What about Matt White from Richmond? Talk over on their board that he might be delisted seems to be out of favour a bit at Richmond. If he was really cheap would he be worth it? Is pretty quick turns 24 early next year though. Idk just putting him out there thoughts?
Richmond reject.

Did you honestly think anyone would be in favour?

I actually don't think we should trade for anyone, just need to keep getting games into our youngsters and hit the draft again this year. We pretty much have a few options in every position on the ground. We've got to fit Petrie, Hansen, Ziebell, Anthony, Adams, Thomas and even guys like Tarrant, and maybe Black and Urquhart (who by all reports had a good game in the VFL today, and can be a pacy skilled ball carrier) into the side that played today.

Yeah sorry I was just about to delete the post not sure why I mentioned it to be honest. I think I would be quite content to do nothing at all in trade week except offload players who deserve an oppotunity elsewhere and are surplus to our needs i.e. Hale.

David Hale aside, i'm hoping for minimal list changes for us this year. Does anyone know how many compulsory delistings you need to make pre-draft?

You have to take three selections at least in the National Draft. So after trades , rookie elevations and delistings we must be left with 3 picks minimum.

So even if Hale is traded , we still need to come up with three, of which Corey Jones is one. Maybe Josh Smith aside, not a lot jump out at me as obvious delistings this year.

Yeah it's a very tricky year for list management. I think we have to make decisions on Delaney and White too, whether to elevate or delist, I 'm pretty sure Speight can stay as a rookie for another year. I've heard Josh Smith wouldn't mind looking elsewhere for better opportunities so he'll either be traded for not much or delisted I'd say. We'll probably try to trade Hale but I'm not sure there'll be much interest and he's contracted for next year. Looking bad for Benjamin, although I think the club would like to persist with him he may be squeezed out with an intention to rookie him instead. Harding's another possibility to go but I think we'd like to keep him. Very tough decisions coming up.

Delaney isn't going anywhere.

He is a 21 year old 6"4/6"5 full back built like a brick shithouse with sound skills and a competitive streak.

He's the type you need to retain for depth, and a bad run of injury is the only thing that has probably prevented a debut at this stage.

I'd say Hale will be offloaded.

Jones retired.

Benjamin and Meredith delisted.

Ed, Ross, Obst, Smith, Urquhart and Harding would be feeling the heat in one way or another.

2011 is a huge year for White, Speight & Delaney.

Hale is the obvious offload fer sure, but there may be the necessity to pick up another Ruckman.

If either of Goldy or H goes down, the backups at the moment are Smith (who is questionable at the level) or Drew. If Drew goes in, it ****s up the structure of the forward line.

If Hale goes, Smith will probably stay as a back up, as I'm not sure there is enough talent coming through at our picks in the TAC.

Maybe Majak will be the go.

I don't think theres much pressure on Speighty. He's made it clear he can play, he just needs games in him.

Whenever he had the ball in his hands he did something with it.

Let's give it to him 20 times a game and see what he can do.

Our structure was OK this year without Drew.

If H goes down, Goldy plays the sole ruck, and visa versa.

If they both go down, Drew was named in the AA squad playing the position, infact, it's where he plays his best football.

Majak is the 4th backup, in case of a complete and utter ****ing disaster, which in some ways it wouldn't be, as it would be a huge coup for the club pumping some games into him.

Goldstein, McIntosh, with Petrie and Daw as cover is good enough imo.

I'd probably look to rookie a development ruckman in 2011's draft.

There's no use wasting a top pick on one, when McIntosh has a good 5 or 6 seasons in him and Goldstein looks like becoming an absolute top liner; with already cover on the list, the kid would only find himself behind a massive line.

Definitely would'nt waste a top pick on a ruckman either Pykie.

Rookie only on that front, with the top picks being reserved for pacy, outside, quality users of the pill.

Probably may look at a rookie ruckman if Smith is given the arse.

Majak could be a genuine gun if he develops as expected and then we won't have a care in the world.

The fourth pick will be the interesting one for us I reckon.

That's not strictly true. A club can elevate rookies in place of ND selections.

No chance of Delaney going anywhere btw. Take that to the bank.

Nathan Foley. Devastatingly quick. Not so sure about his injury situation, but at the right price? I wouldn't say no too quickly if he was available.

From Hi-5?

Nathan has had a long list of leg injuries in his career which would be a huge concern. No doubting his ability though.

Runner-up in best and fairest in 2007 and nearly All Australian in the same year. Out of all the names being bandied around, I'm still more inclined to look at Sherman for some reason.

I'd have a look at McKinley for the right price.

The right price atm, would be a 3rd or 4th rounder, having played in the WAFL for the second half of the season.

Would put pressure on Warren and Edwards, could quite possibly be a better option than both of them.

Mackie for the right price. Good footskills, good decision maker, decent speed.

Only real knock on him is that he's a bit susceptible to skirting the packs, but with hard nuts like Cunnington, Greenhead, Swallow, Ziebell and co, we could probably afford a guy that could skirt the packs a bit, but deliver the ball to the forward with precision.

I've said McKinley would be a good option at the right price for quite a while, but only a few seem to agree.

I was a year under him at the Northern Knights, and he is an extremely good bloke who is dedicated to his footy but also his study. Studying Law has IMO distracted him a bit from his football, and he yearns to be in Victoria. I think that whichever Victorian club picks him up (Essendon & Melbourne most likely) he'll thrive.

People forget that he was Vic Metro MVP, he booted 42 goals in 18 games in 2008 at West Coast and 30 the year later whilst being in and out of the squad.

Pykie _ One of my only concerns with Ben is his agility, at ground level, but I don't see any other glaring weaknesses. Good mark, safe hands, clean set shot. I wouldn't want to see him put on any more size but rather work on his speed and agility.

What do you conclude?

Totally agree with McKinley, I've been saying it for a year or so as well. He's young, has strong hands and has the ability to kick bags. With Warren, Edwards and McKinley we'd have a very good range of medium sized forwards to pick from.

The first time I saw him play I thought he'd be a very, very good player. Unfortunately I haven't been proven correct to date.
