28 year old McLean who hasn't had major injury issues the last two years? Huh?
Garlett and Lucas played 39 games between them last year. They've dropped away this year with Mick going back to basics and playing harder players. Think we'll promote Cripps and Graham at the expense of Mclean.

Right, a little less outlandish. The phrasing 'shocked if he plays on' made me think you were talking about McLean himself electing to retire.

Another player the club has probably done it's due diligence on is Jeremy McGovern. Young WCE swingman in the final year of his contract who is behind Nicnat, Lycett, Kennedy, Darling in the pecking order. Has played many games this year so could be hard to dislodge but could be a player to look at if Garlett heads home.

I'm with you, etsal1. Having watched Higgins live for a fair chunk of the last few years, he would be a great acquisition. As a FA, all 18 clubs knows his injury history so you'd think his 'market' value would reflect that. He has Elite disposal and isn't as soft as people think. Would be a great addition to the club.

Word is all he wants is a longer contract than the 2 years the Dogs are offering. He's not chasing dollars. Like Murph & Gibbs and other FAs, he just wants long term security.
Hasn't been as durable though. Although, I believe you or someone else said he's been injury free for a while now?

What is he wanting, 3 or 4 years? Can't see many sides risking he'll be all good for 4 years.

Hasn't been injured all year. So maybe he is over the issues. We did give Daisy 4 years with an option of a 5th :p

He turned to crap as soon as I said he looked good :p to be fair, the dogs overall weren't great.
Haha no worries, you've probably seen more of him than I have.
I may be wrong but he strikes me as the type of player who'd be a handy addition to a contending side rather than a key piece of a building side.

Yeah thought so. If he's over his injury issues then that's a bonus. :thumbsu:

Slow down! Are you implying Higgins is better than Daisy? :drunk:
Should quote this for the Intoxication thread. :D

I just think he's be handy for his disposal and versatility. And especially because he'll only cost cap space.

Waite is the 'elephant' in the room. Not sure if any other Carlton fan is saying it, but his form in the past fortnight, and key toward struggles at other clubs like Freo and The Bulldogs means we should cash in and let him go, either in a trade, or more likely via free agency, which would likely net us a handy 2nd round pick. I like Waite, is the son of a club great, but with Levi developing better then most fans hoped for, we can afford to let Waite go to aid our mini-rebuild IMO

I really do hope we are chasing Jaensch from Adelaide and Gaff from Wce as previously mentioned weeks back.
Both had really good games yesterday (especially Gaff).

Robinson and our 3rd for Jaensch and Adelaide's second.
Garlett and our 2nd and 2nd from Adelaide for Gaff - too much/ not enough? It's a Sunday...

Both players would certainly add a bit more speed to our group also.
i think the Jaensch trade is too little and the Gaff trade too much, but only a little bit each way

I just can't see us getting any compo out of him.

Unfortunately it's not only contract and price but age that determines compensation. I think we'd only get a 3rd rounder at best, which means i'd prefer to sign him for 1 year to play for us
