He has said that we must get Jaksch, but is actively encouraging Saints to trump us, even to the point of getting angry with a Carlton supporter suggesting GWS should deal with us or Saints can take him for nothing in PSD.

I just get the message we are damned either way. He doesn't care if we miss out, he'll just bag us for it. If we get him and overpay, he'll bag us for it. He is strong that Jaksch is happy to go to either club so we have no leverage.

I was of the belief that KJ was less indifferent as to his destination, but I'm willing to take Wallace' word for it. If he is indeed correct and we're screwed either way, I'd much rather we hold our nerve and get screwed with out integrity intact. Throwing away what is hopefully our first and last top 10 pick in a long time reeks of desperation and is unbecoming of a club that supposedly has a master plan to properly build for long term success.

True, but 2008 suits my agument :)

When I have time it would be interesting to repeat with 2006,2007,2009, 2010 (I think drafts later than this may not give us an indication of medium term prospects.
I mentioned in another thread: From 07-09 there were about a dozen guns in the 1st round, half a dozen in the 2nd, & only a few after that.

So there was an equal chance of getting a gun with one 1st rounder as with two 2nd rounders (also with a miniscule chance of getting two guns).
I'd say you're a higher chance to completely stuff up with the two 2nd rounder though.

Anybody who can get on the park 22+ rounds a year will be better than Waite. I think some people forget how much that guy got injured and suspended and how often he looked uninterested in the game.
Anybody who plays 22 rounds a year and looks engaged will be twice as valuable as Waite.

Waites best is of a very high standard, we just dont see it anymore then 3 games a year...

fair call. If we do something like this we need to be absolutely certain that Rogers is on the ball.

Only a possibility if we relocate to Queensland....
The boy is from Lara, so it is clearly only $ that is making him want to go to Qld.. he has said he has 'issues' that means he needs to leave Geelong, not Victoria. Plenty of players in the past have stated a desire to move to a club/town yet back flipped and signed with other clubs.

Trade would involve Carlton relocating to QLD .....................

What I suggested yesterday was

Trade 1.
GCS Christensen
Geelong. #15

(Think that is realistic for Christensen)

Trade 2.
Geelong. #7
Carlton. #14 plus #15

(Geelong gets a x7 spot upgrade on their 1st rd selection for #15)

Trade 3.
GWS. #15
Carlton. Jaksch + #40 (just received from Hawthorn)

GWS get a pick pretty close to Jaksch's value and gives up a pick they won't use

So Carlton take into the draft #14, #28, #40 and #45
We lose in this deal IMO

Would probably do that coryne

The only question I have is:

Are you sure Jaksh is worth a 7 place downgrade on our first?

I see very little difference between:

Jaksh, 14, 28, 40
Jaksh. 19,21, and Whiley

In fact I think I'd rather the latter.

I don't think we would get Jaksch, Whiley, #19 and #21. Could get as low as Jaksch & #19 by some accounts.

I see Blues getting gutted on the KJ deal by GWS. We will give up 7 unfortunately. That's what happens you recruit tall utilities for years and "best available". We are desperate for a decent tall and GWS smell blood in the water.

Seems like the Garlett deal has gone quite.

Lots of clubs want Dees second rounder, and they only have one. Like the idea of an upgrade on our second rounder and a swap but not sure who we need.

If we are holding out for fair value, we may have to wait for the Clark and Lumumba trades to be done.

1.20 pm on the Thursday of "Week 1" of the trade period.

iirc Trade Week finished about 2 pm Thursday this year, so there is basically 1 week to go

EVERYONE seems to be waiting for trades to be finialized before acting (you would think that the Clark and Lumumba trades would be some of the first to go through)

Conclusion. Grow some brains AFL and do back to a single week for trading. 1 week for FA, 1 week for Trades, anything more is just a waste of time.

I found I scocial media rumour (I don't believe it's true but here it is what it says)

News coming in that josh Kennedy is unhappy being in Sydney with some players in the coming season may have to take a pay cut to fit into Sydney's salary cap.

Could we see the big time midfielder move home to Vitoria? Kennedy manger said that he has spoken with a few melbounre clubs about a possible move.

Melbounre hawthorn and CARLTON have all spoken with his manager about a possible trade.

I don't think it's true but it is a good discussion
