Quick that Bolton. How does a chunky little nugget like Higgins that’s not as fast get over him?
He does all the other stuff better.
So if he’s lacking over that little chucklehead then it should be a no.
Higgins is an elite runner, even for his age. Bigger body too, so has the ability to affect the contest and stay involved longer.

Love how are people are writing off Bolton after one set shot kick, where he was most likely trying to go for distance over anything else. He's a livewire and does the things 95% of the competition can't. His biggest problem right now is his tank and defensive efforts, which are almost non-existent. If the club believes they can help him to improve in this area, then he's definitely worth a look in at a cheap price.

I'm more so concerned about the levels of our stocks. Murphy/Gooch, with Rankine/Rozee possibilities and the potential to try and win over Orazio to come back home. Bolton might not fit regardless.

I'd be inclined to throw a 3rd at him. No more though!

I've learnt my lesson trading for physical traits rather then football runs of the board. Thanks Curtly!

Heard 2nd hand that Carlton are interested in CEY. Not sure how interested because it doesn't originate in the footy Dept but more admin.

I like having CEY as a very useful depth guy, but if he had an opportunity to play every week he deserves it. Even if it would be playing for the douchebag SOS!

If that was to occur we wouldn't have many indigenous players in the AFC. Only Davis, Betts and Milera left.

I wouldnt be accepting a 3rd for CEY. If we make finals this year, we owe it to Cam. He was instrumental in holding us together when the fallout from Burton and Haas's preseason was at its worst. I want to hold on to him for depth. The only way I am giving him up for a lone pick is if we bundle other picks together reducing our overall number of selections.

One possible trade with Carlton and pick 1 could be with GC. If we can do a trade to satisfy them for pick 3, then we could turn it into a 3 way.

Pick 1 for pick 3 + CEY
Pick 3 for XYZ

Just need to do a deal with GC for pick 3 then.

Don't mind it, would probably take just 26 alone. Puts us in the range to look at someone like Valente (if we are looking at him), who essentially fills CEY's boots anyway.
I'd be very surprised if you got 26 for CEY without giving up a pick in the 30s.

I feel sorry for the GC, I just dont see how they get themselves out of this mess. With that said if we are serious about moving up, they should be our target. Not CFC!

I see the blues going Midfield anyway!

I think they have to concede the short term and make a long term plan. They need to copy the Brisbane playbook. They actually have a great draft hand this year. They will have picks 2, 3, 16, 25, 30, 40, 42. They should use them all. Get the bookmarks at either end with the King brothers and hope that the family connection keeps them long term. I know that they should probably go Walsh and Smith, but they are going to lose Lynch and May. This is a rare opportunity for them that works on so many levels.

They could then load up on mids with most of the other picks. If they can get a few big bodied FAs, they should do that as well. Just enough to help their young players develop. Things could change for them pretty quickly with a draft hand like that. They should be able to trade out a few players like Hall as well. Maybe they can do something with pick 42 + Hall.

I think Carlton will want Walsh too. They might even be eyeing off Smith. If they knew that the Suns were going to go with the Kings, I think they would do a trade down to pick 4 (St Kilda). If I were the Saints I would do a trade and take Luko. McCartin is looking doubtful to make it. We should be banging down St Kilda's door for their pick as well. Either for Luko or Rankine.

CEY and 37 for 26 (+ 55)?
I'm sceptical on how serious we would be about securing Ellis-Yeomen but he does fit the age profile we are looking for which is a positive for both of us. The main negative on your side of the ledger as I see it is that for whatever reason(s), he was only able to play 14 games in 4-seasons which resulted in him being relegated to the rookie list this year. Admittedly he has done way better than that with 12-games this year but he isn't an automatic selection if there aren't injuries or suspensions..

Your list is well served for mids, it's probably your strongest department too but that means Ellis-Yeomen is way down the current pecking order. Sloane, Gibbs, the Crouch Bros, Laird, Douglas are already in front of him and I'm sure we could find another 1 or 2 if we looked a little harder.

Based on those factors, I don't think he is going to get you anything inside the first 35-40 picks from us. Besides, if we have a pick in the mid-20's, we will be wanting to maximise it because we really need to (think about this year's results) & it is believed that the best players in this draft are going to be found inside that first 30.
