Timmy must be a pretty shit poker player. You don't rate a guy like he described and chase them and do a presentation for them and say pick 35 is all you will offer.

Yeah, they've just shot themselves in the foot with that comment, imo. No way on earth does the deal get done for that pick now.

They'll need to put up a good young player, like Tapscott or Gysberts, as well as their second round pick if they want a bloke that they think is a "great ruckman".

If Brad doesn't get what he thinks is fair compensation.

Mark my words, Hale will stay at North.

I'd rather we keep him, even if he's just an insurance policy if Melbourne want to offer only a 2nd rounder. You don't roll over and give one of your main rivals a bargain.

With the new interchange rules, and McIntosh's stamina not being the greatest, Hale could be more useful than we think. After all, we know he can play two full games on the same day ;)

We would be stupid to let Hales go for 32 or 35.

And Hawthorn would need to come up with something fairly enticing.

He is after all still contracted and is the no 1 back up should eith Goldy or H cop a season ender.

I can't see him going anywhere at this rate.

We got a taste of Hale, coming in as a Substitute against the Bombers this year. Heck, he could have been the perfect sub if he didn't play 4 quarters before hand.

Lets keep him and nominate him as our 2nd half, forward/ruck substitute specialist. :p

If we get the Campbell Brown pick and hold onto it for a few years what can it become?

End of the first round, so like depending on if there are any priority picks, pick 17 or 18 I think. Either way, not worth it, as we are currently building our future side and by the time we use that pick we would already want our youth to be selected and growing and developing together.

For me the ideal trade is for Hale + 35 + 52 for pick 19 and 29 (likely compensation pick for Brown). Would give us 17, 19, 29.

Hawks get hale and still retain a second and third round pick. Effectively Hale would raise our pick 35 by 16 places and raise 52 by 23 places.

It would give us three stabs in the top 30. To me upgrading 17-12 doesn't have massive value, the guy ending up at 17 will probably be same quality as the guy at 12.

SEN Trade Talk tweeting that Melbourne are confident of getting Hale. Does a tweet from some random idiot seem more reliable than some random idiot talking on the radio, just because it's written down?

Not when the "random idiot" on the radio is their football manager.

It would be worth pick 19 at best, depending if any teams qualify for a priority pick, or use their compensation pick. Remember there will be 18 teams in the competition by that time.

I'd be quite happy to keep Hale. He could easily play his part this season. Thank God we're dealing with a contracted player here.
Agree, theres always the chance of an injury, and GWS and no doubt one or two other clubs will again be looking for Rucks next year.

If the offer is not good enough stuff em and keep him for another year.

There are currently 6 compensation picks. Geelong have 2, Brisbane have 1, Adelaide's has gone to Richmond who will likely use it, Hawks have 1 and Bulldogs have 1 they will likely trade to Brisbane for Sherman.

If everyone decides to use their picks then 32 turns into 38 and our 35 turns into 41.

32 shouldn't be even in contention as the major component of the compensation, unless you can offer something into or before the compensation picks what you get could get significantly washed down.

****em- he stays and when we play the Dees we'll start Mac,Hale,Goldy & Petrie in the centre square!!

Had a look at the 'AAruckJaymar had plenty of hitouts and about 200 handballs, but took bugger all marks(3 a game) and didn't have many kicks either.

Hale avg'd over 100 marks a season between 05-08, 19 goals a season and over 200 hitouts.I reckon 200cm+ blokes need to be marking targets clearly Jamar isn't.

Thinking about it there is a bit of water to go under the bridge yet. The club have told Haley that he can talk to clubs. Hawthorn and Melbourne are interested and talking to him and his wife. Haley nods and smiles at the right places during their 'presentations', and both clubs are confidant of getting him.

Melbourne offer pick 32, to which we laugh and say only if swap first rounders as well. Dees say no. Hawthorn have two picks before Melbourne's pick 32, so we wait to see what they do with Josh Hill. Hill goes for a mid pick and the Hawks then offer us 26. We go back to the dees. We say, swap first rounders or Hale goes to Hawthorn or we keep him. Dees say no, Hale goes to Hawks or we keep him. Dees say ok, we go back to Hawks and say give us 19 or Hale goes to Melbourne. We then take the best offer.

So we need to get an offer from the Hawks before we can make a decision.

Heard nothing about McKinley. I think if we're interested, it depends on how the Hale trade goes, and whether Bryce is satisfied with the draft picks and order he has, then decide on whether to pursue Ben.

It was mentioned, but Harrington's already revealed his cards - who offers Pick 32 and then states that the player they're looking to obtain in said trade would be extremely valuable to Melbourne?

Dolt.
