didn't just disappear. The development path isn't always linear.

So true KC. It wasn't all that long ago some donkey from Geelong was offered up to anyone willing to take him on. Even we could've had him. That donkey was Stevie J. He sorta came on fairly well once he'd been rejected by all and sundry eh?

In Bon and co. we trust. If they deem a player not worth further time and effort, so be it. On the flipside however, we have to trust them when they do persist with a player, rather than come to some categoric conclusions based on supposition from the cheap seats. They know their players.

Urqs should be given one more year and if he is still on struggle street we should trade or delist.
Hale should be our only trade this season but if anyone would want an in and under player we should try and off load Ed lower.

He is just a fill in player till cunnington, ziebell, basta get their engines up to speed of the AFL.

Pick 31 from Melbourne for Hale should be our worst case scenario.

Like us, they are 2-3 years off being a serious challenger for the flag so their pick 31, which would surely be their best offer, would likely be trumped by a lower selection if certain other clubs were also in the hunt for Hale's services.

I'd have thought St Kilda & Geelong (Gardiner & Ottens will be 31 at round 1, 2011), Gold Coast & a few others would have a far more immediate need for Hale than Melbourne.

Geelong, St Kilda & GC competing to trade for Hale would be perfect. The Cats & Saints would have to give up pick 23-25 to trump Melbourne's 31 & if GC were serious, they'd then have to use pick 15 (their 9th pick!!!) to trump the Saints & Cats. If GC are interested but not the Saints or Cats, it's pick 26 to North.

Looking better than it was a few months back anyway.

Pick 31 from Melbourne is a keep Hale scenario.

Pick 31

2002 - Joel Perry
2003 - Josh Krueger
2004 - Jarred Moore
2005 - Trent West
2006 - Clayton Collard
2007 - John McCarthy
2008 - Jordam Roughead
2009 - Jason Tutt

Melbourne can stick pick 31 where the sun don't shine. It won't haoppen.

Oh my god, that's shocking. We should do everything we can if we get Pick 31, to downgrade that to pick 32. Look at this list

2004- Prismall
2005- Vince
2006- Tippett
2007- Greenwood
2008- L.JOnes
2009- WInmarr

Given that we have pick 32, maybe we should trade it with Richmond, cause have you seen some of the spuds that were taken with pick 6?

FFS, if we get 31, i'd back BL to unearth another star. The way the draft is this year, the talent is very even across the 6-30 odd range, and the idea should be to get as many picks in that range, and focus on developing that talent.

Perhaps RM, but take a look at who we picked up just after pick #31 in our last 4 drafts:

2009: #37 - Jamie MacMillan
2008: #43 - Liam Anthony
2007: #32 - Levi Greenwood
2006: #37 - Todd Goldstein

On that evidence, if we are offered #31 i say take it! :D

Be happy for us to offload hale for Nathan jones, don't know how much demons supportter rate him but.
Trading with the gold coast should be about pick 13 and 2nd round for pick 17 hale and 2nd round.

If we can get rid of Hale for a top 30 pick I'd be happy. He is no good and we don't need him.

Waste of space on our list.
Get over it, he's done...

This whole article seems pretty dodgy but I thought I'd post it anyway. Would prefer to keep Urquhart.

Hale, who has also attracted some interest from Hawthorn, has a two-year $800,000 deal remaining on his current contract at Arden Street, and is agreeable to a move because of a lack of opportunities created by the presence of Hamish McIntosh, Todd Goldstein and the return from injury of Drew Petrie.

The Kangaroos, who are also preparing to trade out Gavin Urquhart, are more interested in obtaining additional draft selections, as opposed to recruiting experienced players from rival clubs.

There hasn't been a player in recent memory who we've traded and sorely missed. If the coaching staff and Lewis think trading Urquhart is the way to go then so be it. I'm disappointed though, Gav looked great in patches in the midfield.
