Interesting. Wouldn't have thought we'd need him given we've already got Warren, Edwards, NOK and Black coming through. Talented player though.

McKinley is not what we need. May help NB win a 4th flag though but wouldn't add any more than Edwards/Warren who both may struggle to get games with Petrie coming back.

Can play McKinley but I am not sure why we need another small forward.

I would still prefer Tambling.McKinley is a dud. He can mark but he cannot kick straight to save his life. Edwards and milky are in front of this spud.

I'm not sure about McKinley either. Seems a very one-dimensional mark and grab player, without the size to be a true key forward. A lot like Edwards and I'm not sure we need two of those...however, on the record of the past couple of years I'll back the recruiters to make the right decision.
It's not like when we picked up the Anvil....

I'm not against the McKinley idea.

He plays alot taller than what he is, demands a decent opponent and is a natural goal kicker.

You have some sort of talent when you kick 40 goals as a 19 year old.

Still young, and if he costs peanuts, as the article suggests we will be offering, why not?

It could be his making as a player, playing as a third tall behind Petrie and Hansen, rather than the main go-to man at FF.

McKinley is the sort of forward who thrives on silver platter service. I still think our midfield is a few years away from providing that. Recruiting him would spell the end for Edwards too.

How is our forward set up going to work though? With Petrie and Hansen certs for roles how many medium players can we have in the team? Edwards, Warren and O'Keefe have all played senior football not to mention Black will start (hopefully) pushing for a spot in the next couple of years.

Not sure what to think about McKinley. The advantage of having him is that we have another option up forward in the event that Petrie is forced into the ruck if McIntosh or Goldstein get injured. I see it as immediate compensation for Hale if he goes.

While we have plenty of players of the same size as McKinley, I don't think any are capable of scoring 40+ goals in a year like McKinley.

If we can get him for a low pick, why not? Only adds to our depth.

Mckinley will thrive at North. He will most likely push one of Warren/Edwards out of the side, but if he doesn't cost much, he'll be well worth it.

Black isn't a medium forward, at 6"4.

Its sound reasoning.

If not for the fact that our champion goal kicker finished with a total of 29 majors this season.

The only safe person in the forward line is Hansen imo (Add Petrie once over injuries)

Warrens work eithic is unquestionable, however, he does have his moments.

Competition is only a good thing, im confident under Scott, the best player will reign supreme.

All this depends on the cost of McKinley.

I think he would be a better option than Azza.

He kicks bigger bags, is a better kick(can kick goals from outside 50) and gets to more contests.

He is more selfish as well, which aint such a bad thing.

As Pykie said kicking 40 goals at 19 is pretty good form and that was in a very woeful team.

Delist Azza or Turtle and get him

Is McKinley contracted? If he's not and he likes the idea of joining North, get him to publicly name us as his club of choice and make him nominate for the PSD. About time we snared a big(ish) name in that draft. Stuff trading for him. If another club trumps us for him, then so be it.

I would like McKinley but as others have said it depends solely on what we use to secure him. If we trade a 2nd round pick, I will go apeshit. Shouldn't be anything more valuable than a 4th round pick IMO.

If we get him for bugger all then its probably not to bad.

However I think we have more than enough options already in the medium forward range.

Wright
Warren
Edwards
O'Keefe
Kennedy

Not too sure why we would bother TBH.

Firstly, Azza kicked 100 goals at West Coast, to McKinley's 40. Fair difference.

Secondly, wouldn't McKinley, if we got him for a low pick, replace Jones on the list, rather than Azza? Everything Scott has said would suggest Azza is safe, as he should be.

Regarding Turtle, however, I'm curious to see if he retains his spot on the list, given his injury, age and overall drop in form last year.

I thought Kennedy was a half back flanker?

And are we listing Black as a true key forward?
I think he is being played there now, his Bio lists him as a forward though so like many players Im sure he could slot in at either end of the ground.

After watching Blacks highlights you would hope they dont bulk him up too much. His agility and ground level skills are excellent. He is definitely shaping up as one of those guys whos really hard to match up on.

I don't think we need him.

In terms of mediums we have Azza, Warren and Wright. Smalls we have Thomas, Campbell, Adams and Harvey. Generally if you don't have enough good smalls you can go an extra medium but that is not really an issue for us.

I think Warren and Wright are our two outstanding mediums and Azza has been very competitive this year. Warren has been a bit unco this year but I think when our midfield improves and he doesn't have to come out 80m+ to find the ball then he will be a much improved player.

As it is, Azza is a good option and he will likely be pushed out of the side when we get more of our best 22 back from injury.

I'd be happy to have a look at him if space on our list is plentiful and we are looking at a guy in a position we lack options, but I don't think he really fits the bill.

I agree with comments earlier on, while Black is much taller than a medium, he can play the medium role, or a tall role. They say he is that athletic he can play on the wing in a midfield role.

Petrie, Hansen and Black (hopefully), O'Keefe - Key forward options. I hate when people list O'Keefe as a medium forward. Whilst he could play as a tall flanker, at 193cm he is the same height as Riewoldt (the Nick variety) and people assume because he is skinny that he is a medium sized forward. NOK is capable of taking the game by the scruff of the neck, and plays as an athletic primary (or secondary) target in the forward fifty. What do you think of this Pykie?

Warren, Edwards, McKinley, Wright (p/t) - Medium forward options.

Thomas, Campbell, Harvey (p/t) - Small forward options.

Recruiting McKinley would give us a good spread IMO. I wouldn't be expecting Black to play round one next year due to the OP, but I have faith he'll come on midway through next year. For round one next year:

HF: McKinley - Hansen - Campbell
F: Edwards - Petrie - Thomas

Int: Warren - Wright (mid/fwd)

I'd like to squeeze O'Keefe in as he's one of my favourites and I think we need to get games into him, but IMO give that forward a few years and throw Black in there down the track and there's some potency there.
