Waite is the 'elephant' in the room. Not sure if any other Carlton fan is saying it, but his form in the past fortnight, and key toward struggles at other clubs like Freo and The Bulldogs means we should cash in and let him go, either in a trade, or more likely via free agency, which would likely net us a handy 2nd round pick. I like Waite, is the son of a club great, but with Levi developing better then most fans hoped for, we can afford to let Waite go to aid our mini-rebuild IMO
Waite won't get us more than a 3rd round compo pick. It's based on age, money & contract length. He won't get a long contract, he's old and no one will pay him big money.

Accurate. Brilliant. Unlikely.

Pure guess work, but Waite for Higgins and a swap of third round picks?
Edit. Or their 2nd for our 3rd as a swap of same round picks is essentially a zero sum gain.
Edit II. I know they are FAs. This scenario would benefit both clubs.

Freo might just be desperate enough to do so, considering the limited time left on their Premiership Clock.

Ir will be interesting to see what unfolds, but i think he will leave...

I like the Waite for Higgins idea (even as a straight swap) Fills a need for both clubs.

Why can't Waite fill a need for our club?
Thank you, voice of reason.

From what I read, Patton comes out of contract at the end of next season, give Waite, Judd another year, lets face it, we won't win the flag next season, Waite will be on the Veterans List ..................frees up another zillion at the end of next year for Patton.

I agree that we'd be crazy to actively offload Waite.
One thing though - the Veterans List has been scrapped. This seems to be one of the reasons folk think he MAY leave - he won't get the money at Carlton for his next contract that he had previously.

I could see a club like Adelaide throwing $500k over 2 years for Waite thinking they are a key fwd/back away from being a top 4 side.
