As much as I love Hendo, the club has to consider all offers. I think we're at the beginning of a brave new world of trading and player movement is going to be on the up. We're moving to a more commercial model and clubs need to be more sophisticated and business like in the way they approach trade week.

The clubs that are successful are going to be the ones that are active in the market and are willing to take a risk to fill holes - basically an extension of what the Hawks have been doing lately. Clubs are going to start downgrading picks etc...I'd like to see us ahead of the curve for a change.
I'm worried that might be too similar to the speech Crazy Vossy gave the Brisbane board to convince them to do the Fevola trade

My apologies if you have indeed seen him play, I just assumed you hadn't given the absurdity of that suggestion. I was giving you the easy out but you didn't take it so one could only assume you have no idea what you are on about.
Thankfully I wear big-boy pants and can handle the condescending & belittling tone of your posts, rather poor form from a moderator though.

Try it on some of the other younger people on the site, you might have more success.

I find it amusing to read just lowly Jeffy Garlett is rated on this board these days. After reading that Rory Sloane was happy to come to Carlton last year - I wonder how the Club wasn't able to accommodate Eddie's (apparently) modest ask in terms of money upgrade? The Thomas IN Eddie OUT outcome of the trade scenario would have looked a lot better if it was Eddie stays and Thomas was added to mix. No doubt Jeffy wouldn't have had an easier year if Eddie was still around - or is this wrong? Eddie /Jeff/Robinson were starting 22 for us - now all three are apparently gonski - very strange and very poor outcome for Carlton.

Malthouse put up with rat pack at Collingwood -encouraged them actually - but "hit man Jeffy" is too hard to manage? gimme a break- you can do better Mick...

Happy to see plodding one way runners like McLean and Warnock traded for chewing gum - very unhappy to see genuine class in Jeffy and genuine hardness in Robinson let go for same - because of one night out on the pizz.

Interesting to watch Watson kicking goals for Northern Blues (looks like a dead eye dick!!! ) - maybe Mick has been quietly creating a wild card winner on the quiet this year, like he did with Rowe last year.
Eddie leaving was due to his sick dad not money.

You say - "Once again, you know nothing" to said moderator...and then suggest that they are condescending and belittling?

Stringer for Casboult is one of the more rediculous trade suggestions ive read on this site.

Learn how to spell son, it will help you in the future.

Let's say the Dogs are keen on Casboult, we say we are keen on Stringer (or any one of their mids).

More than likely, because no club just agrees with the first offer, both clubs are then going to say 'no deal' on the surface so the next step is for both of them to say "what else can we do to make this happen ?".

This is where you see other players, other picks & sometimes, other clubs come into play. Every trade deal that ever goes down never ever starts off exactly how it finishes. However, when both clubs have clear targets and there is no leeway on them alone, then it becomes a passage of negotiation till the compromise is reached.

You will recall that MS3 put up a convoluted deal between Carlton, St. Kilda & GWS that had a few different permutations. We are heavily chasing Boyd (according to those who have good sources) and we are exploring options, it happens all the time.

It's like this talk about Henderson, no-one wants to see him go but if the other clubs are approaching us with interest then we would be putting the spotlight on what our needs are and putting up a demand in return. I have no doubt that clubs would be chasing Henderson, its all about what we would be prepared to let him go for and there is every chance that there would be a huge gulf between what they are offering & what we would accept.

Every player is tradeable, its all depends on the quality of the deal.

As someone who actually went to Etihad yesterday (yes, I got free entry), can I add my 2cents? Stringer is one of the young pups at the Bulldogs, along with a few other U23 jewels such as Libba Jnr, Hrovat, Dahlhaus, Macrae and Bonts (plus Wallis Jnr but he didn't play). There is NO CHANCE the Doggies would ever trade him.

They do have structural issues though. Roughead didn't have any support with Jones, Talia and Roberts not selected. So Levi could easily hold down FF.

There's a cloud over the Bulldogs ruck-forward position. Campbell (Minson's understudy) got injured and Cordy stepped up (first game of the year!) but was eclipsed by Pyke (despite the Canadian nowhere near premiership form). Levi wouldn't be better than Ayce in the ruck but it's a question of whether they persist with Cordy into a seventh year.

Dogs 2nd pick (25) = Levi + Blues 3rd pick (42) is the most likely trade if he were to accept $ and contract length.

Stringer most certainly off the table, sorry TheSheik

Condescending and belittling.

Would this thread be better if we all used your trade concept approach?

Pick 1 for Jarryd Cachia please.....its just a starting point. St Kilda need midfielders dont they?

Picking out spelling errors is what you do when you have nothing else to argue.
All I know, is that if you're going to pick on someones spelling, the least you could do is make sure you use of English is 100% correct.

"Every player is tradeable, its all depends on the quality of the deal." - Tradeable not a real word, grammar incorrect after comma. Incorrect use of contractions ealier in the post (Its).
