What would need be added to Garlett if Selwood wanted back to Vic...if we potentially lose Mclean, Carrazzo and Judd we are short a couple of Clydesdales.

Edit: scrap that post C4 insights

seems so :(

But like I have been saying, from what I'm hearing, we'll lose him for nix.
Doubt they would want to let him go. Think they would play hard ball and they would be asking for a pick included with Garlett somewhere between 16-25.
At this stage, unfortunately Garlett's trade value is very low

Gaff is the guy I want in blue!

Jeff will have a cooling off period in a few weeks time.

I have little doubt he'll be leaving but the frustration and anger has time to settle.

Don't think Jeff will want to play silly. His management will want to do what's best for all concerned.

Yep, his management will want to make sure they get a good deal to.

It isn't that easy to just leave a team.

In a realistic world... I am wondering, what people think we should do come trade/FA month?
If Walker went packing with our 1st for a GWS gun, I think we should look at bringing in Higgins and Malceski on 3 year deals.

Think we give FA a miss. Geary is the only one I'd be interested in but highly rated at Saints. Don't need Malceski who would be looking for a payday if leaving.

Just to return to Waite and I'll preface this by saying that I've always been a huge fan of his. I consider him one of the smoothest moving talls I've seen in the last few years. Even David King said, at his best, he's borderline elite. The trouble being that through injury, indiscipline and, sometimes attitude, we haven't seen enough of this.

At his age and with his history it's unlikely that anyone will break the bank to pay him. Much more likely that he will be offered a longer term contract than the single year we are likely to offer. Any pick we are likely to get from him will be a gamble and it'll be nothing if we sign another FA.

I think that, if he can stay fit and focussed, we should consider offering him a two year contract. Still, IMO, moves like a 25 year old and I can see only injury changing that over that period.

Even if the stars align and we are able to snag Boyd this year, after watching him on Saturday, I think he is a bit like Hawkins and likely to be a slow developer. I think we would be better positioned with Waite still on our list to allow Boyd, or any other young talls we may take in this years draft, time to develop.

Just think that Waite is still more value on our list than off it.

No to Higgins, no to Malceski.

By the time we are ready to challenge, Higgins will be older (yes I know he's the same age as Murph but he's not even half the player Murph is) and comes from a club of mediocrity.

Would prefer we go young and from the draft, especially if we get Boyd across.

Big gamble. If he's on I like him. I would hope the club stick fat and offer him a hugely reduced wage and a 1 year contract. From my memory, he held us to ransom last time and requested more years and a decent paycheck. Time to repay the faith Waitey. By my calculations, he owes us about 4 years of good football...

May not get any of this if we stick rigidly to a one year contract.

Garlett is officially gone.

At a Swans Districts game over the weekend - Jeff's Uncle told a West Coast fan that Jeffrey has sold all of his Carlton gear.
Sounds like a rumour to me. Or maybe my understanding of the word 'official' is wrong.

For all we know, said west coast fan made up the whole story.

Sorry for nitpicking. :) Carry on...

I think we will get nothing for him.

He will either leave us as late round pick (something meaningless), or head into the PSD and find his way to West Coast (other teams won't touch him given his state at the moment).
That is really sad that it has all broken down this much. :(
Is it mostly on Jeff's end or has the club mismanaged also?

I know it's all doom and gloom on here but when were you hoping to challenge?

With a 'soft' draw courtesy of a bottom 6 finish, not sneaking into the 8 next year should be regarded as a failure. So by 2016 we'll either have a new coach, or Malthouse will be on the first year of a new 3 year contract. Higgins will be 28 by then which is still younger than when Kade Simpson won a B&F last year.

Offering a 3 year deal for the loss of no draft picks is what we're talking here.
