Don't underestimate the power of Malthouse in luring Jaksch .

He is a legendary coach and players want to play for him ... Everitt is proof of that .
I think that might be overselling it, RB.

My take is that everitt is a solid bit player that had struggled to nail down a first 22 his whole career.

I reckon everitt was won over by someone (anyone) flying up to Sydney and saying uncle Sam style 'WE WANT YOU!'

IMHO, it was the love shown by carlton/MM that won him over more than MM's reputation.

Same doesn't apply to jacksh and co, as they will be shown love by many...

They are chasing a small forward with their attempts on Eddie last year and nabbing Nahas as a fallback (1yr only). 3rd rounder I'd imagine considering they gave up a 2nd rounder for Dal.
Aaron Mullet, or anyone else on the outer or not getting a gig at North? Tarrant (too injured for mine)?
Be interesting if the Saints wanted him as well as Norf, as is conceivable. Could push his value up a little.

Good points as the player and his manager will always in the end do what suits them best .

That said , I'd rather have Malthouse in there pitching for us than McCartney or Richardson ... every little bit helps .

Garlett needs to take a leaf out of neades book. Played most games last year and on the outter for most of this year. Kept persisting and is now playing in a prelim this weekend.. I also believe he was a key part to port turning around there season. No doubt garletts talent is there he just needs to stop playing lazy football

There's a lot more to it than that buddy but I do wish he could turn it around. Sadly it's a wish that will be unfulfilled as he appears gone.

So if we trade pick 7 for mitchell we should also get Sydney's end of first rounder (pick 17/18) cos 7 is overs in which case we could pick up jarrod garlett with that pick. Then we trade our current pick 25 for jaksch. Sound ok ?

Sydney has its first rounder committed to Heeney its off the table.

Whilst I would draft Titch at 6/7 over anyone available this year, I think we will to do a better deal with all things considered. If we can come away with Titch, Jaksch and stay in the first and second rounds then we'll have done well.

The #26/Warnock for Titch deal may play out okay if we could then move on #7 + player for Jaksch, #20 and #36.

Jaksch, Titch, #20, #36 and #41 might be a go, but still would rather keep #7 somehow.

I like this very much.

I think we could pick up some very good players with those picks.
#20 = Keitel
#36 = Garlett
#41 = Daniels

I would just hate the idea of Swans getting pick #7 AND Heeney, though would be made better having an immediate best 22 midfielder who is 21 coming in.

All of a sudden, we'd have Doc, Menz, Titch and Cripps as good talent under 22.

even if we have all those players the general consensus would be carlton have no youth and an ageing list

We might have to pull out the magic beans for that to happen

its extra frustrating because Garlett's best is soooo much better than Neades...to be honest Neade hasn't really impressed me, i think he is just benefiting greatly from being in a good team so he gets lots of opportunities and with Ports style, he gets good situations where he is 1 on 1, lots of space to move etc...he is fulfilling his role currently tho but he is no star. Would really struggle in an average team.

You don't buy MS3's post about Higgins agreeing to a deal with us?
Nope. But that's not to say I don't want him. Whilst we're not losing stars (except Jeffy) we are losing players who clearly are more than capable at AFL level. We need to replace them with players who are ready to play AFL. They can't all be kids. Hence why I would be in favour of Higgins.
