Robbo for Jones

I think we are paying overs there.

Although Robbo has done some silly things , he always gives 100% on field.

He is a 100 game player who is proven can play. Jones is still very unproven and can't cement himself in the doggies forward line who don't exactly have KPF coming out of their ears.

Look i'm willing to give Jones a go. A chance of scenery might just be what he needs, but I think we are losing out a bit on this trade.

I'm hesitant to believe that. They were saying a few days back no one wanted Robbo and we know that's not the case.

I would think just a draft pick. Can't see us wanting Robbo or Lucas, we might have an interest in Garlett though.

As much as we all want a second rounder, your third rounder would probably be enough to get it done.

He's still 23 and has been in the system for quite a long time (drafted as a 17-year-old if I remember correctly). Got a good pair of hands. If we can nab him on the cheap, might not be so bad. Had a reasonable finals series at VFL level as well. Desperately needs to add consistency to his game.

Good call. The doggies have a great pack of young inside mids, Lucas could complement that?

Probably a good like for like - both have showed glimpses and could still make it, but are on the outer at current clubs. I still think Jones holds a little more value given 'young KPP' status. And I think Lucas is more 'out the door' than Joones. Maybe we need to add a very late pick in.

Reminds me of the Everitt/Veszpremi trade from a few years ago.

That's the problem. As I said before. If we've targeted a KPP on the trade table and end up with only Jones, is it really an upgrade on what we had?

GWS lose #4, #21, Jaksch, O'Rourke, Giles. Gain #1, #7 = why would they do this? They only move up 3 spots in the first round, and 14 spots from going early 2nd to early first round while losing 3 players? 2 of which were former 1st round picks!

Carlton lose #7. Gain O'Rourke, Jaksch. = get your head out of the clouds. All we swap is pick 7 for the former pick 2 and pick 12, when players already in the system are worth more than an early/mid pick

Saints lose #1. Gain #4, #14 = aren't they only interested in swapping the #1 pick for an established player? Even if not it's a god awful deal where they move down 3 spots and only gain a late 1st round pick.

Geelong lose #14. Gain Giles, #21 = probably the only bit that makes any sense. Shame this was thought up by someone with the I'm sure uses an EA sports playstation title as their basis for knowing how trading/drafting works!

Agree that GWS get screwed in the deal but if you look at the initial suggestion, GWS were also giving up pick 19 while not getting pick 7 back. Essentially picks 4, 19 and 21, Giles, O'Rourke and Jaksch for pick 1.

I think pick 7 for O'Rourke and Jaksch would be close to the mark. History shows that unestablished youth drop away in price very, very quickly. A few examples from last year:
Jarad Polec (drafted at 5) + 29 + 45 TRADED FOR 22, 34, 38. Essentially a former pick 5 traded for pick 22.
Doc (pick 12) traded for pick 33.
Billy Longer (pick 8) + 48 traded for 25 + 41.
Dom Tyson + 9 for picks 2 and 20.

O'Rourke hasn't shown any more than the above did when traded - arguably less. Can't see GWS getting a top 15 pick for him. Hawks first rounder (~20) will probably be enough to get it done. Jaksch might have maintained his value a bit more given talls are harder to come by but again he wouldn't be worth a top 10 pick on his own. Perhaps a pick 12-18.

Reckon picks 15 and 20 would get both those boys across. Is that equivalent to pick 7 for GWS, who will have to reduce their list in the near future? Perhaps. Maybe swap later picks if need be.

If Saints are keen on getting more young talent in, then moving back 3 places in what's supposedly a very even top 5 while gaining another top 20 pick would be astute list management. They did say they want 3 picks in the top 20 and that's an easy way to gain another without losing too much.

Not sure what was meant by that playstation title jibe so I'll ignore that. I don't for a second think a trade this convoluted will occur nor was it my suggestion to begin with. Merely an attempt to take it from the fantastical to something resembling reality.
