Add Sauce to that list.

As if our recruiting isn't a big enough source of pain, we're also haemorrhaging AFL-quality players.
We also snagged 3 high quality recruits (for basically peanuts) in last year's trade period - Daisy, Andre Everitt and Docherty. You got to take the rough with the smooth !!!

Well, I guess you don't have to say anything, because nowhere in my post did I blame the club for Jeff leaving. (wtf?)
You said not only is our recruiting bad (which is criticising the club) but we are haemorrhaging players. Which is not only a massive exaggeration (as I wouldn't call Laidler & Jeffy & Sauce over 5 years haemorrhaging) but given you linked recruiting with losing players, it's saying they're both the club's fault.

Remind me not to argue with you. ;)

Exactly right, players shift for a variety of reasons, we just have to hope that our club comes out of it in a more positive situation.
Our list management seems to have really improved over the past few seasons so I find it hard to fault them at present. :thumbsu:

Jeffy has had an enormous fall from grace and doesn't appear to be able to drag himself out of it.

He's an enormous talent but unfortunately when things aren't happening for him he becomes a complete liability which is what he has been for the better part of the past 18 months or so.

Sadly his days at Carlton seem to be numbered and it just makes sense that he starts afresh in his home state.

I can certainly see him making his way to West Coast and turning things around.
The post-match threads would be great for BF....

"What the hell has happened to Buckley? Dylan has been smashed by Garlett."

"Drop Docherty! Brisbane rolled us in that trade. Move Armfield back."

"Walker has stunk it up. We traded the wrong player."

"Can we trade Tuohy back to Ireland for a slab of Guinness?"

Thornton & O'hAilpin got picked up by GWS, Mark Austin is still at Footscray, Jordan Russell went to Collingwood, Grigg & Hampson to Richmond, Betts to Adelaide.

Bar Betts, are you crying over losing any of them?

Not to mention 3 were delisted, Russell was traded for a pick we knew we wouldn't use because we wanted to make sure he got where he wanted without the PSD (in other words he was delisted), Hampson was traded because we CHOSE to, Grigg well....I'm quite happy he's gone.

Betts is an entirely different situation. In the free agency climate, you're going to lose a Betts if you're not prepared to OVERPAY for players.

Apart from Betts to adelaide all those players were going nowhere and went nowhere - hardly hemorrhaging quality talent

Cry over losing those guys ............. hell no !!

Just listing some of our players that ended up at other clubs, some by trade and some by other methods.

Hampson was traded because we CHOSE to
We did make a horrible mess of that ruck situation though. I don't want to cry over spilt milk but our admins deserve a fair old boot up the clacker for their handling of Jacobs especially when a year or two later they punted Hampson too.

The original point was we are losing players that we want to keep & are losing them for peanuts.

So I'm still unsure why you listed those discards?

To be fair - this ruck dilemma wouldn't look so bad if Kreuz was fit this year.

Mmm.... yeah .... sort of.

Right now, Jacobs is playing damn well over there whilst we are trying to get by with an 'untradeable' Warnock and an injured Kreuzer, its rubbing salt in the wounds.

I really fear for Kreuzer, I have a bad feeling about him not returning well from these injuries, I hope like all hell that I'm wrong.

We will need to draft and trade for a small forward and flanker/mid if McLean, Garlett and Lucas all move on. Half forwardline lacks class outside of Yarran anc Menzel. Hope we can get Laverde/Ahern/Duggan and a Jarrad Garlett or a Clem Smith in the draft. Leaning towards a tough mid-forward like Parker ahead of another streaky small forward.

Unless Buckley moves forward with Docherty coming into his own as a running defender.

To play devil's advocate, Hawthorn lost Ben McGlynn (and even more horrendously in hindsight) Josh Kennedy to the Sydney for basically a can of coke.

Every club has made blunders on recruiting/list management over the years, even the reigning premiers, and i am not convinced the Swans off loading Mumford, Everitt and Jesse White to get Buddy will be worth it long term.

Finally, I disagree that Warnock is umtradeable, reckon Geelong and Sydney would have a serious look at him to cover their weak ruck stocks.

iirc that was gone to create cap room for them to pick up Burgoyne.

Hawks forward line doesn't miss McGlynn in the slightest.

Tbh I wonder if JPK would have made the same impact at Hawks with their enormous emphasis on kicking ability.

His strong inside game suits the Swans gameplan perfectly.

It's almost unfair in that instead of being viewed as a raw, developing tall, the pressure will be on him to come in and be elite from the get go.
I'm hoping people don't set unrealistic expectations for the big guy as it will take a while for him to get into the swing of things.

JPK may not have broke out in the manner that he has had he remained at Hawthorn as he still would have been behind a number of other similar players.
I don't think the Hawks would mind though, stylistically Burgoyne gives them that they were otherwise lacking anyway.

Burgoyne, Lewis, Mitchell, Hodge, Kennedy, Smith, Hill, Sewell

On 2nd thought the Hawks would probably be pushing for a 3rd consecutive premiership this year with that midfield line up.
