Someone called Wiedeman available for $650k:
Demons youngster Sam Weideman has reportedly asked the struggling Melbourne club for a pay rise. Herald Sun footy journalist Sam Edmund revealed the 21-year-old approached the Demons with a request of $650,000 per season.
SEN host and former AFL star Garry Lyon thought the rising star was kidding himself
“$650,000 per year? Turn it up,” Lyon told SEN Breakfast.
“He’s a super talent and those boys of that size have got a head start on some of the other players, but he’s a long way off.
“Brody Mihocek is ahead of Sam Weideman as a footballer and he’d be on $210,000.
“You incentivise him with a base of whatever it is and if you play to that level consistently, you’ll earn $700,000.”
Weideman was drafted as pick Number 9 in 2015 and made his debut in 2016. Despite playing just 20 games across four seasons, the towering forward has made moves in 2019, averaging over three marks a game and booting five goals from four games.
